wtf, this scene where han solo shoots is fucking weird as hell. it looks all sorts of edited and straight retarded, since when did the alien shoot at him and he dodged the laser and shot twice back? i thought it had always been han solo shooting first, and only shooting once?

"Han shot first" is a phrase used by Star Wars fans to refer to a controversial change made to a scene in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. In the scene, Han Solo meets the bounty hunter Greedo at the Mos Eisley Cantina. Han owes money to galactic crime lord Jabba the Hutt for dumping some cargo that he was supposed to smuggle for Jabba, and Greedo has come to take Han to Jabba. During the course of the conversation, Han mentions that he has the money, and Greedo offers to accept the money in exchange for letting Han go. Han and Greedo sit opposite each other at a table and hold an ominous conversation while Greedo aims his blaster at Han. During their conversation and unbeknownst to Greedo, Han stealthily readies his own blaster beneath the table.
Han says "Even I get boarded sometimes. Do you think I had a choice?" Greedo answers "You can tell that to Jabba. He may only take your ship." Han replies "Over my dead body." Greedo tells Han "That's the idea. I've been looking forward to this for a long time." and Han replies "Yes, I'll bet you have." In the original theatrical version of the film, Han shoots Greedo and Greedo dies without firing a shot. The scene was modified for the 1997 re-release to feature Han using his weapon in retaliation after Greedo fires at him; the latter missing Han at point-blank range (less than two meters away).[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP] Thus, the phrase "Han shot first" is a retort to director George Lucas' explicit cinematic assertion that "Greedo shot first."

Star Wars creator George Lucas explained the change by stating that he wanted to make clear to children that Han had "no choice" but to shoot Greedo. This justification was unsatisfactory to many long-time and adult fans of the series. The ire of some fans led to an online petition demanding that the changes be retracted.[SUP][3][/SUP] The primary objection to the revision is that it alters Han's initially morally ambiguous character, making his later transition from anti-hero to hero less meaningful;[SUP][4][/SUP] others claim that shooting Greedo first was justified, since Han was likely to be killed by Greedo or Jabba the Hutt, making Han's preemptive action both prudent and necessary. The plausibility of Greedo missing from such a short distance is also considered questionable, and criticized as being depicted in an awkward manner.[SUP][citation needed][/SUP]
Since the Special Editions, there have been two DVD releases. In the 2004 DVD release, the disputed scene was altered again. In this version, Greedo still shoots before Han does and still misses at close range, but the timing is altered so the shots are fired at nearly the same time and to depict Han "dodging" the shot (digital manipulation is used to "lean" the character to one side).
The 2006 DVD had two versions—the 2004 changes and the original theatrical version. The theatrical version features no changes, including Han shooting first. When announcing the dual-version DVDs, Lucasfilm noted that the scene was included by saying: "...and yes, [viewers] see Han Solo shoot first."[SUP][5][/SUP]
For the 2011 Blu-ray release, the shot of Han and Greedo firing at each other from the 2004 DVD has been tightened up by several frames.[SUP][6][/SUP]
In a 2012 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lucas altered his previous statements by announcing that Greedo had always shot first - stating that a combination of bad close-up shots and the audiences' inaccurate perception of the Han Solo character was what actually caused all the confusion: "The controversy over who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo, in Episode IV, what I did was try to clean up the confusion, but obviously it upset people because they wanted Solo [who seemed to be the one who shot first in the original] to be a cold-blooded killer, but he actually isn’t. It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom. I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down."[SUP][7][/SUP]

Cardiologist said his heart is fucked pretty much. Damaged beyond repair. Ive cried a couple times the last few days, and I don't cry. He's not only my brother but my best friend. He was coughing up blood today and has fluid in his lungs. Doc was pretty straight forward with him and said drinking alcohol is killing you. My nephew was in the room and doc said "Don't you want to be around to raise him? Your 34 years old, you should not be here."

crying isnt a bad thing, its much worse not to cry or talk about it no matter what anybody says. i hope this is just a wake up call, things will get better

thats what id do to my brother, but my brother does whatever he wants and wont listen to anybody for anything, but he knows when im pissed off at him its cause i love him and dont want to see bad shit happen to him. i dont know how your relationship is, maybe you can just sit down and talk to him normally, thatd probably be best cause you cant really have him getting worked up right now. maybe being really gentle and planting the seed right now would be best, then when he starts feeling better you can go all out and let him know that you dont want him destroying himself

or i dont know exactly, the words or actions have to come from you, but i think the heart to heart is a good idea

I'm really fucking close to my brother. I know everything he does usually. bout 6 years ago he was in the hospital with congestive heart failure and he literally almost died. They said his heart was at a 1 at that time and a normal heart his age is at a 6. Today the doc said his heart is at a 2. He keeps saying they are over reacting and shit. I mean WTF does it take? Death? to realize you need to fucking stop drinking and smoking cigs? And he dabbles into coke. He's fucking retarded. And I'm fucking over here stressing about his health and crying and he takes it like its nothing. His girl (they been together for over 9 years so I guess wife) is calling me and balling her eyes out cuz she know he just doesnt get it. First thing the nurses said to his girl was that he is in denial.

^this x10, this is part of what you need to tell him. i mean not at this very moment obviously, you dont want him getting worked up, but you have to let him know all this shit, and especially all the stuff youre holding back that you didnt type, but you need to tell him the solid truth

Seriously. This is his 2nd chance. His first time he was seriously almost dead and they put him on a heart transplant list. I love him so much, it makes me sick to think about not having him around (no marty). (no marty) or not, I dont care. Dude is my best friend.
