We got a lot of white fags in germany having dreads.
I cant stand those people, i know it's just hair but still they kinda steal something from another culture/religion and use it without really knowing what it means.
I ve been to a couple of Eek a mouse shows and everytime i saw white dudes and girls with dreads drinking hella liquor and i think rastas are not allowed to drink alcohol. I probably would care less if they just had dreads but those dudes pretend to be rastas and only listen to reggae and shit. They claim to know about it, but they don't, a lot of them just wanna look "cool", which is kinda annyoing.

Uhhh, didn't the Scottish have natted locks first? I'm talkin bout clandestine times.

Callin em dreadlocks is disrespectful to the Rastafarian culture.
im gonna go out on a limb and say africa probably had a civilization popping before scotland, and clippers did not exist in early times. of course i wasnt there so i dont know, but a educated guess would be to say theres been dreads since the original man.

as far as calling them dreadlocks bieng disrespectful to rastafarian culture, i dunno bout that either...ive heard many a devout rasta call them locks or dreadlocks.

^ since when was mac dre taking his dreads in and out?

its under my understanding that he dreaded his shit after thizzelle washington and they stayed like that..

that said some peoples hair dosent officially lock because theyre mixed with something.

bieng that im half creole, my hair didnt officially lock up even after 5 years.. yet they were dreads...curse of having "that good hair".

and when you just twist your shit into dreads in comparison to beezwax and all that weird shit its a whole different game..

Why don't you take a poll throughout Oakland and see what kind of responses you get?

I grew out my hair simply because I was tired of getting haircuts everyweek.
Right now I have braids and don't plan on dreading them...

We discussed this issue last semester in African American History class. If you are going to grow dreadlocks atleast understand the orgin of them and why people used to wear them...

Dreadlocks originate from the Mau-Mau Revolt in Kenya. Mau-Mau leaders wore dreadlocks. Rastafari emulated the Mau-Mau both in their appearance and their resistance to British colonialism. Rastafari regard the locks as both a sign of their African identity and a religious vow of their separation from the wider society.

yeah man, treal tv was made at different times...

whether 'twisties' and locks be different things, i dont think anyone ELSE knows that. a nigga twistin his hair in that fashion is doing it because he hes growing dreads, i dont think anyone straight up says "imma grow twistys"

Gas One you are right. Many whiteboys rockin the dreads live the lifestlye on point or at least know about it/participate.

Id say at least half of rappers would be considered traitors to rastas...and republicans.

2 years to lock up??

only takes about a year

and who really cares if someone has dreads, im sure theres spiritual reasons for baldheads to, but no one seems to care about that
