lol @ anybody defending that worthless piece of shit DHB! that fool is trash you dont develop hands. either you can catch or you cant. and im tired of hearing about his speed he looked slow as fuck out their. he might run a quicker 40 then murphy and higgins but on the field their route running and catching skills shit on dhb. sad their salary combined doenst equal half of DHB's salary. and lol at the chargers have a good secondary they got worked all night on monday.
You can debate that with Chargers fans whether there secondary is good or not but i wouldnt expect any less from you as far as hating on DHB just the NINERS failed with Crabtree

Besides Weddle and Jammer, our secondary sucks. If our d-line aint bringin pressure you can have Stevie Wonder at QB and he'll do Drew Brees numbers.

Yeah but still, DHB shouldn't have dropped that easy pass man. He's -1 in the catch department or -2 (I heard he dropped 2 but I only seen 1). Crabtree could be easily winning this debate right now though....

JR, DHB, McFadden all thee have to play better.

Why do I get the weird feeling that if Crabtree doesn't sign with the 9ers he's gonna be a Patriot next year??
yea like i said if he enters next years draft a squad that picks late in the first round will take him for a cheap price. most likely a squad that is alrerady well established and has QB that can help crabtree have a immidiate impact. Crabtree will be a pro bowler, not his rookie season but after that he will become a top 10 reciever guy has to much talent.

DHB says he had `solid’ opener

Rookie first-round draft pick Darrius Heyward-Bey has no receptions, one (official) dropped pass but no shortage of self-assurance.

Heyward-Bey termed his first game as “solid” and disagreed with coach Tom Cable’s assessment that he played like a nervous rookie in his first game.

“Naw man. I felt the same I always did since I’ve been playing in high school,” Heyward-Bey said Wednesday. “I started high school football late and I’ve been feeling the same ever since.”

Heyward-Bey dropped a pass along the sideline that was negated by penalty, and later had a slant pass go thorugh his hands, hit him to the chest and fall to the ground.

“I thought I saw a real nervous, uptight young man, a lot of big eyes,” Cable said Tuesday at his press briefing.

Heyward-Bey is apparently growing tired of hearing about gaining a “chemistry” with JaMarcus Russell in the passing game.

“I really don’t look at it as they have chemistry or anything like that. I think that’s a stupid thing to say,” Heyward-Bey said. “The plays are designed, you’ve got to have the reads and that’s who he throws the ball to. I’m just sittting back doing my job. That’s what I got to do. I play the `X.’

“I’ve got the backside of things. I’m supposed to pull that safety over, I’m supposed to make this side of the field easier for JaMarcus to read. So that’s my job.”

In other words, a multi-million dollar decoy.

“As long as the coaches notice that’s all that matters,” Heyward-Bey said. “I don’t really care what the fans think or what anyobody else thinks. As long as they see I’m doing the job they want me to do, they’re the ones paying me.”

Russell talked Wednesday of wanting to get Heyward-Bey an early reception to improve his confidence.

“You need to, give him some confidence early in the game. Hey, I caught one, I’l catch the next one. We gotta build him up, as much as we do the rest of the guys.,” Russell said.

In a conference call with Bay Area media, Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe spoke about the anxiety of being a rookie without a reception.

“Oh, man, I had jitters until I got my first catch. It took like two quarters. Can you just imagine two quarters of just shaking?,” Bowe said. “If you’re a playmaker, you’re a playmaker. Once you tell yourself that and don’t lose confidence . . . all the great receivers drop balls, mess up here and there, but it’s how you come back that makes you special.”

(For the record, Bowe’s first official catch came on a the second play of the Chiefs first offensive series in 2007 _ a 6-yard catch from Damon Huard. Maybe he forgot. Bowe also said he got hit so hard in the first game he couldn’t remember all of it).

If Heyward-Bey is aching for that first catch, he’s hiding it well.

“I’m not even thinking about the first catch,” Heyward-Bey said. “Just thinking about getting better each and every week, coming out here to practice. It’s a new week and we’ve got the Chiefs on our hands, so prepare for them.
