I was hella late in making the switch from Cassettes to CD's. I didnt start buying CD's full time until 95-96. I got a lot of hella rare shit on tape that I cant even listen to because I dont have a tape player...

I started with records, the first I ever bought was Fat Boys Crushin, this was back when I was in grade 8. The first CD I bought was Blac Monks in 93-94...
YEAH!!

I had 2 copies of that fat boys joint, and used to cut the "CRU-SH" part up, and go back and forth with it.....that was the shit.

I grew up on wax and tapes, but the first CDs I ever bought was Ice T-Rhyme Pays, King Tee-Act a Fool, Low Profile-Pay Ya Dues, and Criminal Minded-BDP.......the best $40 I ever spent. I couldnt even listen to them shits because NOONE I knew had a CD player....hahahaha

I took that shit over my Uncles house and lost my mind.

honestly, IMO....NOTHING compares to vinyl. the sound is so much fuller and you can almost feel the soul comin' from the records....cd's are clear, but cold.....

This was my first rap album, okay I didn't buy it but I got it for my 9th birthday along with my first CD player and Nirvana "Nevermind".

Edit: forgot the point of the thread No I don't have either one of those albums anymore. I gave them both away along with about 50 others when I was like 14 and going all punk.

I started with Vinyl & Tapes. I still have my first rap/hip hop vinyl "Eazy-Duz-It", but it is in horrible shape.

I remember I got my first CD player back in 1993, I remember I went out that day and bought my first 2 CD's. Eazy-E "Eazy-Duz-It" & Mc Ren "Shock Of The Hour". I don't have the origional ones I bought, they are long lost or scratched up.

You need a tape player and an amp, and then go buy one of those usb to audio out connectors.

I know you're serious about your music, so one day you should do that. transfer all the rare shit to mp3 format.

That Tone Loc was sick back then. Take away Funky Cold Medina and Wild Thing and the rest of the tape is straight gangsta shit...

Yes this is definitely in my future plans. A homie was showing me a program too that automaticaly seperates all the tracks so you can cut an album into seperate songs...

Beto, I used to do the same thing on my pops hi-fi (remember them? they were a tape player/radio and turntable all in one with the plexi-glass cover on top). I fucked up the needle on it and got in a lot of shit haha the good old days...

It was 1988 and I was only 8 years old what do you expect? I talked my grandma into buying it for me since back then minors couldnt buy explicit albums. I told her it was some other kind of music she almost made me put teh Ice T back though bc Darlenes azz was hangingin out her swim suit on the cover.
