I am completed unsatisfied with the fights tonight.
I have been waiting for this night for months, and this is what I get.

Rahman beat Tua, I had it 116-112.
It was called the DRAW.
I didn't bet on this fight, but I swear I will never bet on boxing until a national commission is put into place.

Hopkins fights this fool from France, who hit softer than Omar Weis. The guy danced around the whoel fight, then his corner gave up.

No real fights comin up for a couple weeks.

Mayweather will fight Sosa in April, since his other opponent was exposed before he fought Mayweather.

April 26 will be the biggest next to come.
Toney vs Jirov
Tarver vs Griffin

OH, and I was crackin up as Larry Merchant was straight clownin on Hopkins.

I agree with both of those statements. Boxing is going to shit, and at one point in time it was the most popular sport in the world. Its startin' to turn into wrestling, if the names arent known and the storyline doesnt catch attention then not too many tickets are gonna sell and ppl could care less.

Who here caught when Hopkins told Larry Merchant to "stop being a nigga"? That had me and my friend cracking up. I was looking forward to the Tua vs Rahman but I was let down, too much holding and not enough action.

Fuck! I came so fucking close to droppin money on this fight.
$100 on Rahman and $100 on a draw.
Shit! I would've won $2600!

The only thing to stop me was watchin the weigh in, Rahman came in fat as fuck.
Shit, my bet had gone through already but I pulled out on the last minute!

Rahman was robbed for sure.
He even knocked that foo after the fight too.
The only reason this fight was a draw was because the odds for a draw were 26 to 1.

As far as boxing going down the drain? Bullshit!
People have been saying that for the past 2 decades.
Lets let go of this old cliche....
Boxing is here to stay, especially with Senator McCain pushing for a national sanctionning body. It's only gonna get better in spite of what Don King does....

He said, "stop being ignorant".
Shit was funny, he told his ass off!

Why is everyone hatin on Hopkins though?
Is it because he knocked out Felix "Pu-tito" Trinifagg?
Larry went as far saying that any of the top Jr. Middleweights could beat Hopkins. Now that is bullshit!
The only one with a "chance" is De La Hoya.
The rest wouldn't even have a chance....

Once again, Larry Merchant displayed his true colors...

larry merchant is one of the more knowledgeable commentation/boxing experts. the reason he said that is because Hopkins did not impress. he looked like if age was catching up to him.

if it is than the jr. middleweights do have a great chance against him. if he hasnt lost a step (which i doubt) then like you said the only one that can beat him is DLH

I was wondering about the odds of a draw to....26-1, damn.
The bets are really controlling fight outcomes, I have seen it too many times.

I don't like Hopkins cuz he comes in with a RJJ or James Toney attitude, but he doesn't fight tough opponenets.
How long do u think Hakkar would last with Roy Jones? Not even passed roung 2. Same with Trinidad, he would destroy Hakkar.
Hopkins took Trinidad, yes, and what has he done since then....Carl Daniels (Former ESPN 2 fighter) and then Hakkar.
I think Hopkins is a B+ fighter, not bad at all...I just don't like his attitude.
Nobody really cares to see him fight, and he acts like he's in the spot light. He sold a crowd of 4000 in his home town!

Hopkins vs Lucas would be a good fight, and I see him gettin worked by Lucas. Yet, this will never happen.

^^^no, what were they
De La Hoya is walking towards the ring (to fight Chavez for the 2nd time I think).
De La Hoya's steppin in with some Mariachi music wearin Mexico/USA trunks.
Merchant starts talking about how De La Hoya is now trying to expand his fan base to include more Mexican fans.
So he's coming out for this fight in a different way to appeal to Mexican fans.

Which I guess kind of hurt Merchant's feelings whom once said that Oscar looked different from all previous Mexican fighters.
And even looked different than other Mexican American fighters. He wasn't talking about his style, but his looks.

So Merchant goes on talking about Oscar trying to appeal to Mexicans and says some shit like;
"Here's Oscar coming in wearin the Mexican flag in his trunks and has a Mariachi band in the ring. And even though this is beautiful music...... This sucks!".........

My take, Merchant saw Oscar as the closest thing to a very good "White fighter".
And it hurt him to see Oscar being so patriotic to his Mexican roots....

714,

A lot of folks don't like certain fighters because of their attitudes, so I understand.

As far as who can beat Hopkins right now?
How about Joe Calzoge?
I think that's how you spell his name.
I think he needs to go after him, instead of the JR. Middleweights.
The fact that Calzage is a super middle weight might have a little to do with him not challanging him.

We'll have to wait to see what Oscar does after his rematch with Mosley. That will tell what Hopkins will do.
We might see another Middle weight tournament though.
Hopkins mentioned a possible fight with Winky Right.
It looks as if the the winner out of that fight if it developes would fight the winner of the Shane and Oscar fight.
That would be fun to watch....

As for the Merchant/Oscar rift, If you recall back when Oscar first hit the Pro's Bob Arum hyped up the whole Golden Boy/Olympic Gold Medalist thing. I dont think anyone is gonna knock Oscar or what he wants to do or his heritage and representing it in the ring, and he was off base for doing so. I remember Oscar used to wear Stars & Stripes to the ring all the time. Merchant was probably insinuating that Oscar is/was a sellout who will do anything to win a crowd or get more money. A lot of people agree with that, but looking at the job that Oscar and Arum have done, and they made a Welterweight into one of the richest fighters in the past 25 years. Doesnt mean that Oscar cant hit the ring with Marachi, but I think the timing of it was more of a marketing tool just like when he started off in the red, white and blue.

Regardless he should have gave Sweet Pea a rematch and not Chavez anyway.

Also I am mad cuzz I had Rahman by Dec and put a bill down on it. I get my money back, but I would have won $460.

Finally Zab "Chicken Legs" Judah socked Demarcus "Chop Chop" Corley over the weekend, and both guys want to get it on in the ring now.

i cant stand Zab since his incident right after the kosta fight in the ring.

to me he showed no class, and lost what little respect i had for him.

i had an idea of what he was like before the fight. based on an old saying "tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are". his close friends were fernando vargas and mike tyson

^^^ LOL BUT TELL ME YOU WOULDNT BE PISSED IF YOU LOST THE UNDISPUTED CHAMPIONSHIP LIKE HE DID, AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF KOSTA SAID HE WONT GIVE HIM A REMATCH,

KOSTA IS THE BIGGEST BITCH TO ME, WHEN HE BEAT BEN TACKIE BEN TACKIE WAS TRYEN TO BE COURTIOUS TO KOSTA AND SHOW HIM RESPECT AND ALL THAT,

THEN BEN TACKIE SAYS TO HIM HOPEFULLY WE CAN HAVE A REMATCH AND KOSTA SAYS I DONT THINK SO RIGHT TO HIS FACE AND I FELT HELLA BAD FOR BEN TACKIE CUZ HE SEEMS LIKE HE HAS CLASS AND RESPECT AND YOU DONT SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN THAT SITUATION UNLESS YOU DONT LIKE THE PERSON SO FUCK KOSTA!!!!

Playa, you can say that again.
I lost all respect for Kosta after his fight with Zab.
The chicken won't even give Judah his deserved rematch.
And what about Sharmba Mitchell?
He's ranked number one and Kosta already said he won't fight him. Sayin that he's not even in his class. How can he say that after the way he beat him?
He barely beat a one legged man who would've whooped his ass if he hadn't injured himself.

That sucka's even afraid of Arturo Gatti....
Call me crazy but I'd bet Gatti would knock him out.
It's in the match up of styles, not in skills....
