Canelo would handle Martinez with ease.....

He ain't no fuckin Chavez. Canelo is a boxer who can make Martinez miss too, but with the same power (or more) as Chavez.
U forgot about experience. Also Chavez is much bigger than Canelo and his punching power is harder based on his size advantage. Martinez is bigger than Canelo so I dont think Canelo can hurt Martinez as easy as Chavez Jr. did. We will see if the fight happens but my money is on Martinez, atleast at the moment. Got Em!!

Broner’s dad: Ricky Burns ran from Adrien once; he’ll do it again
October 9th, 2012 | Post Comment

Broner DeMarco Broner vs. DeMarco ricky burns adrien broner By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner’s dad doesn’t see WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO’s) being seriously interested in wanting to face Adrien in a unification match in 2013 despite Burns having said that he’d like to take that fight.

Broner’s dad said to Fighthype.com “Ricky Burns, we know you ran from us up to 135. We’re about to catch you at 135. Burns don’t want none. He can keep running. He’s a bum.”

Broner himself doesn’t see worried at all about beating up on Burns if the chance presents itself. But you got to wonder whether the fight will ever happen because the last time that Broner was trying to get a fight with Burns last year when Broner was the #1 WBO contender and Burns was the WBO super featherweight champion, Burns vacated his title suddenly and moved up in weight just at the time that Broner was set to fight him.

Yeah, we’ve already heard the excuses about Burns having problems making the super featherweight limit and all, but the timing of him doing this has a lot of boxing fans thinking that Burns ducked Broner rather than taking this dangerous fight. What makes me wonder is why did Burns choose that time to vacate the title? He could have done it before his fights against the easy opponents he faced at super featherweight.

Why did he wait until right when Broner was about to fight him before vacating. Burns defended his WBO super featherweight title against the following fighters: Andreas Evensen, Joseph Laryea and Nicky Cook. Those some soft opponents if you ask me.

As for Broner, he’s going to be taking on WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO’s) on November 17th at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It’s pretty much a given that Broner is going to destroy DeMarco and snatch up his WBC lightweight strap. DeMarco doesn’t have the frame to deal with what Broner is going to be bringing into the ring on November 17th, and I see him snapping DeMarco like a weak twig. It’s going to be too easy for Broner.

From there, Broner will be looking to fight Burns in a unification match in 2013. But like Broner’s dad is saying, he sees Burns running from Broner and never actually taking the fight. I sure hope he’s wrong, because I’d like to see Broner be crowned next year as the top lightweight in the entire division and he’s only to beat Burns, Miguel Vazquez and the winner of Richard Abril vs. Sharif Bogere fight to become the undisputed lightweight champion.

Khan: Hunter wants me to become a boxer again
October 8th, 2012 | Post Comment

Virgil Hunter Khan Molina Khan vs Molina Carlos Molina amir khan By William Mackay: Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) says his trainer Virgil Hunter wants to turn him back into a boxer rather than someone that gets excited and starts slugging it out with his opponents like Khan has foolishly done in the past. Khan sees himself as having transformed into a brawler after becoming overconfident from finding success.

Khan faces unbeaten Carlos Molina (17-0, 7 KO’s) on December 15th in Khan’s first fight under the guidance of new trainer Hunter at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California.

Khan said to Sky Sports News “When you start winning fights so comfortably you can forget about the meaning of being a boxer. What Virgil wants me to do is go back to boxing again but be smart…sticking to a game plan because sometimes when I see red forget.”

Good luck with that. It sounds like perfectly good advice given to Khan by Hunter. However, I don’t know that Khan’s problems will be solved entirely by sticking to a game plan and fighting smart. That chin of Khan’s is going to remain a real problem for him whether he fights the way that Hunter wants him to or not. The guys that face Khan are going to be loading up with everything they have for head shots, hoping that they can knock him out the same way that Breidis Prescott and Danny Garcia did in the past. Even the feather-fisted Molina is probably going into this fight with Khan on December 15th thinking he’s got to plant a big shot right on Khan’s chin if he wants to win the fight.

Where Hunter may have difficulties in turning Khan’s career around is with his desire to slow down Khan’s movement and make him more of a pocket fighter like his top fighter WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward. If Hunter tries to do the same thing with Khan, it’s going to end in failure. Khan can’t be a pocket fighter because those types of guys get hit a lot unless they’re like Andre Ward and highly skilled defensively.

Khan is going to have to be able to do a lot of running in order to keep from getting hit. And he’ll probably have to continue to do a lot of holding and shoving of his opponents to keep from getting eaten up on the inside. Hunter isn’t going to be able to change Khan’s lack of an inside game overnight, if ever. A good inside fighter would be a nightmare for Khan because they would have so many opportunities to land big shots at close range on his fragile jaw.

Bradley’s trainer: Pacquiao is the golden goose; Marquez can’t win by decision
October 8th, 2012 | Post Comment

Pacquiao Marquez Pacquiao vs. Marquez manny pacquiao juan manuel marquez By Chris Williams: Joel Diaz, the trainer for WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley, sees Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6-1, 39 KO’s) in an almost impossible situation going into his December 8th fight against Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KO’s) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Diaz doesn’t think that the 39-year-old Marquez can beat the much more popular Pacquiao by a decision because he’s not the big money fighter that Pacquiao is. Ultimately, Diaz believes that Marquez absolutely will need a knockout in order to beat Pacquiao because he doesn’t see the judges giving Marquez a decision win in this fight.

Diaz told Examiner.com writer Chris Robinson “There’s no way Marquez will win that fight. It’s just another business fight for the promoters to make money. At the end of the day, Manny Pacquiao is the golden goose. He’s the one with the name. The only way he would lose is if he could get knocked out.”

The knee-jerk reaction to what Diaz is saying would be to think he’s dreaming and paranoid. However, there are the three fights that Marquez has had with Pacquiao where he appeared to win each one of them, and yet the judges gave Pacquiao two wins and a draw. There are a lot of boxing fans out there who believes that no matter what he does Marquez will never be given a decision over Pacquiao because of what Pacquiao represents to boxing with the big money he attracts for his fights.

While Marquez brings in decent money himself, he’s not the money man like Pacquiao, he’s not the golden goose. So these fans believe that Marquez is pretty much in a no-win situation in his fights with Pacquiao. I don’t know what to believe. I think Marquez has won the three fights with Pacquiao, but for some reason the judges working those fights just weren’t impressed enough with what Marquez did to give him the win. No one will ever know for sure why the judges decided to give Pacquiao the wins when massive amounts of boxing fans saw Pacquiao losing each fight with Marquez.

Same the other way around.
I don't think Martinez can hurt Canelo.
Maybe or maybe not but Canelo is a lot smaller than Chavez Jr. so he may not be able to absorb those punches as much as Chavez Jr. did. Canelo does have a chin though so either way he would be tough to ko. Got Em!!

I don't think Canelo has as good of a chin as Chavez. I've seen Canelo rocked and hurt a couple times. I do think because of styles and since Canelo is more of a boxer it would be more competitive. martinez is getting up there in age too he may have already peaked physically
Werent u the one who just said age isnt a factor with Martinez due to him starting late? I mean I said that also and I still think he is in his prime. What other fighter can move and throw punches at the pace he does and not get tired at any age not just 37? He is in top physical shape and doesnt have the boxing mileage of a normal 37 year old who has been boxing since say 10 years old. I think he could be in his prime until he hits 40 while others fighters peak at say 35 at times. Got Em!!

but the other side of this is that Canelo doesn't need the chin that Chavez needed. Chavez style is to stand in front of you and keep coming and let you hit him and he hit you. That is not Canelo. Not to say Martinez is a light puncher, but I just believe Canelo would make Martinez miss waaaayyyyy more than Chavez. Either way, I'd think it would be a decent fight, but Canelo has show to have a decent chin too. I just think in the end he would out box Matinez

yeah but by the time he fights again he'll be 38 and he did take some punishment against chavez. He injured his leg, his hands and had staples in his head. That's extra mileage that adds up fast.

Now if we look at Bernard Hopkins for example, by the time he was 38 years old he was already passed his physical prime, however he had such solid fundamentals & defense his age didn't become a factor until his 40's, plus he never took a beating in his life. Martinez dances around so much, uses a lot of energy...it's going to be difficult to keep that style of fighting going much longer. Again that isn't to say he doesn't have a couple more great fights on this level, or that he'll be beat relatively soon. But his time is coming quick.

Basically what I'm saying is I think Martinez is probably past his physical prime and he will slow down. Would that be against Canelo, who knows.

Plus I don't think Martinez vs Canelo is going to happen anytime soon. I think the wheels are already in motion for a Canelo vs Cotto clash, assuming Cotto beats Trout.

So rumors are that George Foreman is coming into work tomorrow.
I work for a meat distributor and I think they want to pitch him on us doing his line. People swears it's George Foreman, but I don't see why he would personally come in here. It will more than likely be his reps for the grill.

I've got 2 pairs of gloves in the trunk ready to be signed though, if it really is him that shows up.

Sergio got in to boxing at 20. Sergio vs Manny at 154. Manny step up???? Manny Pacquiao in boxing history= cherry picker/ coward + catchweight phony
There fixed it for u. Got Em!!

Opinion respected. If it happens should be a great fight. Just dont know if Canelo can outbox the hard working Martinez. Got Em!!

Yea I dont think Canelo/Martinez will happen next either but we can still analyze it. Yea u are right we never know when father time will creep up on u. Some get it at 32 let alone 40. I think or atleast hope Martinez has atleast a couple more years of prime in him. Would be great for boxing. Cotto is gonna teach Trout a lesson on how to shut up lol. Got Em!!

Chavez Jr. receives temporary suspension by NSAC
October 9th, 2012 | Post Comment

Chavez Jr. vs. Martinez Chavez Jr Martinez julio cesar chavez jr By Dan Ambrose: Earlier today on Tuesday the Nevada State Athletic Commission gave former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. a temporary suspension for his positive marijuana test from last month after his fight with Sergio Martinez on September 15th. This was a mere formality, however, as it’s the norm for fighters who test positive according to AP.

The Nevada Commission will be meeting within three months to decides the length of Chavez Jr’s suspension as well as how much he’ll be fined.

Chavez Jr. could possibly lose a huge chunk of his $3 million purse for the Martinez fight, although it’s not likely given the non-danger of the drug that he tested positive for. His suspension could be as long as a year, but that too likely won’t be that severe.

It’s thought by some that Chavez Jr. could get away with a small fine a short suspension of four months or less. That’s almost nothing given that fighters typically take four months off between fights. If he receives a suspension that long, Chavez Jr. likely won’t even miss one fight. However, he’s interested in fighting an immediate rematch against Sergio Martinez, who suffered a knee injury, a broken left hand and a cut over his left eye.

Those injuries will take a considerable amount of time for them to heal, and it might make it necessary for Chavez Jr. to sit out waiting for Martinez to heal up before he can get another crack at him to try and regain his lost World Boxing Council 160 pound title.

Chavez Jr. can always fight a stay busy fight in the meantime while he waits for Martinez, but that might be a risky thing for Chavez Jr. to do given the danger of him suffering a cut that could throw off a rematch with Martinez even further.

MY CAREER IS MAKE OR BREAK NOW SAYS AMIR KHAN
Amir Khan is reaching a crossroads with his career

Amir Khan is reaching a crossroads with his career

Wednesday October 10,2012
By John Dillon

Comment Speech Bubble Have your say(0)

AMIR KHAN says that boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has backed his decision to quit their joint trainer Freddie Roach and admitted that his next fight will make or break his erratic career.

An undercurrent of acrimony is surfacing after it was first claimed that the break-up was amicable, with Khan last night describing American Roach as “bitter”.

Virgil Hunter – the fifth cornerman of Khan’s time as a professional – will guide him for his next comeback date against Carlos Molina on December 15 following the shock defeat by Danny Garcia last July, which cost the Bolton fighter his WBA and WBC light-welterweight titles.

It was the third setback for 25-year-old Khan and his second inside eight months following his controversial points loss against Lamont Peterson in December last year, which forced him to admit he will be “on the line” when he meets little-known Molina in Los Angeles.

The stunning fourth-round knockout by Garcia prompted Khan to abandon Roach’s famed Wild Card gym in Hollywood – where he worked together with Filipino Pacquiao – and hebelieves Oakland-based Hunter will make him a better defensive boxer.

He was cool with my decision. He was very supportive and I have a lot of respect for him
î

Amir Khan

“Manny said that if you feel you need to go with another trainer, then you have to do what you think is right,” said Khan.

“He was cool with my decision. He was very supportive and I have a lot of respect for him.

“I don’t want to lose this one. I don’t want to be in the position where, if I lose, I am thinking, ‘Where do I go from here?’

“I need to win this fight. It’s make or break. That’s why I have changed everything. This is on the line, 100 per cent. I have to make sure I don’t make any mistakes.”

Following the split, Roach was reported as saying that Khan should “keep away from punchers”, in an apparent reference to the belief that the British Olympic silver medallist has a glass chin.
