For those who don't believe in GOD. What keeps you from doing "Wrong" in this world? Since, obviously, your stance would mean no consequences for your actions. What makes you do "Right" Is man made law and the fear of incarceration the only things keeping you in check? Or...do you live day by day not giving a damn...and do as you please regardless of "mans" law. Do you have a sense of what's "right" and what's "wrong"?

One doesn't need to believe in God to have morals or values.

I base right and wrong on how many people I hurt by doing certain things. If it hurts people, I probably won't do it. Karma is a fucking bitch.

I remember you saying this a while back, I know good hearted people who don't believe in God, but you already know where I stay with this subject.

Well, would you consider a conscience to be a God? Some people do. I haven't come to my final decision yet, cause if that's the case, then everyone is God and it's everyone's fault for not doing more to make our world better, for everyone.

I just like to think there's a balance of all things in the universe. Karma just works shit out.

I totally agree...

Me and my mother had a debate about this. She firmly believes that I cant teach my son Morals and Values with ME NOT believing in GOD. Shes wrong....very wrong.

Everyone who is religious will probably tell you that you need God in your life.

They need God, so they don't understand how you wouldn't. Or shall I say, they need to hold on to the idea of there being a God, where as others don't.

I hate how people say God=good, and the devil=bad. Give me a fucking break. We do NOT live in the 1st fucking century anymore. I don't think personalizing these entities does anyone any good for their life, it just scares the shit out of people. They need to just realize there's positive and negative energy, and positive energy feeds on positive energy, and negative energy usually breeds more negativity. Maybe people should take English class before they learn to read the Bible, so they know what METAPHORS are...lol...or they should just read the shit, instead of having someone else tell them what's in it.

^^^i agree with everything you just said...

I've just come to the realization that some people are not a "strong willed" to do good/better than others..

most people need to believe there is a god so they dont/do ...cheat on their spouses, rape people, kill someone, drink (out of hand), do drugs, loose weight, peer pressure, etc...etc..

me personally ....i dont need God to help me with those things...I can control it on my own and understand that my actions are becuase of me...not because of God or the Devil.

For the 2nd statement, there's more to why we Believe in Jesus, or other people believe in their higher being. I still believe in God, but I've done some of those things.

The 3rd Statement couldn't agree because when you say you don't need God's help I think everyone does, but when you say you can control yourself good. The First statement is where I agree on the most, because me as a Jesus Believer, not Christian, should come to the realization that not all people can hold on to faith so easily as I can.

I wouldn't feel too bad, no matter how many people admit it, EVERYONE is a work in progress. Some people just can't get over themselves.

You have lost your independent will to live and make decisions based on your personal feelings as a human being.

If we are wrong, then we just didn't realize there was one single entity that controls the way life works, we still did the same thing every other "good person" did because we do our best to not hurt others, and we do our best to make those around us as comfortable as possible.

its hard to answer your question
What have I lost?
becuase I dont know you personally..

Im saying...that I dont know to what extreme you take your religious beliefs.

I know people that believe in GOD so much they totally shy from their family cuase of their beliefs. Or dont really have a REAL relationship with their children...cant please their spouses sexually, go through continuous problems in life cause "the devil" taunts them.

It would just vary on your beliefs.

what if you are wrong?
Here we go. Im happy with my life as it is. I am happily married. I have a wonderful wife and son that are my world. Im not concerned with the "afterlife" or even having eternal life in all honesty. Im concerned with my wife being happy in every aspect of our relationship and my son getting what he needs to be successful in life. Do I think he needs god? Thats for him to decide not me. He will get older like me oneday and come to his own conclusion much like the rest of you have. I dont persuade him either way and THATS THE TRUTH. I dont want him to hate the idea of god or Love the idea. what have I lost? Nothing. I have everything and even if for some crazy reason I outlive my son/wife or future kids. I will look back right before I died and say....DAMN I HAD A GOOD FUCKING LIFE.

i dont think it matters if your reliogious or not.... you still have a conscience...you know when you did something fucked up...you dont need someone else telling you that killing somebody is not right...but ultimately what i think keeps us all in check is sense of purpose...if you have no sense of purpose or reason for living then, really, you have no reason to give a fuck. if thats the case then its all on a person conscience and mentality.
