Floyd Mayweather Jr. Sentenced To Six Months By Judge

On Wednesday morning in Clark County Supreme Court, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. was sentenced by Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa to six months in jail in connection to an ongoing criminal case related to assault allegations. Mayweather was calm and quiet when sentenced.
According to the judge, the final 90 of those days will be suspended and the first 90 days of the sentence will be spent at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. The judge scheduled a surrender date for the morning of January 6th. Mayweather will also attend a long term domestic counseling program for a period of twelve months and pay a $500 fine.
With a planned return date of May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and Mayweather getting out of jail, likely in March, the boxer's return could get pushed to a later date in the year.
As reported on Tuesday, Mayweather Jr. had agreed to plead guilty to one count of battery domestic violence and two harassment charges in a plea deal to resolve felony allegations that he battered his ex-girlfriend, Josie Harris. As part of the plea deal, Mayweather faced $3,000 in fines and between two days to 18 months in the Clark County jail.
The felony case stemmed from accusations that Mayweather hit and threatened Harris, stole her cell phone and threatened two of their children, then ages 10 and 9, during a September 2010 argument about the woman dating another man.
As part of his agreement with court officials, Mayweather agreed to plead no contest next week to misdemeanor battery and pay a $1,000 fine for poking a 21-year-old security guard in the face during a November 2010 argument about parking tickets outside the boxer's home in Las Vegas.
