Also you got to loot people in Everquest / Asherons Call when you killed them. Death was pretty fucking serious you absolutely had to be careful eyes up at all times. Damn that shit was brutal as fuck i bet at least a handful of people have actually killed themselves afyer being ganked and looted of the shit they took months / years to get lol

Even when I played a Rogue on a vanilla private server the game play speed felt like I was playing in mud at first because of the lack of energy regen lol just was boring as fuck spend the majority of the time quest just auto attacking because of being so energy starved.
I liked it. Take the rogue for example, i was a warrior and good at using that overpower skill right when they got their stunlocks up and burned their cool down, then id annihilate them in like 3 huge hits. Or the mage, you know their iceblick is coming and they're about to try to crit you for like 2k and take you out so you counter ut by making them chase you a little thinking you're running then you charge stun and take them out before they realize what happened

Dark Age of Camelot was especially challenging in that regard because it wasn't just the same hotbars in alliance skins vs the same hotbars in horde skins with only 1 difference on either side (Paladin / Shaman). Every battle was dynamic so many different classes on either side so many skill sets.

That's still PVP to this day lol knowing when to use your shit against their shit. A good Warrior still wrecks most classes if they know what they're doing.

Arms Warriors, Fury Warriors, and Frost DK's are all bullshit lol

That dude poncho (guy whp ran into the 711 with a hatchet and got killed) took Everquest pvp deadly serious. He'd stalk players for hours staying out of sight and take them out at the most inopportune time for them. I wonder how many people he made breakdown and cry lol

See i had a problem with that: Arms / Fury / Def warriors... No. You're all 3. It was so easy to switch stances. Id frequently switch between arms / fury utilizing rage potions to mitigate the rage burnoff with the switch, utilize the whirlwind with 2-3 ppl on me or utilize the charge stun, work back to Arms to execute them and overpower vs rogues. Even occasionally switched into defense and would burn that shield wall cooldown if the situation called for it

Ppl just stuck to one type of playstyle and never bothered to evolve for the most part, never experimented never moved around much

You're talking about stances, not specs

You can still stance dance on any of the specs.

I don't even remember what specs are
like Warriors have Fury (dps), Arms (dps), or Protection (tank). Paladins have Retribution (dps), Holy (healing), or Protection (tank). Priests have Holy (healing), Discipline (healing), Shadow (dps) etc.

If you wanted to be a Fury Warrior you picked talents down the Fury talent tree.

All Warriors have stances you can switch between which are Battle stance, Defensive stance, Berzerker stance.

Battle stance for sustained damage. Defensive stance for when you're taking damage. Berzerker for rage dumping/burst.

Stance dancing is like sitting in Battle beating them down and switching over to Defensive when they pop cool downs and you want to mitigate damage.

Now days instead of working down the talent tree to pick your spec, you pick your spec first and then pick the talents you want. But they let you have two specs at once you can switch between. That way healer mains can have a dps spec on the side for questing. Or you can have two dps specs that are different that work with different comps etc.

I don't really remember i think it was pretty cookie cutter though and there was only one single option: x amount in arms x amount in fury trees. Then for raids you had to spend like 3 days worth of gold farming to respec to the defense tree so basically you had to stay defense unless you were reimbursed, which was rare in my shitty guild. I bet it's probably free to respec now

Id say it was like a 80/20 arms tree to fury tree build, which could be complete bullshit but was the only option if you wanted to live. Fury tree was trash and you'd die extremely easily, and you don't use defense for PVP (unless you're alliance then what you do is spend 6months in raids gathering the most perfect gear possible then go out in the world and try to tank other players like theyre a raid boss lol)

I was specialized in 2hAxe and was the 2nd player on the server to get the Arcanite reaper plans, and made my own Arcanite Reaper myself. Probably like 20ppl out there had Arcanite reapers with (made by bigmike) stamped on there, hell yeah

The talent trees are a lot smaller now, because they realized they were cookie cutter and everyone picked the same shit anyway. So they give you 3 choices at 7 tiers and made each one usable in different situations so what you pick is important, and you gotta switch between talents in certain situations.

Here's my Rogue, you can look at the trees for both specs and even see what the talent trees look like now days.
