I like this kid too. He needs a few more fights before chasing the big dogs though, not just 1 more fight. N'Dou is pretty durable but not very skilled, Corley would have been a better test for Alvarez.

Corley would get knocked out cold, and fast. Ndou is the kind of fight he should be taking right now if he's gonna fight a 140lber. Ndou has faced real punchers and keeps coming. He's old enough to where he probably doesn't give Canelo much trouble but still gets some pressure on him and takes him the full 12 for some much needed bright lights ring time and if Canelo is able to stop him.. then this kid is far better than what I originally thought.

Corley's only been knocked out once. He's been in the ring with Mayweather, Judah, Cotto, Alexander, etc. etc. He gave Cotto and Mayweather problems. He's a southpaw with decent footwork and craftiness. Much like the guys Cinnamon will face in the division.

N'Dou presents no offensive challenge. He's a slow plodding fighter just like Baldomir.

mexico's next huge star. besides julio cesar chavez jr of course lol

I heard when he fights the ratings in mexico already rival that of the mexican soccer team. pretty impressive for a 20 year old irish kid. and he already has a super model girlfriend too.

Corley is long time done friend. He was wobbled like a drunk plenty against Maidana, has fought almost his whole career @ 140 where Canelo has been fighting at 147/154 steadily. Corley wouldn't make it 4 rounds @ 147 against a crusher like Canelo.

N'Dou presents pressure and it's the right step for a young kid. Is the image of the smaller Cotto punching him silly in round 1 of their fight out of your mind? You put him with a guy who's taken clean shots against real punchers, even @ 147, and you either get him a good 12 rounds of experience or he becomes the first man to stop Ndou which would be highly impressive.

I like Canelo. Fundamentally sound, and he's entertaining to watch. I think he'd be better suited at 154 where the guys aren't as quick, because he isn't very fast himself. He's young, and still growing, so I think he'll wind up at 54 or 60 soon enough.

Dude can fight. I like that they're keeping him active fighting about every 3-4 months. Most def someone to watch maybe a future boxing superstar in the making.

Saul Alvarez Eyes Andre Berto in 2011

By Jhonny Gonzalez

WBC silver junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (34-0, 26KOs) is getting ready to defend his title against IBO welterweight champion Lovemore Ndou (48-11, 31KOs) on Saturday night at Estadio Beto Avila in Veracruz, Mexico. Canelo, together with promoter Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions, spoke with the press about various possibilities for 2011.

De La Hoya wants to get Canelo a major title shot next year. Canelo told reporters that he would prefer to capture the sought-after green belt of the WBC. Unbeaten Andre Berto is the current champion with the green belt around his waist. If a deal can't be reached with Berto, De La Hoya will try to explore other avenues like WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko of Ukraine, or even IBF champion Jan Zaveck

"There are so many choices. I have a lot of confidence in my team, and together we will choose the best option," Alvarez said.

He doesn't hide his desire to land a fight with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao, who is regarded by a lot of media as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport.

"I'm fighting to get the proper experience and I face the best, and Pacquiao is one of the best," Alvarez said.

I'd rather see Canelo get his feet wet in the main event/title fight game against Zaveck or Senchenko. Zaveck isn't much of a mover and would stand and fight with Canelo who'd likely smash him. Senchenko was almost put away by Navarro late in the fight to the point where if Navarro had ANY kind of power left and wasn't exhausted himself would've put him away clean. Senchenko is being trained by Roach now, or at least was cornered by him in the Navarro fight, and I highly doubt Roach will allow Senchenko to fight Canelo after a showing like that..
