i didnt see nothing special about the first video you posted...look at boon doc fingers wile he grooving with the beat in the first video...he was hitting the chopped samples in order they were sliced most of the time.so he wasnt doing nothing more then what dj fresh was doing.e-low was all over the mpc makin his own groove with the sliced samples.

there was some philosophical music making shit going on here, but as a listener all i care about is if the beat sounds good. one thing i'm tired of is how people sample the same shit the same way that about 50 other producers did in the past 2 or 25 years. that and so many people who's music gets brought to us isn't really unique or interesting weather people are trying to copy a rappers flow, style, etc. a lot of dj fresh's beats are simple but he still makes good music to me.
