well iono...i take my previous statement back...i only herd 1 cd by cog so i cant say hes better...

but automatic>row and uncut, shock treatment n gates mix plate
I'm glad you posted this. Kutts catalog far outweighs cog's... and I don't mind cognito. Shit flamez outweighs cogs catalog by itself, so that initial comment is just trash.

Although I enjoyed automatic its not one of those releases I revisit. I do think if cog can find somewhere he's comfortable to develop and continue to learn his craft, I think he could be more popular. I just really don't think a lot of people "get" cognito. Call it outside influences, previous artists (ie eminem), whatever the fuck he's just not that well received. Good luck to him tho if this is the truth.

Why do I feel like I've made this post before? (It probably won't be the last time either, sadly enough)

If I see Cognito rockin back and forth in a Waka Flacka video and flying around in a G6 on MTV in the next year, then I will believe he dropped the label.

We all know how fun and exciting it is to be hanging up posters on telephone poles and handing out cd's while the rest of the performers are in the bus enjoying the heater and XBOX, though.
LMAO!

The crazy thing is EVERYONE is assuming Strange DROPPED him, hmm. I guess either side is really ready to go into details. When Cog DOES come out to explain I believe people will see a WHOLE other side to what the relationship between the label and himself really consisted of. I can say it's NOT MY PART to say all that I know BUT it had NOTHING to do with sales, Cog not fitting in or ANYTHING like that. Cog's soundscans were over 6,000 AND his overall sales were right at about 8,000 total. The numbers had NOTHING to do with this situation, trust me. Lol
I laugh everytime this guy comes in here and defends cognito...lol

Wikipedia lists him as a former strange artist along with Prozak. IT MUST BE TRUE.
Prozak is signed to the label, though. lol

I sure hope somebody else pops in to mystically allude to why he's gone.

I know that I'm sweating bullets wondering why over here.

Hopefully DJ Pimp can take time off away from building up Haji's mostly nonexistent career to drop a few more vaguely on topic paragraphs about how it's not his business to discuss.

This isn't the mob. Nobody's gonna get shot for releasing info about a d-list rapper leaving a non-major label.

Kurt Loder will not be reporting this, and Matt Pinfield will never need to know the ties between Cognito's last label and what the future holds for him.

I too was first surprised about Cognito's signing. That said, Strange could've promoted him a bit better. He was to be on Strange Noize...why was he pulled? Why not work with Psy to get him a slot at the Gathering (where Tech, Prozak, and even Lynch all played)? Why not use your relationship with Subnoize to get him on a KMK tour, or even that recent Swollen Members/Saigon outing? Again, I feel a lil' more could've been done.

Actually, Sub Noize might not be a bad home for dude...

Strange has to been in the position to have some other "stars" on the label.

-I made my points here previously in regards to Cognito.

-Critical Bill and Ill Bill were lost oppotunities to get money from rock and hip-hop markets featuring fans that don't fuck with Tech. Period. End of story on that.

-I honestly cannot dismiss the idea that, if circumstances were different, maybe if there would've been a bigger push..."Genius" really should've made Krizz a bigger name. More sales, a bigger fan base (particularly one of his own), more of a headliner or at least getting on more (non-Strange) shows. Also can't dismiss that, while Kali's in a good spot, be damned if his work with Tech isn't a bit of a hinderence. Why? He's always on Tech's records, doing other artists' hooks, always traveling with Tech, doing shows with Tech. Not knocking BUT, his schedule is limited and damn near exclusive to Tech's. And his own "tour" was a mini one catering to Tech strongholds, where they "know" people will actually come out to see dude.

-I read Lynch's recent interview...he wants to step his live show game up, tour more, do his old songs live as well. That's great, because Strange really needs to take advantage of a ready-made artist (legend, to some) like Lynch and get him on his own headlining tours, or at least work to get him on a Psy tour as a co-headliner.

When it's all said and done, at this point: Tech's getting bigger, Strange has a $2.1 mil facility...but it's no thing for Psychopathic and Suburban Noize to have several acts on tour simultaneously. Strange ain't there yet, every tour's a Tech tour. We'll see what happens with Jay Rock, though I see noting special about dude. But if his new album gets the buzz, and he's put on that proposed Snoop/Tech tour, Strange may be able to capitalize.

One more thing: I'm not on this whole "Strange should sign blah blah blah" thing, BUT: Irv Da Phenom, Stevie Stone, Hopsin. I wouldn't be mad at any of those choices. And, if Strange isn't afraid of anyone questioning their decision to do so, signing Mystikal wouldn't be that bad either.

Not even close, Anthony.

Mystikal has the ability to go right back to mainstream unlike a lot of artists do. If they acquired him, they would be cast in the spotlight for a time. But then again, if their business sense is more Quincy Jones than Suge Knight, that's not going to happen.
