yeah. I took a Race and Culture class a while back and one of the authors in a book we read reffered to America as a "cultural boullaibase." A boullaibase is a fine stew with a number of elements mixed in that take in the flavor of the soup but remain the same, for example a potato in the soup soaks in the spices and flavors of other veggies while remaining a potato. For example, the Irish are Irish but they celebrate Cinco De Mayo, and Mexicans are Mexicans but they celebrate St. Patrick Day. America is many cultures mixed, not one culture that shares all the same knowledge and socially learned patterns of behavior. Its a good argument, but it also stems from the idea that America is more or less equal, and that all races respect each other, and that their isnt much racism....
