I know it's some rap nerd fantasy football shit, but I always wished Cuthoat commitee was Dubee, Dre, and Reek daddy. And the Click was E-40, B-legit, little bruce, maybe kaveo.
I think we've talked about this before... But ya, fuck a rap show. I would go to a Nacho picasso show or lil b show over a gangsta rap show. I'm too old to want to deal with all fake gangsterness and posing.
Earl and Vince put on a great show if it was short. Probably the best live rap show I've ever seen was the El-P/Killer Mike/Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire/Despot one last year. I'm not even a fan of El-P like that but he put on great show. I went for eXquire and to a lesser extent Killer Mike and they were great too and that's the show that made me a fan of Despot, hadn't even heard his stuff prior to that save for his verse on the Huzzah remix. He destroyed it though and even though he opened I thought had the best live performance out of all of them.
Death Grips were awesome but that really doesn't count and was far from a rap crowd there for the most part. OF shows are always fun but while their music is rap the shows tend to be of more of a hardcore show like atmosphere by far.
Yeah Shot has some songs I liked during for what for me was The Click & E-40s heyday (92-95, maybe 96) but I wouldn't say liking a song, or even a few songs, by someone makes you a fan.
Like I meant it more so that I wonder someone out there is like "FUCK YEAH A NEW D-SHOT ALBUM IS ON THE WAY!!!!1!!!!111!!!"
Even E-40 doesn't really fill concerts from what I have seen. I've seen him like 3-4 times and everytime it was at random bars with maybe 150-200 people there.
He usually plays Showbox Market here in Seattle and I don't know if he sells it out (doubt it) but it holds 1,100. I'm guessing you'd have to get to at least the 700 range or they wouldn't bother booking you.
And Mac Mall was 16 when he made Illegal Business?, not 13, but yeah, aside from Illegal Business? 2000 (and I'm in the super minority in liking that album) nothing he's put out since has been even decent.
D-shot is like the PSD of the click. Like he''s probably an ok rapper but I never give him a chance because he's in a group with some of the best rappers in the world (imo).
PSD cd "u ain't heard of me" is one of my favorite cd's all time. Game Costs/Bread Head is a great cd as well. But a lot of the songs are on comps or other cd's...
