I know you said it "seems" that a Norteno has to hide his affiliation to become successful(in rap, right?) but what do you base this on? I look at Woodie and East Co Co as being successful in this bay area rap scene and they never hide it. I'm sure Mr. Kee sold alot of units, not just because of his talent but because people assumed he was a Norteno because of his work with Darkroom Familia, a group album with him and Poyo Loko flamed up and throwing 24 block and Westside, and releasing an album called 14K DREAMS on BLACK-N-BROWN.

So Cal rappers are only getting attention in Lowrider magazines and special "Chicano rap" specials because they limit themselves to that category. I see Norteno rappers being more successful in terms of quality because their collaborating with everyone in Northern cali, not just chicanos.

Ummm... naw man Cypress Hill is a varrio in Cypress Park (district of N.E. LA) and they are not bloods I'm sorry you have been misinformed. Maybe there is another gang somewhere (City of Cypress perhaps?) else that decided to use it but the fools in the rap group are talkin about a Cypress Park neighborhood in LA.
