That's some crazy shit to think about, especially in MMA because of how funny it is that there's a lineage to the phantom tap.
Lindland did it against Bustamante and got out of a sub bc Busta let go instead of waiting for the ref to stop the fight, Busta beat him anyways with another sub. Busta becomes Palhares' teacher and makes a point out of not releasing subs until the ref stops you, and now Palhares is the most notorious fighter because he won't let go of subs until too late like Busta taught him. Chael, who's a Quest guy like Lindland, did the same phantom tap in the first Anderson fight, Andy didn't fall for it and then held the choke on after Chael really tapped just to stick it to him.
