I tried to tell comcast I wanted to do my own self-install without buying their stupid ass $35 "self-install kit" (= 1 coaxial splitter and 2 coaxial cables). They said even though I have what appears to be a cable outlet in the wall already the last records of this apartment unit being serviced was 6 years ago, and I won't get anywhere near 75Mb speeds or it might not even work at all and might even be related to some other provider. Fine comcast... you'll get your lousy $90 installation fee I could've bought groceries for an entire two months with that
