Every four years, EA releases a soccer game based on the UEFA championship. EA renewed the license for the franchise long enough to make a 2012 version. However, there won't actually be a standalone UEFA release this year -- instead, EA is putting out UEFA Euro 2012 on April 24 as a DLC pack for FIFA 12. EA still refers to it as the "officially licensed videogame," but it's a downloadable expansion.

Why relegate the UEFA to expansion pack status? Mostly because FIFA 12 has been so popular, EA communications manager Steve Frost told Gamasutra. "We felt this was the best way to extend that experience and deliver fresh new content to our fans," he said. Releasing UEFA as DLC helps keep players engaged in FIFA longer.

"We expect that some fans who may not have FIFA 12 will want to play Euro 2012 and therefore purchase both," he said later in the interview, "but the bigger opportunity for us is to offer our loyal and passionate FIFA fans new content." Chances are, if you like soccer, you'd be interested in FIFA anyway, so this seems like a win-win.

I have been doing a lot better on FUT lately... normally win 2 out of every 5 games I play. Even my losses arnt as bad, like 2-3.

This is coming from a point where I would lose like 0-8 consistently. What I learned was in defense to control passing lanes, people love to press with the through ball. I also learned how to score in different position more consistent, like shots outside the box ect.

What i really need to work on, which I will hopefully be on point when fifa 13 comes out is cross game, and winning more ball in the air, I fucking suck against teams that mainly attack with crosses into the box? Plus I don't know how to attack like that, I mainly score with breaks (pace team) and with shots out the box.

Any advise shogun? stopping that attack my

With crosses, it's all about positioning.

If you drag defenders out of position to close down and they make a break out wide, there will be somebody unmarked, or best case, a cover defender tries to pick the open man up.

I'd suggest taking to the training field 11v11, pick a team with a good backline and the CB's with good defending attributes, like Heading/Strength/Marking and make your opposition someone with Strikers who are good in the air.

Vital that you make a custom tactic, make it narrow and deep. Take that into training, set your tactic (formation not important here but use a back 4 and make your opposition use a 4-4-2 as well so you match up the Strikers with your CB's well)

Then, just clear the ball and force them out wide by keeping everything tight inside, the AI will go wide and cross. Or, find somebody to practice with.

Also, when you do play and concede from crosses, save the reply and check the attackers runs to see if he was unmarked.

If it's simply a match up problem, then it could be the attacker has better stats than your defender.

If it's even, then you might be directing back the cross the wrong way. Direct it back the same way it came. Jostle if the attacker is stagnant.

Also, for this, speed isn't important on your CB's, speed/acceleration is only important when you play a high defensive line and need to track back to prevent a counter.

^ thanks man, I was thinking I was taking defenders out of position for a spit sec, and there AI runs right into the spot for header...

but even when lets say goalie punts the ball, I have a hard time winning in the air, im not sure if its timing. Someone told me I need to double tap when in the air? I always just tried to time, and press button when the ball was near my player.

I'm find a youtube maybe

For punts (goalkicks lol) it really is 50/50, but try a passing header in the direction of one of your players while jostling, anything in the air you need to jostle if there is a man on you.

See this picture below, the red area is where you should be trying to win the ball and the dark green area is where you should be tracking back and marking players once you get better at defending. FIFA 11 fucked people up, because all you needed to do was hold down two buttons and defenders would come in like homing missles lol, but now you have to defend and it is hard for those that are not used to it and that don't get to watch alot of soccer.

So if you want to play a fast counter attacking game, sit your team deeper with tactics and invite the OPP into your half, then clog the box, win the ball and break with speed.

I really need to make a video. There are way too many things I need to explain, like when to try and intercept ect..

One thing, set your camera to co-op and get used to it, you need to see the whole field because you need to see who is making runs.
