Im neither white nor black, but I don't understand how people generalize so much.

A style is a style...regardless of color.

Let's say a black person has absolutely no accent or slang in his vocabulary. This person also owns a company, dresses according to this white society, makes a decent living on salary, and rolls a Jeep Wrangler listening to Led Zepplin or Rolling Stones. Is this person called a white wannabee? That is the thing...there is no term for it. It is thought of as proper. This man is doing well, has a career, and lives a clean life.

Then when a white person does the opposite, they are called wiggers, etc...ragged on, pointed at...whatever it may be.

I know plenty of blacks who act black..blacks who act white..whites who act white..and whites who act black. What does all of tihs mean? I have no idea...just tired and talkin bullsh...

I don't really care who acts what..especially if they have money for me.

when i think wigga i picture some kid who wears a doo-rag and uses the term nigga, has never seen a crack rock, and has never done dirt. ill tell you what, im a white motherfucker, FROM THE SUBURBS indeed, and i listen to rap quite often. why did i ever start listening to rap? because i could relate to certain lyrical topics and the beats are very ear friendly. i listen to all music genres tho, from pantera to playa jt. i however, lived a "not so nice" life un-typical of a suburban white kid. dope houses were second nature, stealing/thievery was a regular, i used to go to seattle to pick up/slang various things and part take in other activities, funk has "popped off", i have a number of good friends that gang bang(ed), ive had to stay in some gutter ass shit. i could go on, but from my point i would like to show that i personally have lived an extremely colorful life from all angles of society. if i wanna listen to some cat talk about slangin crack in the ghetto its because i did that. im not proud, but its part of me. basically im just sayin this suburb stereotype needs to be erased. i know what color i am and im proud to be a cracker. respecognize

Funny how Black people are obligated to act Black, listen to "Black" music, (When Rock n Roll has roots in Black people) etc. Yet white people don't have to listen to white music. Or do they? Or should they? When you posess an exquisite consciousness of race wchich all life if filtered through, nothing is clear.

You say you gotta prove you're worthy and real, can this be shown just through the respect you show for folks from the hood, or does it require some physical action. I don't think that people (like those from the suburbs) would understand how to show someone from the hood how they are "real". Can you explain an example of what you're talking about?

I feel you, in a sense. I live in "the hood" and what I've noticed is that if you act like you belong, and don't act like a mark, people will respect you...I moved in in Feb., and I have no problems at my house...now on the other hand, I could see how if a person moved in, and acted scared on the block, that people might try to test them...I guess acting like you belong could be percieved as being respectful.

huh, interesting.........so if a black person listens to any other kinda music than rap, he is considered an uncle tom then?....i know exactly where my heart lays, im a white man, who grew up basically in the suburbs, and will try to make it in the work world to provide for my family.....and thats where my heart lays, i could care less about dressing, talking, like im a gangsta.....cause im not, nor would i dress talk like a black person, cause im not.....i believe people who listen to rap and try to emulate what they hear in real life is a true wigger.......but youll hear me bumpin rap in some cargo shorts with a collared shirt on.....if u met me in real life u would think im your typical white dude who probably doesnt even know who brotha lynch is......and thats the way i like it, just cause i enjoy the music doesnt mean im gonna pattern my life after it.....the world is so diverse today you have no choice but to be exposed to a little bit of every culture..theres nothing wrong with soaking some of it in, but theres something wrong when u try to emualte what u see instead of just doing u.
