Now I see why Mayweather doesn't want to give Pacquiao a 50/50 split.
There was a time when Manny did deserve the 50/50 split.
That was about 2+ years ago.

The argument is that Floyd will make the most with Manny, even with a 50/50 split.

Whether Manny deserves it shouldn't really be Floyd's concern, given that he always looks at the bottom dollar.

Andre Berto Fails VADA Test, Positive For Nandrolone

By Gabriel Montoya

BoxingScene.com has been advised that Andre Berto has failed one of his random drug tests that were issued by VADA [Voluntary Anti Drug Association]. Berto's A and B samples were confirmed to have had traces of nandrolone. Historically, 80% of anabolic steroid positives from 1998-2003 were for nandrolone as a result of a contaminated supplement not injection.

Berto is preparing for a welterweight rematch with Victor Ortiz on June 23rd at Staples Center in Los Angeles California. Both fighters had agreed to take part in a random drug testing protocol. There is no word on the status of Berto being able to obtain a license under the California State Athletic Commission.

Berto failed random testing. Berto vs Ortiz 2 might be off. Again Mayweather was just using random testing to duck out of fights. lol.. Ortiz has fought two PED users n Peterson and Berto.

Some of us just keep on proving people wrong. I wonder why Manny is so scared to be randomly tested??
Yeah, we're not saying he's doping, but why would he want that cut off date? It's funny now that all these dudes are getting busted.... Mayweather is looking like a genius! And why turn the fight down over a dope test anyway (when the 50/50 split offer was on the table)? Not saying he's doping but some things make you wonder...

Pacquiao always has a b.s. excuse for losing or not looking good in fights. He claims that when he lost to Morales, he was totally drained going into the fight because he'd had some blood testing before the fight. It's not like he was donating enough plasma to keep a whole family alive, it was blood TESTING.

Supposedly after the first Marquez fight, he said he didn't wear the right socks, and that's why he didn't fight that well.

Then against Marquez the 2nd and 3rd time, he had a leg cramp and couldn't beat Marquez convincingly etc...

So it looks like Marquez will be fighting Gesta at the Cowboys stadium, not Eric Morales, not Zab Judah. Gesta.

Ok I'm going to be honest here, JMM is a legend and all but he gets away with fighting weak ass fights all the time. He's top 5 pound 4 pound in the sport. Imagine if Mayweather or Pacquiao fought Likar Ramos, Gesta or that Ukrainian dude I already forgot his name.

JMM only fights on to fight Pacquiao, that's it. Takes no real risks outside of Pacquiao and to me, that's what truly separates guys like Floyd, Pac, Hopkins and others to JMM.

And it's not like Judah or Morales were really tough fights either, he'd be a big favorite in either fight and instead he goes with the pretty much unknown and green Gesta, a waaaaay easier fight. This is a PPV fight, at Cowboys stadium.....and you pick Gesta? Fuck that shit, he shouldn't get a pass just because he fights excellent against Pacquiao, he isn't above criticism.

damn and i literally was about to buy some $125 floor tickets to this fight too! we should all praise mayweather for cleaning up the sport no secret why manny dont want to take the test since test = fail. on a side note props to my boy ortiz who fought both cheats (berto & perterson) and beat them although the fight with perterson was a draw which is bullshit.

what does berto failing a test have to do with pacqauiao again?

But I'm going to wait to hear more facts about this. Like the article mentions testing positive for nandrolone is often a result of a contaminated supplement, not injections.

Berto works with Conte who helped start VADA. He has encouraged all of his fighters to register and be tested by VADA. So it wouldn't make any sense for Berto to be doping on one of the easiest and long lasting drugs (stays in your system for 6 months or more) while knowing your being tested by VADA.

Peterson was different.. imo it's clear he was trying to beat the system by having his testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio under the legal limit of 4:1 (his was 3.77) and didn't think they could catch him.

Berto, I dunno, seems to me maybe it really could have been just supplements. But I suppose we should never underestimate the stupidity of people.

damn, ortiz-berto off (card is still on though)

Berto tests positive, Ortiz fight now off

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Former welterweight champion Andre Berto has tested positive for a banned substance, and the promoter of his rematch with Victor Ortiz next month says the fight is off.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer says Berto tested positive last weekend, and a secondary test also came back positive Friday.

Berto and Ortiz are scheduled to fight June 23 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Ortiz handed Berto his first career defeat in a thriller in April 2011.

Schaefer says the card is still on, and Golden Boy will announce a replacement opponent for Ortiz in the next few days.

The fighters agreed to testing for the rematch through the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, a Las Vegas-based organization that tests blood and urine for steroid use and other banned substances.

.. as for Joe Louis, the most consecutive title defenses in one weight class for any boxer ever. Hasn't been done even in the weakest of eras. Nothing to scoff at all.
Louis was amazing, I think the second best HW ever, but I just think pound 4 pound top ten...maybe he's not quite in that list. IMO, throughout history, it's very, very rare when a HW fighter is as good as the lower weight class guys. Ali is one of them.

I mean you have sugar ray robinson, armstrong, sam langford, pep, sugar ray leonard, duran, archie moore, greb, burley, ezzard charles, joe gans and many others. I dunno, maybe I just don't hold heavyweights the same way I do to everyone else. Again I'm no historian, but I've watched what I can of many old school fighters and some of these guys were just phenomenal and then you look at their records, who they fought, who were scared of fighting them, etc. I just personally wouldn't put any heavyweight above any of these guys besides Ali and even then I think he's in the bottom half of the top 10.

It's all subjective anyway, but always fun to talk about.

And one last thing...yes Louis has the record title defenses but keep in mind both Calzaghe & Ottke had 21 title defenses and obviously their reigns were not impressive in the least.

Remember the bum of the month? Louis fought some pretty shitty opponents, 13 in fact in 29 months.

And then getting floored buy guys like Tony two ton Golento that's kinda embarrassing lol

Berto just killed his career. Gonna be a long, long road back.

How ironic that he and Peterson both pushed for VADA testing and both failed tests for steroids????? WTF????????????????

Would've been sick if Khan/Ortiz could've been made on short notice but Khan was preparing for a 140lb fight, no way that happens on short notice.

VADA pretty much just made itself mandatory in boxing this month.

As for Marquez, he had a rough stretch there for awhile as far as opposition. I don't think he gets a pass, but he's definitely fought his share of tough fights if you consider the time he fought them. I would've loved to see Marquez/Maidana but the TR/GB feud likely wouldn't let that happen.
