I would estimate that I east fast food at least twice a day. I haven't read fast food nation but I have read up on what cigarettes can do and I still some them too. I just can't get enough. I have an addictive behavior. I also drink Red Bull and Mountain Dew likes it's nobody's business.

If with fastfood you mean, mc donalds, burger king ,kfc etc I stopped a while ago. I haven't read that book but I do own a copy of Mcdonaldization of sociaty which I just got and didn't have the time to open yet.
Although not every "fastfood" is bad for you it kinda depends what you consider fastfood, we have a custom here in Holland to eat a raw herring (I hope I write this right) it's a fish which we clean and then grab it by the tail and pull your head back and let it slide in. To a lot of you this might sound discusting and I am no fan of it either but it's healthy and you could consider this "fastfood" aswell.

^^^We Call That Sushi Bro Lol

I Eat Fast Food Here And There, I Always Try To Avoid It Cuz Ive Worked At Taco Bell And Other Joints And The Thought Of How The Food Is Made Or Prepared Makes Me Sick, But Because Im Diabetic I Gotta Get A Quick Meal Once In A While And I Have No Choice Besides Fast Food (Unless I Plan Ahead For A Trip)

As For HERESY's Question, I Havent Read The Book, It Slipped My Mind A Couple Years Ago After My Boy Told Me About It, But I Think I Might Hit The Library Today And See If I Cant Find A Copy, Anything Specific I Should Be Lookin At In It?

@Meta and Ethereal, the two of you should read Fast Food Nation, and if you can pick up The McDonaldization of Society do so. I'm NOT trying to change anyones eating habits, but fast food IS addictive, and that is something we should at least be aware of.

@ Iaoish, I wouldn't really consider it fast food because of the way it is cooked (or not cooked for that matter.)

@ The comrade, Taco Bell? :dead:

If you Pick up fast food nation you'll see how these companies actually prey on the average joe, exploit their weaknesses and create a dependency (<-sp?) on their products. I can't look at fast food spots in the same way now. Am I saying to go out and become a Vegen? HELL NO! And thats not the way the book comes across. The book comes across as sarcastic, funny, but serious at the same time. The book is EASY to read, so you won't have a problem diving in, nor will you have a problem understanding whats going on.

As for The McDolandization of Society that is a must have also. If you want to understand how fast food has shaped the world on an economic AND cultural scale you need to pick it up. I made a thread on McDolandization a months back, so I suggest hitting that thread and reading it.

I don't touch that white man's poison.

Anyone have copies of either of the books that Heresy mentioned? (the way people posted up full online copies of books in the reading is knowledge thread?)

They are on my someday read list, but I’d rather not pay for them if possible.

NEVER KNEW IT WAS ADDICTIVE...BOUT TO START A HEALTHY DIET N WORKING OUT, JUST KNOWING THAT SHOULD HELP ME STOP EATING BAD..ALTHOUGH IT SHOULD BE, READING IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I COULD IMPLEMENT INTO MY DAILY ROUTINE RIGHT ABOUT NOW..

Who here eats fast food?

Have you read FAST FOOD NATION?
I read the book a few years ago, or most of it.

I don't eat fast food more than once or twice a month, if that. Sometimes I'll go for 6 months without eating any. Sometimes it's easier to do it...but when I can, I avoid eating it.

I do like Subway though. I don't count them as fast food though.

Not anymore, use to 3 times a week and gained like 15lbs. It's off again thanks to Jenny Craig.
