I'd like to get a DSLR before my trip to Thailand.

Anyone have thoughts on this offer:

6.3 megapixels? it seems like this is an OLDer model. 10-12 megapixels seems to be standard with high-end cameras in general (especially SLRs)... i might be wrong since i just got into photography about 1.5 years ago

i wouldn't buy an SLR with under 10 megapixels... another thing with older cameras... make sure you got a good memory card in there and take a bunch of photos quickly and see how long the waiting/loading time is in between each photo... i heard that sometimes on cheap memory cards and old cameras, you have to wait for ever to take the next picture... so make sure to test out these craiglist cameras by taking rapid photos

Take a look at colombos and tragiks photography before you start tripping on how many megapixels your camera has. Besides, what size prints are you going to be making?

Ive been lookin at the Nikon D5000. Seems to be good even jus set on automatic, clerk been showin me what it can do even outside, looks good. I ran into 2 clerks sayin the D3000 is ok but not what you want if your serious.
The video mode is jus somethin for fun it seems, I heard the sounds not that great.

I like that old black N white look when the background is all blurry N the subject is clear. What do you call that setting???

i been thinking about the D3000 but read online that it is not that good or that the D40/D60 was better is more correct. And about it not being for serious photographers is not true if u ask me in that sense that its like the D40/D60 going against the D90, but my point is i think it is how skilled u are with the cam is what u should get.

I hope somebody that have tried the D3000 on here would comment on if its worth getting. My current skill level is 0, but my thoughts are how is it compared to D60 tho?

And not to be rude aridan but if u ask what that setting is called then u mabe not D5000 material. i am just saying think before spending a lot of cash
