If you aint got none, are you planning on growing some?

and why?
what do yall think about the quote in the title?

has dreadlocks lost any and all meaning and become a fashion statement?

should devout rastas be flying in from jamaican air any day to machete some bumbaclot manes off?

are black kids who get dreads for fashion any better than the white kids who we constantly clowned upon for having dreads?

to some of them white kids defense, they actually take the time to read up on the history, heavily into rastafarianism, etc..which seems atleast a better copout than just wanting to be able to shake your shit around at clubs.

SHOULD the kids of nowadays understand the history of dreadlocks? especially those african american kids that maybe should know a bit about their own culture? if not, why?

how do you feel about all this shit? just a hairstyle?

hit me with your opinion, and please leave the net fighting out of it.

thats something you dont have to tell me (as far as the world bieng bigger than a dvd?) . speak to the choir..im just here to make discussion..

i didnt create this thread for self-education...i got books and school and leaving the siccness to go outside for that..just to get varied opinions like i said.

none of which is my stance. if it aint my hair, i dont take offense. if a nigga fuck my hair up, im takin offense.

but i WILL admit to wantin to cut a few niggas dreads off they head just on GP. haha.

cant stand them ole wanna be rasta niggas..

oh and niggas dont get dreads cuz they poor in america. dont kid yaself. even if jamaicans/africans/aboriginals were poor it goes deeper than that, much deeper in our own society..i guess this is sorta some gathering of the minds type shit..

Uhhh, didn't the Scottish have natted locks first? I'm talkin bout clandestine times.

Callin em dreadlocks is disrespectful to the Rastafarian culture. Though, because of Rastafarianism, no ones gonna call em anything else. I don't think a rasta will bun dem or slew dem. Maybe Capleton or Sizzla though, but theyve prolly already seen it cause they in the bay from time to time.

for rastas its somewhere in leviticus in the old testament that says man shall not cut the hair off the top of his head and the tip of his chin, that makes alota rastas grow their dreads and goatees

as far as it becoming a trend...for those who grow dreads cause mac dre looked cool in them, whatever thats fine...and for those who do it for spiritual reasons thats fine too...but ill always respect/admire anyone who does something and has actual deeper knowledge and meaning behind what they do more than someone who just does something for image. not that either is wrong, just what i respect more

It's way deeper than just being hair homie. Not to be on some pro-black radical shit, but it saddens me to see African/African-American Culture "whored Out".

My opinion is, if you do something because you want to be cool, you shouldn't be doing it. As far as white kids--or anyone who actually does research it, it could either be because they really do care, or they dont' want to get clowned, so they research to be able to defend themselves. BUT...The fact that they do want to know about it, says a lot more than those who just want to shake their stupid ass heads around in the club. Bandwagon riders are good for one thing, being taken advantage of, and I think anyone who does that shit cause of the fucking song is a complete and utter DISGRACE to humanity.

As far as the hairstyle in general, I dont' care what people do to their heads. I get my shit braided sometimes, and I wouldn't knock anyone for their style anyways, as long as they aren't just doing it to fit in and look "cool" in the clubs. But if people want to lose their culture and heritage, they can do so. But they better not fucking complain when they realize what happened, cause they fucked themselves.

People are easily swayed to be someone else, and most people would rather be someone cool, than who they really are (cause they don't think they're cool).

There's an actual method to dreading hair. I saw someone gettin them done a few weeks ago, they weren't doin it for that tho, the girl doin it and the guy gettin it done were both "hippies."

And you can use shampoo (if you don't, you would get lice).
