Aright, its a little early to call this the best album to come out the bay ever, but without a doubt I Give You My Word is a classic, the lyrics and production slap all the way through. I don't think there is one song on there I dont like. Its gotten some good radio play up in the bay, and I think when the distribution finally comes around it will sell well. What are your thoughts on Quinn's album being the BEST cd to come out the bay?

dave: like u said, it's tough to say now if it's the best or one of the best. in a couple years it might be in the top 5. this is a goodass cd. something different, maybe that's why some people didn't like it.

here's my best cd's to even come out the bay:

rbl -ruthless by law
quinn and mess -explosive mode
rompalation??

i dont totally agree with this guy but i do share most of his opinions....i wasnt really feeling this album at first just cause of all the hype and everybody saying it was the best shit ever to happen to the bay, those are some high as expectations,so it was a little dissapointing but as i soaked it in i started feeling it alot more and think its a solid album but i think quinns best work might still be to come so i'm not quick to try to say this is the best out of the bay ever....just think of all the albums you are putting that shit over when you say ever...thats crazy

I love it right now, but the passage of time can change things (for better and worse)

It's one of the best CDs to come out so far THIS YEAR, and I think it's Quinn's best solo overall since THE HUSTLE CONTINUES, but as far as whether it's even ONE of the best ever...wait another two-to-five years, play it again, and see how it sounds then. History and the passage of time can often dictate what category a CD fits into as far as quality (look at Brotha Lynch's LOADED. A lot of folks hated that CD back in '97, but now, some Lynchmeisters like it better than SOTS, so you never can tell). Just my opinion, though...

PEACE!

I think that there will never be another album to come out of the bay that will completely satisfy most people. Having said that, I think that many albums will be overlooked including this one. I have absolutely no dount in my mind that if this album were released 10 years ago it would be looked at as one of the greats if not the greatest. But still, it came out now and people tend to exagerate what they remember from the past and hold those on a much higher pedestal. Maybe in 5-10 years people will accept it as one of the greatest, but it will not be very likely, especially since it will not get nearly the national attention (in which it deserves) that some of the classics got.

MY WORDS EXACTLY. thank you!! haha. this album is tight, there's no doubt about it, if u think it's weak then u might not have the album!!! or u aren't as open to hearing new sounds or something. it fuckin amazes me when people talk down on albums like "i give u my word" or "breakin news". for the most part pretty much everyone was feelin i give u my word but there's always people who say fuck no that shit was weak. people are stuck in the past though especially on this board. some people on this board that have been posting for a while haven't even heard songs like hyphee or 16's wit me. lol. those are the same people that say the bay is weak and how it was sooooo much better in the mid 90's.

There is no such thing as the "best cd ever"...Quinn's cd was dope period...You have to give a nigga his credit when he is willing to break away from his own norms and take the challenge of growing as an artist-and IMO Quinn pulled that shit off...I would hate to hear somebody sound the same way they did a decade ago...a true artist tries new shit, touches new topics, ect...and having BALLS is what seperates the have's from the have not's...the leaders from the followers...plus no question predicated on opinion will ever fully be answered...just a humble rapper's 2cents
