I thought bigface was talking about 168. If we're talking straight up joe has the edge cuz of the hopkins win, even though he probably should have lost or got a draw.

Glen Johnson was 39 or 40, or whatever, yeah he was older but I thought that was Froch's best performance up till tonight, as he dominated which isn't an easy task even against an older Johnson. He also dominated Abraham and beat Taylor, both very solid wins at the time and got a decision over Dirrell. That's 5 solid wins at 168 and Joe has 2 solid wins.

edit

forgot jean pascal too. what a resume at 168. Don't really think there is another fighter that has fought such good opponents back to back like this. No tune ups, no stay busy fights, in order:

Jean Pascal
Jermain Taylor
Andre Dirrell
Mikkel Kessler (close loss)
Arthur Abraham
Glen Johnson
Andre Ward (loss)
Lucien Bute
Co-sign 100% Froch resume shits all over Slappy Joe's resume. Joe gets no credit Joe for his so-called win over B-hop, in a fight that he hit the deck.

We all know Froch didnt really beat Dirrell but hes get more credit then Joe imo cuz he never ducked anyone. Joe didnt fight Hopkins or Jones until they were in there 40's cuz hes a coward. Froch is a bit better then i thought but also got worked by Kessler. Hes still not one of the top guys but that division is pretty deep

I also don't give credit to close decisions where a guy got knocked down.

To this day I don't understand the people that scream robbery over that fight. I'm sure you'd find differing opinions that would be close to 50/50 on who won that fight.

I wasn't a fan of Calzaghe or his fighting style much but being a lineal champion in the same division that Froch is fighting in plus beating an ATG in Hopkins ranks him over Froch, IMO. And are we only giving credit to wins that turned out to be good cause Jeff Lacy was a fantastic win for Calzaghe when it happened.

If Andre Dirrell turns out to be a bust can I strike him from Froch's list? Can I bring up the closeness of the fight as to why that shouldn't be on his list? Can I bring up that Jermain Taylor & Arthur Abraham haven't done dick above middleweight as to why those fights don't mean as much as the names?

I just don't agree that Froch is head and shoulders above Calzaghe when Calzaghe became the man in the division, including beating a guy that Froch lost to in the process.

level of opposition must be considered though. if calzaghe fought that tough of a schedule back to back I'm sure he would have lost a fight or two. instead he fought a tough opponent twice in ten years in lacy and kessler, with guys like Peter manfedo and Tucker pudwill in between.

I'm sure if Froch fought bums for ten years then fought dirrell and bute he would be a legend too. but instead he fought every tough fighter there was to fight, that's the difference between the two imo. calzaghe was "scared" of flying overseas that was his excuse, even though he flew on family vacations and suddenly was cured of this fear when hopkins and jones were in their 40s.

I don't claim him to be a legend and if Froch keeps up what he's doing no doubt in my mind he'd surpass Calz. I just don't think he's there yet.

Nice sig btw. Jackson was getting schooled bad and then straight up blew Graham away with one punch.

Carl Froch: Forget a Rematch, Bute May Never Fight Again!

Carl Froch fears he may have ended Lucian Bute's career after delivering a "devastating beating" which crowned him a three-time world champion while crushing his opponent's unbeaten record.

The Englishman snatched Bute's IBF super-middleweight title with a superb fifth-round stoppage in Nottingham last night and is now contracted to travel to Canada, where Romanian Bute is based, to defend the belt in a rematch.

However, the 34-year-old believes Bute may never fight again, let alone step into the ring for second dose.

He said: "Personally I don't think Bute will want the rematch because as a fighter, I looked into his eyes and after round three I saw something drain from him. Something only a fighter can see.

"I don't think he's going to want to fight again, let alone fight me again. Honestly.

"He came here unbeaten and got absolutely, devastatingly beaten.
That doesn't happen often to top-level fighters.

"That is a beating, the whupping of all whuppings. I've not seen it back yet. I'm not bragging. I don't want to hurt anybody, I'm not proud of hurting people but that's what I'm in the ring to do. If the boot was on the other foot, you know what would happen.

"That was some performance by me - and I think it was a career-ending performance. You never know. I don't know what he's made of, so we'll see."
