Is it really that bad that he wants sales? Besides, it wasn't Tech's idea.
I'm sure the Nas thing was a mistake anyway.

^^^^wasnt tech's idea? well he wants it done anyway. why cant he just fucking promote instead of convincing the fans to buy 10 albums? i never see ANY promotion around here for him and believe me theres many place where it can be done and Boston is a major city. i just think it's fucking dumb. you want to be big tech then fucking try and get a record label to co-sign you n shit like u doing with uncle howie.

Ima give Tech the benifit of the doubt and say this whole Bum Rush(gay name btw) thing isn't his main tactic to get Killer to the top. This can't be the smartest thing they could think of right?
RIGHT?

Of course he'll co-sign people buying more copies.

I've never seen any promotion out here either. I've never even met a person who has heard of Tech.

It's whatever though. I don't really give a shit what he does.
I enjoy the music. I think that's enough.

What does having your fans go out and buy 10 copies of the album truly accomplish? "OMG! Tech debuts #1 on the Rap Charts!"... then falls the fuck down to #100 or some shit the next week. What an accomplishment.

It would be less wasted energy if they actually pushed a single to the Radio Stations and then got urged their fans to call in and request it 10 different times. You're not going to get new fans just because your album debuted high on the Billboard Charts, the majority of people don't even pay attention to them and that's if they even know what they are. However, people DO listen to the radio, they hear the requested single and they like it, so they call in and request it as they look into the artists... that's how you get new fans, not by inflating your first week sales.

Everyone buying multiple copies doesn't give Tech more fans, unless people who do so give them away. Fuck that though.

Problem with signing on to a major label is he'll loose all creative rights to his music, and he'd be a slave to whoever it was.

Dead-on accurate, but apparently that logic makes too much sense for Tech and Travis to comprehend...

Krazee man, you are DEAD ON by saying this is fucking stupid. Kain, what you said is 'the real' in a nutshell. Sounds like someone (Strange Music) is worried that their album (Killer) isn't doing as well as Everready did the first week. Hmmmm, I wonder why?

I am probably wrong about that, and Killer will be the fastest selling Tech N9ne album to date... I just get the feeling that not as many people bought multiple copies like they did with Everready. I know I didn't. I don't know about anyone else, but this begging for us to buy multiple copies (TEN or MORE?? LOL) has totally turned me off. Fuck paying for other people to listen to Tech. They can listen to my copy, and if they like it, go buy it their damn selves!

I read in that Whitlock article that Strange Music, after years in the black, will actually take home over 11 million dollars this year. Sure, a lot of that is spent trying to be some sort of Independent "powerhouse" record label by having all these artists on the payroll, but for real... pony-up and spend some money pushing a current single that is fresh (which all of the tracks on Killer currently are). I can see why TOG is "gun shy" about making a video from past experiences; also, MTV clearly sucks. Blah, blah, blah. But at least bend a little bit... TOG knows what it takes, he knows what he has in Tech N9ne.... give Tech what he deserves!! :eyecross:

Oh... and someone remind me..... how much does a Maybach cost? :ermm:

It matters not,
because travis owning a maybach
does not go against their fucking
principles.. some of you people here
are severely affected by down syndrome,
they have said it a million times..
no pay for play, its not a money issue,
its something certain people will never
understand.

maybe upgrade the promoters and street team as well. shit go look on eBay right now and i bet u'll see someone selling the samplers instead of giving them away and slipping them in bags at work n shit. i dunno no offense trav but it seems like u aint got what it takes to make tech what he can be, and hopefully u fucking prove me wrong but this way just doesnt seem right.

Watch yourself, "g.spot"..... I ask this question about the Maybach because Strange wants us to go spend our hard-earned money on a bunch of CDs that you don't need if you already have one. If they would just spend "some" money on a single, this alone would push album sales higher. Instead, they try and guilt the fan base (which is one of THE most loyal in the Hip-Hop Industry) into buying multiple copies. Most of us did that on our own with Everready without being told to do so. They saw that we were willing to do it then, so they figured they would remind us that we should do the same this time around.

But oops..... the economy is now weaker, there has been a Tech release in the past year, etc. You know, maybe if this was when Absolute Power came out, this would work a little bit more for me. I was single, and didn't have a care in the world. Well, six years later I am married, and have two children, among other things. Things change.

If Tech does well the first week, that's great, but what else does that accomplish? It makes Strange Music more money. What most of us want to see is longevity on the album sales, and I know that's what Strange wants as well. Hell, in todays market, I hope they are grateful that there are still people that will go out and buy ONE CD.

You have fun buying all those CDs then...... :eyecross:
