Dude I saw the fight when it happened. I have been following Bro Bro for a while so I dont need the video dog. Again fighters progress fight after fight especially great fighters. Also its ok for u to think otherwise but again dont get mad at some of us who feel he is already great and that he would beat Manny. Until and if they fight its all opinions anyway. No one is right or wrong until it goes down. Got Em!!
lol nobody is mad homie I'm just sayin it's a little early to say he can beat elite fighters 2 weight classes above him.

What I don't understand.........If Broner is the next Mayweather (so most of you say) and would whooop Pac (so most of you say).....why fight Pac???

Fight Mayweather...........he is the best pound for pound (so most of you say)...

Broner would whooop Mayweather. Fights his style, quicker, stronger, and easier.....

see how this works fellas????

I am just saying......I like Broner as much or more than most of you, but I am not about to sit here and say he is going to "hurt, whoop, knockout, etc" a fighter like Manny. Nor would I say he would do the same to mayweather.........

Broner needs to beat people at his next weight first.

I'd like to see Broner vs. Berto

Manny Pacquiao’s destruction job on Miguel Cotto can’t be blamed on weight
August 8th, 2012

By Mark Havey: A rematch is presently being talked about between Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, KO’s 38) and Miguel Cotto (37-3, KO’s 30). I don’t see much point as Pacquiao destroyed Cotto in 2009. If Cotto wasn’t in his prime then, he certainly isn’t now. In his last the popular Puerto Rican lost to Floyd Mayweather via points.

His one claim to deserving this shot is that he mildly challenged Mayweather at times. But considering Floyd is a counter fighter, I anticipated that. But i keep hearing fan’s saying that Cotto only lost to Pacquiao because he was weight drained.

It will be at a catch weight and I don’t blame Pacquiao for refusing to go up. The Filipino legend is a 8weight world champion. he can only go up in weight comfortably so many times. There are alot of fans who gain information from ill informed fans.

For instance, people say Cotto was drained against Pacquiao. How drained could he have been? It’s not uncommon for people to jump up or down 2 weights. But Cotto didn’t jump down even 1 weight. Most people will say “yes he did, he is a light middleweight”. Yes he is. but he wasn’t at the time. he was a welterweight. The catch weight was set at 145 lbs. The welterweight limit is 147.

So after three months training, how weight drained could Cotto have been after losing an extra 2 lbs? If he can’t do that without being drained he has serious metabolism problems. Of course he wasn’t drained. He wasn’t going to admit that he was destroyed. Cotto done what most people do after losing at catch weight. Let’s remember that he wasn’t forced to sign a contract. But people who can’t remember certain information should look it up before listening to another fan. That fan may not know or may have a motive for saying what they are saying.

If this fight is to be made the catch weight will be 150lbs. That’s fair considering Cotto is actually a light middleweight now. But I still think Pacquiao should face Timothy Bradley next. The has Pacman’s belt, and even though know one considers that defeat as valid, it’s still a defeat on paper.

Boxing Ref Steve “SS” Smoger Works Bigger’s Better for Euro Sports in Hopes to Bring to USA!
By Ken Hissner, Doghouse Boxing (Aug 9, 2012) Doghouse Boxing
-
Steve “SS” Smoger
By Ken Hissner, Doghouse Boxing. - World’s traveling boxing referee Steve “SS” Smoger spends more time working out of the USA than in. He completed working on every continent when he worked for the IBO in May at the Melbourne Pavilion, in Victoria, Australia. He is the most traveled referee in the world and should have been in the IBHOF years ago. He has worked 12 cards this year including in Bermuda, Cyprus, United Arab Emirates, Lithuania, Australia, Ukraine and France. The other 6 cards were in the USA with 2 in PA and 1 each in MO, CT and NJ. He has worked in each month this year and added 3 more world title bouts he’s worked.

Comparing this to 2011 Smoger worked 36 cards. He was in 9 countries including Australia, Portugal, Lithuania, Argentina, Ukraine, Russia, Uruguay, UAE and Germany. He also worked 27 cards in USA including NJ (6), OK (2), NY (4), CT (3), PA (3), MN (1), DE (4) and MO (3). He did 5 world title bouts.

“I am on the beach when I am not in the ring. It was late August and my cell phone rings”, said Smoger. “Etienne Smoge? That is French for Steve Smoger”. “If that is Stevie Smoger it’s me,” said Smoger. “This is JC Courreges from Paris (now living in Seattle)”. “Have you heard of Euro Sport?” says JC. “Yes sir it’s the biggest sports network in Europe,” said Smoger.

“Courreges managed the Tiozzi brothers from France, Fabrice (48-2, WBA/WBC #175 and WBA Cruiser champ) and Christophe (33-2, WBA Super Middle champ). He also managed Henry Akinwande (WBO heavy champ),” said Smoger.

“Bigger’s Better has joined forces with us to find heavyweight prospects. You know the Klitschko’s are not getting any younger. It’s our purpose to find successors to the Klitschko’s in this region of the world. We had a successful trip to NY and met with the higher hierarchy of MSG. The rules of the US insist a fighter cannot fight more than one fight in an evening. We have 3 fights at 3 rounds making it a 9 round evening. That is why we are concentrating on Europe and we have met with success. Your name was given to us by Egis Klemes from Lithuania in Kazakhstan who manages (DeMarcus) “Chop Chop” Corley (former WBO light welter champ) who defeated several boxers in Kazakhstan. We also got a recommendation from legendary matchmaker Don Elbaum. They have a contract with Euro Sport to put on at least 9 tournaments per year,” said Courreges.

“They were pleased with my work in Vilinius, Lithuania (May 25) and Limassol, Cyprus (July 6) and invited me back in September to Lisbon, Portugal. It’s fine to see the blend from the old USSR and what democracy has brought today. I think I’m the first American to officiate in Lithuania”, said Smoger.

On August 24th in Mazagan Beach Resort El Jadida, Morocco there will be another 8 man tournament called Bigger’s Better 14. The following are the scheduled fighters: Adil Atmari of Morocco; Adjit Kabayel of Turkey/Germany; Yassin Bouanan of Belgium; Mateusz Malujda of Poland; Lucian Bot of Romania; Marcel Gotshalk of Germany; Fabrice Aurieng of France and Milan Dasic of Serbia. You can go to www.biggersbetterboxing.com to check out the background and experience of each fighter.

Courreges spent 1984-1992 in FR and the USA since then becoming an American citizen. This idea of 3 round tournaments with 8 boxers performing in one night is not allowed in the USA at this time. The UK’s Prizefighters Tournament is similar to this type of boxing event. New York’s heavyweight Tor Hammer in June went to the UK and won their tournament.

“The cultural experience to see a young country in its 20th year of independence was great. As we had our fairwell dinner after the show JC and his partners asked if I would come back. April in Paris was beautiful. My fellow referee Klaus Hagemann of Hamburg, Germany, does a lot of UFC. We judge when we are not the referee. In May we were back in Lithuania. I just got back from Cyprus (July 6th). All the shows have a combination of MMA and other entertainment and boxing. Show begins at 8pm with MMA and from 9-11pm is boxing,” said Smoger.

“By the Grace of God I am in my 30th year and if I am called upon for a seminar or as a presenter I go. I had covered every continent but Australia until last year. I got a call from Ed Levine the head of the IBO asking if I was available a week after Thanksgiving in November (30th) in Perth, Australia. It was summer there and I’m swimming in the Indian Ocean. I only had to be aware of the sharks. (But that is also to be aware of in boxing I told Smoger) In between I fly out Thanksgiving eve and go to DuBai. I got home before my lovely engagement December 1st and did the Cotto-Margarito fight in the Garden on the 3rd. I catch the Red Eye back to DuBai. Then I did Ward-Froch (Dec 17th) in Atlantic City. In February (10th) I did the Devon Alexander and Marcos Maidana fight on HBO,” said Smoger.

Smoger could be a key to these types of tournaments coming here along with Courreges. In the past the Golden Gloves tournament would have several fights in one day. Then a boxer in PA died from his ring injuries and they frowned upon it from there on.

They have had 13 events but no Americans yet. They created these tournaments 3 years ago. They have 8 winners and met in Croatia last year. Because 2 Latvian’s have won so far, Regia, Latvia may be in for the December 21st final. The winner gets 25k and an opportunity to go to Don Turner’s camp in NC, for training and a possible 2 fights. I’ve notice the improvement from the UFC, MMA and Thai boxers. The fans can vote in one loser on a future show. There are no draws but will go an extra round,” said Smoger.

You can go on line and see former bouts in Bigger’s Better tournaments and see how competitive the fighters are. In time some bigger names with bigger rewards will probably come about. Bringing in fighters with all different backgrounds of boxing both amateur/professional, kick boxing/Thai Boxing and MMA are their backgrounds. Bringing in Smoger has brought quality officiating and direction for these tournaments. Next could be American participants in order to bring this to the attention of the American fans. Remember, August 24th in Morocco live on Eurosport.

Austin Trout vs. Roberto Garcia possible for Alexander-Bailey undercard on September 8th
August 8th, 2012

By Allan Fox: A fight between unbeaten WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) and 32-year-old #4 World Boxing Association ranked Roberto Garcia (31-3, 21 KO’s) is possible for the September 8th undercard of the fight between IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey and challenger Devon Alexander.

Trout, 26, had been hoping to get a fight against James Kirkland, according to RingTV. However, Kirkland’s surgically repaired right shoulder still hasn’t healed sufficiently for him to take the fight with Trout. IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius “K-9″ Bundrage was asked but he also had no interested in taking on Trout. That leaves Garcia as the fighter that may get the title shot against Trout.

Garcia has won his last three bouts after suffering a lopsided 10 round unanimous decision loss to Antonio Margarito in 2010. Margarito chose to box the hard hitting Garcia and did a surprisingly good job of neutralizing Garcia’s power. Since then, Garcia has beaten Jose Flores, Calvin Odom and Antwone Smith by decision victories.

Trout is coming off of an impressive – but boring – 12 round unanimous decision win over Delvin Rodriguez last June. Trout did a great job of out-boxing a good fighter in Rodriguez. However, the fight was like watching paint dry, as Trout focused on boxing and did little punching in the hard to watch fight. Before that, Trout has two previous title defenses against David Lopez and Frank LoPorto. The Loporto fight was a terrible mismatch in a fight that had no business being put together in the first place, because Loporto wasn’t in Trout’s league in terms of talent.

Thats fine and I can respect that but I think otherwise. If Manny gave him the fight and it doesnt matter if it would be at 140 or 147 I think Broner would upset him. Got Em!!

I hear all of that but Mayweather wouldnt fight him because his name isnt big enough yet. Remember Mayweather is the PPV king and the best fighter in the world so it would be harder to get a fight with Floyd than it would be with Manny. The Manny fight would be hard also but I think its more possible than the Mayweather fight. I think he would give Floyd a good fight also. Got Em!!

Manny ain't fightin' no more undefeated black fighters because he already got beat by one.

Broner and Mayweather would be all bad. They'd rather face Marquez or Cotto (an opponent that Manny could beat because he has already beaten them before). It's going to be a tough sale for Manny fighting fighters that he already has a victory over. Fight Cotto at the full limit of 154 or don't fight him all all. Cut the crap! No more of this catchweight BS!

he just beat an undefeated black fighter in bradley. u and bigface saying bradley won doesn't change the fact the majority of the world saw it as one of the worst robberies in recent times for a high profile fight.

cotto is a waste of time even at 154, jmm we've seen that fight three times already I think bradley is the only option. no one else really at WW worth a damn (Ortiz keeps losing, berto will be suspended for peds, not sure who else).

[Don't forget Oscar vs. Stevie Forbes, Oscar vs. Gatti....] Gatti fought Oscar at 147lb. The Forbes 150lb catch weight fight was for him to get ready for Manny at 147lb a weight he didn’t fight at in 12 yrs. FYI, Forbes broke Oscar orbital bone that fight too.

[As I said Pac weighed 142 pounds against Oscar, and then of course he immediately went back down to 140. He never established himself as a welterweight until he beat Cotto.] You're wrong again Pac weighted in at 147 on fight night against Oscar and Hoya was 146lb. Manny fought Hatton at 140lb then back to 147lb to fight Cotto.

[Ironic since Cotto made Margarito fight him at a catch weight in the rematch (at 153 but Cotto originally wanted 150). So he'll fight Margarito at 150, but not Pacquiao....] Didn’t like the catch weight then and still don’t. Margarito is a bum too.
Cotto - one pound, no big deal (you yourself give him credit now (well you were forced to since cotto banged up Floyd a bit, before you discredited the win by calling Cotto a shot fighter.)
lol. So Cotto didn’t burst Manny’s ear drum and mess up his face. All he gave Mayweather was a bloody nose. Manny get’s the fight because he won by TKO against Cotto. Mayweather give Cotto at boxing lesson at without weight draining him.

[That's one way of looking at it. The other way of looking at it is Pac had shut out victories over Clottey & Mosley and nearly a shutout victory over Bradley. Marquez of course will fight Pac fantastically at any weight.] He lost to Bradley and I scored the fight a draw, but he didn’t shutout shit losing all the champion rounds on all the judges’ score cards.. He was not impressive at all against Clottey or Mosley. And Marquez beat him up at 39yrs old.

[No one said he moved up from 135 to fight Cotto. I said he moved up from 135 to fight Oscar and weighed 142 against Oscar. Point was he really wasn't a welterweight yet (especially since he was at 140 after he beat oscar).]

Truth be told Manny fight night weight has been 143 since the 2nd Morales fight. He had no problem fighting Oscar at 147lb, so why a year later you can’t fight the 147lb champion Cotto at 147lb?? Because you wanted a advantage coming into the fight make the bigger guy drain himself to fight me.

The record books show that Manny lost the fight to Bradley, so the the world can cry me a river, and I scored the fight a draw.

We don't know what is going to happen with Berto I think he has a good case to get off. Mike Jones messed up a big payday by losing. Devon has Bailey. Bradley won't get any PPV buys, Marquez is going to be a hard sell. Cotto is the only guy out there that will get Manny a million PPV buys, but it has to be at a good weight 152-154lb. I would like the fight at 154lb..

I'm not the one going ape shit over a guy who has fought nothing but B-Level fighters.

Again, I actually like Broner, but if you think for a second he'd get in the ring and "destroy" an elite fighter three divisions above him, you're smoking some good rocks.

J @jabking , those are all just victim statements. You have no control over your opponents state, all you can do is prepare and expect for your opponent to be at his best, and fight who's in front of you on fight night. It's easy to say all of these things in hindsight.
If you're the guy always asking fo a catchweight in all your big fights, you do in fact have control over your opponents state.

Broner won a close fight against Ponce. I love when people say he lost the fight then I ask them to show me your scorecard by rounds and then the subject is changed. It's just like when people say Mayweather lost to Castillo but they never show how they scored the fight for him, because Castillo lose the first 6 rounds clear as hell. it's just funny.. Do you mine showing me your round by round score of the Broner vs Ponce fight??

FYI, that hard close Ponce fight made Broner into a better fighter, dude been beasting since. Gamboa didn't look all that great against Ponce himself and that fight was stop because of a cut. Ponce is a tricky leftie that's been boxing more nowadays.

Ken Norton Suffers A Stroke
Published August 9, 2012 | By eastside | 1 Comment

By Vitali Shaposhnikov: A fighter whose name all boxing fans should know and have no trouble praising, has suffered a stroke, but thus far is in stable condition. (http://www.secondsout.com/news/main-news/former-champ-ken-norton-suffers-stroke).

Ken Norton has put on quite a performance against Muhammad Ali every time they met in the ring, and faced top notch competition throughout his entire career. Aside from Ali, he fought George Foreman, Larry Holmes and Earnie Shavers, and his heart was never in question.

While there isn’t much detailed information yet, I am hoping that it was a minor stroke without any lasting physical limitations or life threatening compilations. I am sure we will soon hear more on his condition, and meanwhile lets all hope and pray for his safety and well-being.

Pac-Man Advisor Gacal: “I Think It’s Bradley” – Are We Set For Pacquiao-Bradley II In November?
Published August 9, 2012 | By eastside | 25 Comments

By James Slater: Superstar Manny Pacquiao has not yet made an official announcement regarding who he will fight next, on November 10th in Las Vegas. Meeting with promoter Bob Arum, the 33-year-old pound-for-pounder has a list of three fighters to choose from: Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley.

According to Pac-Man’s legal advisor, Franklin Gacal, Manny has pretty much made up his mind: it will be a revenge-motivated return fight with Bradley next.

“I think it’s Bradley,” Gacal said to Philstar.com when speaking on the subject of who he thinks Pacquiao will fight next. “There’s a score to settle.”

There is indeed. Two months ago today, in Las Vegas, the man known as “Desert Storm” shocked the boxing world and Pacquiao by winning one of the most controversial decisions in all of boxing. Almost to a man, the experts, the writers and the paying fans had Pacquiao winning on June 9th, yet Bradley’s hand was raised. Reports say the majority of fans are somewhat cool on the idea of seeing a part-two of the June 12-rounder, yet it’s easy to see why Pacquiao and Bradley would love the rematch. Pacquiao obviously wants to put right the wrong that went against him, while Bradley wants to prove he can do even better than he did in June (remember, Bradley badly hurt both ankles in the early going of his career biggest win).

Of course, a fourth Pacquiao-Marquez fight would appeal to millions, but we pretty much know already what would happen if these two masters met again: Pacquiao, unless KO’d, would win on points. And as for a Pacquiao-Cotto II, this one would perhaps be interesting, only because the return would possibly take place at 150-pounds and because Pac-Man might be past his best, but a Bradley return looks more interesting to me.

Pacquiao would have to be made the favourite to win the rematch, but I have a strange feeling that Bradley will give the Filipino southpaw another tough night. Could Bradley shock the world for a second time and won another close, debatable decision? Can lightening strike twice? There is just something about Bradley: he always finds a way to win. Pacquaio said shortly after the June defeat that he would go for the KO in a rematch. If Gacal is correct, Pac-Man will get his chance in three months time.
