Rios calling out Soto for "hand picking" his opponents.
That's the first I have ever heard of that.
No one wants to fight Soto. He doesn't really have a long list of people to choose from.

Make it happen!!!
I wouldn't say that no one wants to fight him just that there's no reason to fight him. I've never heard anyone backing down from Soto and I've never seen a Soto performance that made me think "wow all these other champions better stay the fuck away from this guy." Soto is a true professional, he puts in his work and if you don't have power and high level boxing skills he's gonna grind you down and possibly stop you.

If people were turning down fights with Soto left and right trust me Arum would be in the media making a fuss out of it .. the problem is there likely not going after tougher fights than what they're getting and there's usually a reason for that.

I just now caught the Sept. 11th fight on HBO. That dude Rios is something else thats for sure. He is from the same small town in Kansas as Victor Ortiz too, didn't know that. When they were talking about his past and growing up and getting into street fights n' what not...Garden City, Kansas does not come to mind...lol

Ya'll seen after the fight he said he wouldn't mind fighting Ortiz at 138 either, he'll he even said he'd move up to 145 to fight him...lol

Being that they are from the same city and fight out of the same gym makes me wonder if they got some bad blood between them or he just wants to go heads up with the other guy from his town to see who the real Garden City fighter is.

I like it though...2 quality homegrown fighters out of Kansas baby!

For some reason I think Mosley is going to lose this fight and Mora is a bum but he's the bigger man. Please Mosley win this fight I want to see you fight Cotto again or Pac-man.

Mosley should be able to knock him out. He might struggle for the first few rounds or so because Mora is a little awkward and will be fighting cariously, but sooner or later shanes gonna connect and mora is gonna go down.

Only way shane loses is if he looks even older then he did against floyd. don't see that happening.

2-0-Sixx it's easy for Gamboa to KO a bunch of bum early in his career. My question is can he still KO an good or elite fighter, and judging by last weekend I'm not sold on him yet. I don't care about his KO record against bums and cab drivers I want to see him look good against a good fighter.

Gamboa has actually faced pretty solid opposition for his first 2 years as a pro (19 fights).

Typically, when someone turns pro they fight guys with losing records, straight taxi cab drivers, bums, etc. Gamboa has never fought anyone with a losing record. His opponents, in order from 1st pro fight to most recent are as follows:

6-1
7-0
40-11 (never do you see a guy with 2 fights fight a guy with over 50)
12-5
17-4
25-1
19-2
7-4
13-1
23-2
27-3
25-0
27-2
35-8
25-6 (belt holder)
22-6
26-13 (this was rogers Mtagwa, the same guy that nearly KO'd JuanMa)
28-0
34-10 (belt holder)

That's a combined record of 418-69.

Compare that, to say, Timothy Bradley. His first 19 fights:

0-0 (debut)
0-0 (debut)
0-1
0-1
1-2
1-9
14-42
0-1
11-16
10-2
6-2
9-11
8-0
9-12
18-12
7-16
20-5
30-9
23-6

That's a combined record of 167-147.

So clearly, Gamboa has fought good opposition and he's already a unified champion (WBA & IBF). To unify two belts in your first 19 pro fights is pretty impressive, as it rarely ever happens.

Now, as far as beating and KO'ing elite fights, depends on who you're talking about. The top guys at 126 are:

1. Chris John
2. JuanMa Lopez
3. Gamboa
4. Orlando Salido (who gamboa just beat)
5. Cristobal Cruz
6. Elio Rojas
7. Daniel Ponce De leon
8. Bernebe Concpcion
9. Rafael Marquez
10. Antonio Escalante

Out of these guys, the only guy I see giving Gamboa problems is Lopez. The other person who is ranked at 126 is Caballero only because he's 6 feet tall and gamboa is 5'5.

You don't think Chris John gives Gamboa problems? At his best, which means minus the Juarez fights, John is a long, accurate, counter puncher with very good footwork. John isn't an easy fight for ANYONE on that list.

Chris John is no longer at his best though. If he had a time machine, yeah, he'd give everyone problems, but I think he's past his best days and is perfect to get beat.

Weights: Shane Mosley 154, Sergio Mora Overweight, 157

By Ernest Gabion, at the scale

The weights are in for Saturday's big card at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California to celebrate 200 years of Mexican independence. In the main event, former champions Shane Mosley and Sergio Mora will collide. Shane Mosley easily made the division limit at 154. Mora was three pounds over the junior middleweight limit at 157-pounds.

BoxingScene.com is attempting to find out if Mora will be allowed time to lose the weight or the fight will move forward with the three pound advantage.

So far, the ruling given, more than likely with the California State Athletic Commission involved, is for Mora to lose no more than two-pounds, and he will also lose 20% of his purse.

STAY TUNED FOR MORE.............

Undercard Weights:

Junior middleweight prospect Saul "Canleo" Alvarez weighed in at 150.5-pounds. Former welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir was 153.4-pounds.

A over-the-weight contest between junior welterweight contenders. One fighter will lose their nickname. "Vicious" Victor Ortiz came in at 142-pounds, and "Vicious" Vivian Harris was 143.5, 1.5-pounds over the agreed upon weight of 142. He has to lose the pound and a half.

Featherweights Antonio Escalante and Daniel Ponce De Leon will open up the pay-per-view event. Escalante came in at the division limit, 126-pounds. Ponce De Leon was close to it as well, at 125.8.

Wow Mora couldn't make weight. Come on Mosley KO this bum and move on to better fights. 2-0-Sixx we will see about Gamboa soon enough he has the talent to be the king of 126lb, but does he have the mental focus to do it.

I would be the most worried about his defense, Kellerman I think it was pointed out in between rounds Salido threw a punch kinda of up close before tying up that hit Gamboas chest. If the punch landed higher would have done some serious damage. Gamboa needs to keep his hands up

Chris John is no longer at his best though. If he had a time machine, yeah, he'd give everyone problems, but I think he's past his best days and is perfect to get beat.
John pretended like he was a volume puncher against Juarez based off Juarez' shitty style of barely fighting and hoping his left hook does the job that it never seems to do against higher opposition. He's not suited for that style.. against Gamboa though he'd have a higher probability of sitting back and taking advantage of Gamboa's aggressiveness especially if he can get Gamboa frustrated with potshotting, movement, and just all around clean counters.

Would I pick Gamboa? Of course I would. Easy fight? Definitely not.

BTW .. everyone should go out of their way to Jackson Asiku Vs. Jhonny Gonzalez. Awesome fight.
