i think that's takin it a bit far...just cuz you can recognize a producers beats when you hear em doesn't mean they're not creative

Im sure more than a few producers have dun the same shit b4, he aint the 1st so its no need to act like it. Just about every producer out there got a signature sound!!!

Aint knokkin you or nuthin do ya thang mayne but last time I checked wasnt shit wrong with feedin ya family especially if you DO got a kid to feed WITH rent to pay. Sometimes SOME things have to take a backseat seat to make room for priorities to keep a roof over your head for the next day, or month for that matter. Im not no big time nigga in these streets of SESD so I can tell you NO Im not on the blokk out there hustlin tryin to make cheese 24-7(I know I'd be makin more) but I got a regular bullshit job out here cause to me that shit aint worth it But I still make beats for my niggs and lace trakks when its time and in just about EVERY verse I spit i rep DAYGO. No blood, no crip, jus real life spits type shit. But like I said earlier, aint nuthin wrong in doin what you do, and at the same time there's nuthin wrong with puttin food in ya kids mouth and puttin a roof over both ur heads.

Imma have to listen to more of his work to put a better comment on it then, cause I've only heard a few tracks from him..maybe not enough to offer an opinion just yet. Cause basically what I was sayin is that you can a lot of times hear a beat and almost tell who did it, to me thats their signature sound. Now if Cricet is doin what ya'll say then how would you categorize that?

my question is if you dont play the instrument parts and only play the drums did you produce that song?

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THIS TO SOMEBODY AND NO ONE FELT ME ON THIS! I've been tryin to find the answer to this one myself for a long time. Alot of producers dont play their own instruments, and i wouldnt feel right puttin only my name down as producer if someone else helped me on it.

This is all well and good if your music is coming from the same source. That is you have your keyboard with assorted gadgets connected to a computer. It's easy to be independant using that method.

But this just isn't practical if you want live instruments. It'd be completely unreasonable to expect one person to play every instrument on an album. It's hard enough to master one instrument, let alone to expect someone to learn several of them. Why do an average job playing the guitar or any instrument for that matter, when you can just as easily higher an accomplished musician to do it properly?

The responsibility of the producer is to just coordinate an organize the final product. Being a musician is bonus but it's not a necessity.

Quincy Jones produced Micheal Jackson's Thriller album and didnt play a single instrument on it.

o.k but here is a scenario majority of producers who havent got to the next level especially on the west are using midi equip to make beats some with just one keyboard others use a keyboard or mpc to sequence and other keys and modules for more sounds. So if your beats have no live instruments and lets just say for arguements sake to make it easy for everyone who arent familiar with midi lets do it like this
O.k a beat(cause this is what we really talkin about) is made with a triton or a fantom x I have my friend play the melody and baseline, I throw on a kick, a snare, and some hihats, then my friend plays some electric piano for some atmosphere and the beat is complete.Did I make this beat? or is it a collaboration

i also want to ask this, say you want a certain instrument, and u have someone play it for you, but he has no say in how the melody will go, u hum it out or mouth it until he gets it exactly the way u want it, now this might be what 50cal was implying, sorry im not sure, now is this produced by yourself, im leaning more towards yes, but if the other person has a say in what the shits gonna sound like, then i wouldnt say ITS YOUR OWN production.
