larry merchant was way off base for criticising hopkins......after almost 15 months of inactivity he fought a fool who came to survive not fight, it would have been hard for anybody to look real good the way dude was not fighting.....as far as right now hopkins would beat any of those jr middles because of his phsyical strength and defense ability(plus he has one of the best chins in the sport).......they might be faster and flashier but bernard is just to damn strong(ask tito)...but, he is 38 so his clock is ticking and he needs to stay active.....i would like to see him fight howard eastman from europe who i thought got robbed against william joppy as he had joppy hurt several times......also that judah-corley would be entertaning fight......corley needs to stop running his mouth because joppy slugged that cat in the chops a couple of months ago for talking to much......yall been watching that hbo series on the fights....i loved that larry holmes-cooney as that was the first fight i remember sitting down and watching as a kid, shit that fight right there actually made larry holmes might first sports hero and since then ive been hooked on the fights......damn time flys, dont it?????

E,
I agree with you, Hopkins looked good inspite of his inactivity.
He had no chance but to deffend his belt against this chump. It ain't his fault that he's being forced to fight these shitty ass #1 contendors. I think he would have a huge advantage against any of the JR. Middleweights, because of his natural size as you mentioned. Look out for Jermain Taylor, he's looking better and better after each fight. The cat needs to step up and fight some one good though....

Yeah Eastman was clearly robbed, he whipped Joppy's ass.
But I think this was part of King's deal for Joppy after losing to Trinidad. Remember how Joppy kept dropping his guard against Trinidad?..... It all makes sense now....

Can't wait till HBO airs Chavez VS Taylor.
That fight made me a boxing fan for ever....

Larry Holmes was the man back in the early and mid 80's.
He held the title for 6 or 7 years. No one ever gave him the credit he deserved. White folks didn't like him for kickin Cooney's ass and black folks didn't like him for knocking out Ali.
Tough crowd....

^^^ LOL BUT TELL ME YOU WOULDNT BE PISSED IF YOU LOST THE UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP LIKE HE DID, AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF KOSTA SAID HE WONT GIVE HIM A REMATCH,
ALL I GOT TO SAY IS THAT KOSTA WAS THERE TO FIGHT AND JUDAH WAS THERE TO RUN, IF I RECALL CORRECTLY HE GOT KNOCKED SOWN A COUPLE TIMES? AND ON THE LAST ONE HE DIDNT KNOW WHAT PLANET HE WAS ON. HE WAS WACKED HARD.

THEN AFTER THE FIGHT HE CREATED A SCANDLE. WHY WOULD KOSTA WANT TO FIGHT HIM AGAIN? I KNOW I WOULDNT

MCLEAN JUDAH GOT KNOCKED DOWN ONLY ONCE AGAINST KOSTA RIGHT AT THE END OF THE SECOND ROUND, BUT HE GOT UP LIKE A SECOND AFTER HE HIT THE CANVAS WHICH WAS WAY TO SOON I GUESS CUZ HE WASNT USED TO GETTING KNOCKED DOWN SINCE IT WAS HIS FIRST TIME GETTING KNOCKED DOWN,

BUT WHEN HE GOT BACK UP HE STARTED WOBBLING AND FELL BACK DOWN AND THE REF STOPPED IT RIGHT THEN AND THERE WHICH WAS TOTALLY UNFAIR IN MY OPINION BUT HEY THATS MY OPINION.

Why? Because Sharmba Mitchell is ranked number 1 and Tszu barely beat him the first time.
Mitchell fought him with one leg and still gave him a fight.
If I'm Tszu, I would erase all doubts and fight this guy to prove I'm the best.
But what does Tszu do? He says that he already beat Mitchell and says that he has no reason to fight him again since he's not a worthy opponent.
Now that's the first time I hear a champ calling the number one contender a non-worthy opponent.

Then the whimp says the same thing about Judah.
He better watch out, Judah's ranked number 2 and he'll have to fight him again sooner or later.
Wanna bet Judah will knock him out?
Tszu got lucky and knows it....

Did you see Ricky Hattan over the weekend?
I pick him to knock Tszu out too.
Don't know but Tszu reminds me of Trinidad, nothing but Don King hype....

^^^ HOLY SHIT YOU HIT IT RIGHT ON THE DOT, TRINIDAD DIDNT HAVE SKILLS ALL HE HAD WAS POWER PUNCHES EVEN THOUGH THAT IS A VALUABLE THING TO HAVE BUT WHEN YOU FIGHT SKILLFUL FIGHTERS YOU FIND OUT YOU NEED MORE THEN JUST POWER TO BEAT THEM,

WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT KOSTA TSZU YES HE CAUGHT JUDAH BUT SHIT I THINK IT WAS THE LUCKIEST PUNCH HE EVER THREW IN HIS LIFE, JUDAH KINDA LOST CONCENTRATION WHEN HE WAS MOVING BACK BUT UNTIL THEN JUDAH BY FAR GOT THE BEST OF HIM, I DIDNT SEE THE KOSTA AND SHARMBA MITCHELL FIGHT I DONT THINK BUT AINT POSITIVE,

RICKY HATTAN IS GOOD I JUST DONT KNOW HOW GOOD, TO ME HE HASNT FOUGHT ANYONE SPECIAL YET KIND OF LIKE HOW THE KLISTCHO BROTHERS ARE AND WERE LOL,

I am back to shead some light on the facts. Judah has been down numerous times in his career. How he reacted when he got up is what stopped the fight. You cant expect a ref to let you fight when you cant stand straight. The way Judah acted after the fight, (pushing the ref & all the shit talk) is why Tszyu said he isint gonna get a tittle shot. You can call it a lucky punch, but in Boxing luck equals preperation, training and oppurtunity. Say what you will but Kostya knocked Zab the fuck out period.

As for Mitchell, I think he and Tszyu had a helluva a fight until it ended. If I recall I had it a draw or Tszyu up by a round, but I remember Sharmba had him flustered and was catching him. I am not a huge Tszyu fan at all, but I dont think he is ducking anyone. At his weight he has fought tougher comp than anyone else.

@Playa,

Yeah Trinidad had nothing but offense.
I guess that's why he's statying in retirement, everyone knows how to beat him now and he knows that.

About Ricky Hattan, he answered my questions. He can take a punch and can fight all night, he's got good stamina.
I just don't see Tszu doing anything affective against him, all he has is a jab and a straight right hand.

@Big E,
It probably wasn't a lucky punch but I can say he got lucky when sorry ass Jay Nady stopped the fight.
It was the end of the round, of a championship unification bout.
Judah's been down before....
My take is that Judah would've knocked him out regardless of how bad he was hurt by that right hand.
Judah was handing him ass in the first round fought too relaxed in the second round.
It's all speculation now, and like I said, Judah ain't going no where. Tszu will have to fight him one way or another.
And you best believe Tszu is ducking Mitchell.
How can Tszu say that he's not even a worthy opponent judging by what happenned in the first fight?
Tszu isn't stupid, he knows his limits....

Judah is much to slick of a Boxer for Tszyu, but when he got cocky, he got caught. Judah could have boxed Tszyu like he did in the 1st round for the whole fight, but he didnt and he paid for it. Judah is a punk, but he is an excellent fighter. He does have a glass jaw though and that will always haunt him.

All that aside we got Barrera a true warrior, and always game Kevin Kelly going at it this weekend. Mab should get an easy win by TKO RD 6.

Finally Ward/Gatti III has just been announced. The rubbermatch should be great and Ward is saying that it will be his last fight.

I don't even understand why Barrera's fighting Kelly.
Maybe a tune up but I'll be damn.
I much rather pay to watch Barrera fight RJ's buddy Derrick Gainer who's fighting in the undercard.

Too bad Gatti couldn't work something out to fight Tszyu.
But Gatti/Ward 3 should be interesting at best.
I thought Gatti clearly won the first fight and caught a big break when he hurt Ward early in the rematch.
Ward never fully recovered from that tremendous right hand.
Maybe this fight will be more competative then the last, if Ward doesn't get caught early again.

WARD AND GATTI 3 YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME, GATTI DESTROYED HIM IN THE SECOND FIGHT, IT DOESNT MATTER IF THEY BOTH WON ONE, GATTI MADE IT CLEAR HE IS BETTER AT THIS POINT IN THERE CAREERS, WARD IS GETTING OLD, HOW IS GATTI BENEFITING FROM THIS HE NEEDS TO TRY TO GO FOR A BELT NOT FIGHT A GUY FOR THE THIRD TIME AND NOT EVEN GAIN ANYTHING FROM IT BUT ANOTHER W.

ITS FUNNY TO ME HOW ALL THESE ANALYSTS MAKE KOSTA OUT TO BE THIS GREAT FIGHTER AND THEY MAKE IT SEEM LIKE NOONE CAN TOUCH HIM.

ANYONE SEE TSZYU'S LAST FIGHT, IM PRETTY SURE IT WAS AGAINST LEIJA OR HOWEVER YOU SPELL IT BUT LEIJA WENT ALL OUT ON KOSTA AND WAS WHOOPING KOSTAS ASS BUT HE THREW HIMSELF OUT AND JUST THREW IN THE TOWEL AFTER THE 6TH ROUND. TO BAD LEIJA IS NOT YOUNGER CUZ HE WOULD HAVE FOR SURE BEAT KOSTA IF HE KEPT UP THAT SAME PACE HE STARTED OUT WITH THE WHOLE FIGHT!!!

True, Gatti's already beaten him twice.
But hey, money talks.

About Tszyu,
No one can touch him cuz he ain't gettin in the ring with anyone.
Sure he fought Judah but then what? He fought Mitchell and what happenned? And before that, the only credible fighter he fought was Phillips, and Vince whooped his ass.

And I too felt Leija was whoopin him but ran out of gas.
Playa, it's only a matter of time.
He's goin down sooner or later.

i dont think he is a super fighter. and i dont think anybody else makes him out to be either. its just that he works hark and never stops trying. he is a bit of an overachiever but you cant knock him because he has baten just about every1 he has fought and hasnt ducked either.

hes kind of like paulie ayala. nothing super but finds ways to win.

I could watch Gatti and Ward fight 100 times. Granted their last fight wasnt as good as the first, but it was still better than 90% of the fights you see. Both fighters have tremendous heart and fight with honor. They are not the best fighters around or even in theri weight class but they are P4P champs in heart and guts. Ward was blasted in their last fight but still finished it off when many other fighters would have took the easy way out. I will be watching from somewhere in Vegas.
