1) Dump the majority of "rappers" and "producers" off the Golden Gate and let the talented ones shine.

2) Bring back our quality music. Most of our beats these days are crap that I can barely tolerate listening to. The majority of the time when I hear some supposed great new Bay shit, I take and listen and say, "What the fuck is this garbage?" One of the things that made the Bay so great during that 93-96 era was our music. Once that took a shit, we lost everything.

Quit selling your no-name artist verses in the sicc shop for 400+ dollars when you have no REAL accomplishments lmao ... I just looked in there for the 1st time and dayum some of you who post on here, you know you aint right ...

I aint even from the bay but I post on this bitch alot and I got some 'weables' from the bay so I always know what's crackin out there. We all tryin to get breaded and papered up but you gotta care for the growth of the area and the coast you representin if it is the people and the streets that you are representin. I know i'm sick of see'in east coast cats bitin our west coast shit and frontin like they made it ... Aint ya'll? ...

I aint the one, like I said I aint even from or reppin the bay cause i'm from pasadena but I dont think one person can bring it back, there aint no lebron james in the bay right now it has to be a collective effort from everyone ...

Since pac died I think that the voice of the west coast went with it. No one is really steppin up and bein heard from the west no more, we gotta kick the muh fuckah down, product in hand, ready to represent the west in the south and east ... If that means lacin yo' shit up and battlin some of these east coast cats or working with these south artists like bone crusher, T.I, Lil' Jon etc then by all means ... Respect to Locksmith, i'm trying to be where he at right now but i'm being patient with the homie kaveo (I see you ni99a) ... Holla@chadawg

Business-wise we need a more solid distribution situation. Back then we had City Hall, The Music People, etc... We just don't have that anymore.

Music People is gone. City Hall is still around but how much effort do they really put into pushing Bay albums other than Mac Dre and his camp along with a few others? That's no knock on Dre. The man sells lots of records for Walter over there, but everyone else is second and third class over there. Bayside is around, but I don't know how solid that is these days.

We lost the Gavin, our big music seminar. The last shit they did out here was what, Sessions Conference in '97? How many big rap industry events have happened here since? Back then the majors would be out here and we'd have a chance to get our music in their ears. Now, the majority of people have no way to get an audience with the bigwigs and A&R's. We need a big music function out here to bring attention back.

Radio and video situation is fucked too. It's a sad fuckin' situation when it's some kind of special occasion when KMEL, etc plays some Bay shit. I do understand how radio works as far as programming, but back then we had a little more love. We had "Battle of the Rappers". We had certain slots where Bay rap was in rotation as heavily as the rest of the playlist. Now they spin a couple Bay songs and act like they're reperesenting the Bay and really holding it down for us and supporting us. Cats used to be able to go down there on Monday or Tuesday mornings (it's been so long I can't remember which day it was) and get a sit down with Alexander Mejia or whoever and he'd check your music out and possibly get it in the mix. Good luck gettin' through the doors at KMEL now.

As for videos, yeah, good luck. CMC will show you plenty of love. Used to be able to shoot a video for a few g's and Andy would play your shit. Hell he might even direct it. How many local videos do you see on CMC?

Aw fuck it, I'm pissed. I'll be back.

Bayside didn't oversaturate, we brought alot of cats back that couldn't get manufacturing and marketing dough to release tjheir projects. Dude's you may have never heard of again if it weren't for us. Also, if we over saturated the game there had to be enought artists out there to be a part of that. We merely provided an outlet it wasn't up to us to play GOD and decide who could and couldn't come out. Sure we passed on some stuff but for the most part if you haad a decent album and a good head on your sh oulders (and sometimes not even that) then we would fuck with you.

Regardless of what the current state of this industry is muthafuckaz need to recognize Bayside came in and did alot when no one else would. Good or bad experince, like them or not, we put in work and now everyone's complaining cuz they got records with no one to put them out.

We spoiled the Bay, no saturated it.

Oh and about brigning the Bay back, it was never gone, just the business side of it and that's over mark my words.

Bayside allowed a lot of shit to come out, like the album or not. In a way some of the shit shouldnt of got dropped, but my opinion differs from others. Ive seen in the back of a few albums and there dist. by bayside, they still droppin some shit.

Distro & Marketing is one part of the whole situation. Product is what sells though. The consumer wants the best & nowadays people are getting happy over (for example: thizz releases) Rydah & Sumthin Terrible type of material. Now dont get me wrong cause I like these albums, but they could have been WAY better.

These cats gotta come hungry, shit you used to just listen & feel the emotion & effort into album. UDI, Dre Dog, Celly Cel, production wise Ant Banks, Laid...ect.

Bottom line, the music is still comin good, but not as good as it can be. "Quality before quantity"

It became way to easy to put out a cd......that's what oversaturated the market...EVERYBODY was rappin!!

Just because you can doesn't mean you should!

Rap that is.....

And about bayside......they did so much for the bay when people had already given up on it! They deserve props! Not Knocks!

Just my 2 pennies!

lets see:

1. If you are a rapper with a good name, dont ruin your name by putting out a wack cd, wack compilation, etc. BECAUSE IT HAS YOUR FUCKIN NAME ON IT...

2. Quit trying to be like the Eastcoast when it comes to radio songs and music videos, almost every song I hear from bay artists on the radio or on tv doesnt sound original or bay oriented and the videos (like one rapper with a gang of his homies in a club) isnt very original either...use the sound you have on your album to attract heads...

Yup, and I feel that a lot of that oversaturation comes from the 91siccness and Raptalk...Call me what you want, but I just call it how I see it. Too many muthafuckas tryna rap that just plain and simple shouldn't...that's how I feel anyway, and this is my opinion.

Well couldnt that be part of the problem right there? "Decent albums" is whats flooding the game. The Bay needs nothin but heat in this shit to start turning some heads again. Not just dudes with an aight album and a good head on they shoulders. My two coins.

While there are a lotta cats on these sites tryin' to rap, it's a small percentage of the problem. The majority of the boo boo shit is released by people who don't post online. And it's not all just up and coming type guys either. Some people who've been around and dropped quality shit in the past are now droppin' garbage. They are just as much to blame as the newcomers, regardless of their veteran status.

i don't think oversaturation is the issue !! there has and always will be weak rappers and tons of wack cd's that come out.........raptalk and 91siccness is just an "ant" compared to the whole industry..........

if someone had the answer to "bringing the bay back" or "who's gonna blow from the bay" they'd be rich right now !!

until someone takes the time and puts out something the WHOLE WORLD can listen to.........not just for "the bay" then that might be a start........

I honestly think part of the problem is the fact that a lot of artists commin out from the bay right now either sound like the Luniz or try to copy off other bay artists so that they could attempt to sound marketable to the people that already buy that particular product from the artists that they try to impersonate.

I am not trying to talk shit or knock out ya hustle, but there are just too many cats commin out of the bay area that sound the same or not have any significance. A lot of yall that I see aren't even trying to reach out to new markets or trying something original.

The very best year for the bay (in my opinion) was '96. But after pac died, and whack ass Diddy came out, everyone thought they could rap after seeing the kind of paper you can get out of it. It even gets worse when Eminem comes, and now we got all these whack wanna be slim shady whitey white motherfuckers commin out of tha suburbs and trailer parks and tryin to rap and battle and shit.
