you can laugh, but don't feel sorry for me folks... the bay shit i listen to is new compared to the bay shit i listened to in the 90's. i don't listen to tha same ol' gangsta shit that was hot for the bay in the 90's. i still like 90's rap, fa sho, but i like some of the new shit tooo. my point is that there is new faces, new talent and all that.
No doubt! I agree with you there! The Area came with it's hottest joints and signatures from the early-mid 90's. KMEL did not play as much bullshit as it does today.

I think we need a powerhouse label out here somehow. Then from there, the market will shift. Roc A Fella and Def Jam dominate the east. Def Jam is even down south now. When the south was at its peak it had Suave House and No Limit. What the bay got for a powerhouse label?

Thats why the west was on top when Death Row was a major contender. We need that organization and vision for the bigger picture. Gotta get off that hustla-make-your-chips-quick tip.

Right now the bay ain't got shit for a powerhouse label running thangs. The closest thing you have is Sic-Wid-It and Hieroglyphics records, but I haven't seen many significant moves from both of them. If Hiero kept dropping more shit, then they would run shit.

Dre, Snoop, Suge, and all them already had some sort of a reputation before they all made Death Row what it is today, also the fact that they did not have any competition at that time for the music they were bringing gave them more of a lasting distinction/impression. I think it would be kinda tough for a bay area label to compete for something that Death Row has already established. That's like Sega or Nintendo trying to be the next Microsoft or some bullshit like that.

I believe 40 can do it, all he needs is a really different hit ass single and his shit would run shit! Same with $hort if he cared!

Done Deal is the closest thing the Bay has to a solid label with all round good talent that can do it but politics at major labels and radio are preventing them and the other tight artists in the Bay.

I think the Bay needs to take a break and come back hard, we are too saturated.

^^^ Do you at all think that you and Bayside may of had something to do with that... I agree that yall gave many dudes a chance in the game and everyone made cheese, but was that necessarly a good thing for the music?

I honestly couldn't tell you if it was or wasn't a good thing. I know this much, that alot of cats got to eat those last few years that wouldn't have eaten otherwise.

If I could go back and not sign half the shit that I did I would.
