I've been eating alot of fast food lately. Mainly cause it's hella fast & cheap when I'm either on a break at work or high or just lazy. I do limit it though.

@Sixxness, Lungs do clean and regenerate themselves after people stop smoking. Its never too late to quit...
That's only true if you have smoked for under like 15 years. What I read (I think it was in my health course), was that after 5 years, you can stop smoking and your lungs will regenerate within like 5 more years. If you smoked for 10, it'll take longer, and won't get back to the way the lungs were originally...and past 15 years, you're fucked.

Obviously these numbers change, and they may not be perfectly correct, but they are somewhat true.

That's all I was getting at. I know you can stop smoking and your lungs will go back to "normal" but that's only if you haven't been smoking for years.

Gimpy, you're right. But for the vast majority of individuals (imo) it's not like that. Most people that don't smoke, don't die from smoking related shit.

Obviously people can die from all sorts of shit, so eating right or not smoking won't always help...but they can help.

I dont' even think that was my point though, if it was, I forgot....what I am trying to say now, is that even if you do eat right, and you dont' smoke, it doesn't mean shit, it might give you a better quality life for a year or two, but that's it.

Most people by age 90 that smoke, have cancer or some other shit. Not all, but most. Keep in mind, I'm talking about "most" people, and it's all based on what I know and my experiences, so what I say could vary from what someone else says/believes.

I work at a health food grocery store. It's a co-op owned by the community. We have 95% organic produce, organic hormone/antibiotic/free-range meat, dairy and eggs. We have a large raw organic/sprouted foods/living foods set and lots of probiotic food products and supplements. We sell this shit called kombucha, it's a thousands of years old live bacteria and yeast cultured beverage. Despite the fact that I work there and purchase mostly organic groceries, I sometimes succumb to drunken lazy impulses after last call and get some garbage at JITB right next to my house.

I avoid it as much as possible, unless I'm really Hungry. I hate the bloated feeling it leaves you with. Ever since, I starter exercising, and eating healthier, I noticed how nasty it is. I just ate KFC a while ago, I feel the need to throw up. Soda and Fast food is hella nasty!

One of my nephews turned 16 last summer and he worked at subways. He told me to never eat at subways again.

What made your nephew decide he will never eat there again?

I read that book in like late 01 or early 02. It made me straight up quit f'in with fast food for almost 2yrs straight. Then funds started to dry up, so I started hittin' up the dollar menus (chicken and fries)... Then throughout the years, I'd eat a burger here and there.

It's definately addicting though

Now, maybe I'll get down on FastFood like 1-3 times a month---but I don't mess with the ground beef(not like the chicken is any better with all them hormones, and crammed into small cages, shittin' on eachother and stuff).

One of the most profound statements in the book still stands out to me to this day, it goes something along the lines that (and this applies to groundbeef eaters) That your average american kitchen sink has higher levels of fecal elements than your average american bathroom toilet.

Theres much more, gotta shake to work runnin' late but be back later....

Haha, it said you would be better off eating a carrot that had fallen into your toilet bowl than one that fell in your sink. Thats fucking nasty...

JOMODO....

I've read that about the sink and toilet too (from a different source), same goes for the bathroom sink...

When you don't close the lid, bacteria can be pushed up to like 15-30 feet in the air, which causes it to spread everywhere.

If you keep your toothbrush in the bathroom...IT HAS FECAL MATTER ON IT.

The way some of the people handled the food and the fact that some of the food was recycled and not "fresh"
Yes that is true but you'll see these things happening everywhere you go fastfood or not. You can have a "recycled" dinner dinner in a 3 star restaurant aswell. It's just one of the dangers of eating out. It will happen in a fastfood place quicker and more often I think and chances are higher to eat something someone has sneezed on for example. ( I used to work at mcdonalds as a teen and I saw this example happen several times on the salads, cheers for healthy food)
But on the bright side of eating 'recycled' food it helps to build your inmume system. Although I'm not a fan of building up my system that way. Sometimes igorance is truely a bliss.

I have read the book, its great. changed my mind about a lot of shit.

i dont eat fast food, except for in and out, but thats like once a month, maybe. even when i do eat it, i just get animal style fries most of the time. and thats not because i think its "healthy" like a lot of fans of in and out say it is, but just cuz its bomb.

One of the biggest problems ive found out about, and i think is totally fucked up in this country, is what they feed these animals. Cows are ruminants and theyre not supposed to be eating leftover, diseased, animal parts (blood, spinal cord, brain, animal shit, etc.). Hey, anything for a buck though, right?

Not true. Restaurants that are family owned and operated usually operate in a different fashion.

You can have a "recycled" dinner dinner in a 3 star restaurant aswell.
No one is denying this, however what are the chances of an upscale restaurant recycling the food as opposed to a lower scale fast food joint? Please, before you respond, think about the clientle and the demographics of both.

It's just one of the dangers of eating out.
One of many dangers, what is your point?

It will happen in a fastfood place quicker and more often I think and chances are higher to eat something someone has sneezed on for example.
You are jumping all over the place here. Are we talking about recycled goods or are we talking about people sneezing on food and possibly spreading foodborne illness? Do you consider the use of food that has been sneezed on to be recycled?

( I used to work at mcdonalds as a teen and I saw this example happen several times on the salads, cheers for healthy food)
So if you saw this behavior what was the point of asking me what my nephew saw, and what was the point of starting your reply the way you did?

But on the bright side of eating 'recycled' food it helps to build your inmume system.Although I'm not a fan of building up my system that way. Sometimes igorance is truely a bliss.
Please elaborate :grabs bowl of popcorn:

That is true, sadly those kind of restaurants are a great minority

I'm not capable of giving you numbers of what the changes or precentaces (sp?) are. But you, I and the whole board knows that you also have these chances if you eat for example in an more expensive restaurant.

You are jumping all over the place here. Are we talking about recycled goods or are we talking about people sneezing on food and possibly spreading foodborne illness? Do you consider the use of food that has been sneezed on to be recycled?
No I do not consider food that has been sneezed on to be recycled. I do consider it disgusting. I am sure that this isn't the only restaurant where this happens tho.

So if you saw this behavior what was the point of asking me what my nephew saw, and what was the point of starting your reply the way you did?
curiousaty

I'm starting to think we both had another view of ' recycled food ' I will eleborate and probably clear up an missunderstanding.
What I ment with eating recycled food , eating food that fell on the floor, went in and out a trashcan (I've seen that one happening on serveral occasion)
This is why I said it boosts your inmume system, and I think you can figure out why I'm not a fan of boosting you system this way
And in this sentance the ignorance truely is a bliss because you don't taste that your burger has been in and out the trash or has fallen on the floor so you'll never find out anyway.

But I thnk you tried to say something else with recycled food, judging from your awnsers.
