Bob Arum told me it’s Business”- Juan Manuel Marquez

By JM Siasat: In a not so popular interview, Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez (53-6-1, 39KO’s) talks his third meeting with Manny Pacquiao and vents out his frustrations on Bob Arum.

“November 12th we worked with intelligence, worked with speed, counterpunching and side steps. All experience I have in this sport was complicated to him and the whole fight was like he didn’t know what to do.

So possibly wanting to make the fight with Mayweather and the bets influenced everything even Bob Arum realized.
When I got up in the press conference Bob Arum told me its business. What does that make you realize? (Referring to the reporter) I didn’t slap him because he is very old. The truth is I'm a respectful person and educated. I was very pissed when he told me it’s just business.

I was like oh yeah? Well let’s see now how your business goes, but you get mad when he tells you its just business. It’s like yeah you take care of your business but who takes cares of my hard work? My 18 years of career and the illusion of supposedly beating the best pound for pound fighter?”

Because of things like these that make you want to retire of the sport I love so much but it’s disgusting. To them business is business, but you get fucked and it’s not fair.” Said the frustrated Juan Manuel Marquez as he speaks of his third fight against Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38KO’s) in November 12, 2011 where Pacquiao won by a controversial Majority Decision.

Does Juan Manuel Marquez need a fourth fight? In this writer’s opinion, I say not. Marquez proved in the third fight that he is capable of clearly beating Pacquiao. A fourth fight would most probably end in yet another heartbreak decision for Juan Manuel Marquez since “its business”.

Marquez has never appeared to be a dishonest, lying type of guy like some of the people in the boxing community so holding on to his words would be more than reasonable.

There’s nothing left to prove, Marquez should definitely consider retirement if not a farewell fight with someone else. Fans can’t blame Dinamita for feeling this way.

Bad news for Khan: The IBF won’t be ordering a Khan-Peterson rematch

By Allen Fox: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan got some bad news today from the International Boxing Federation, who had decided not to order a rematch between Khan and newly crowned Lamont Peterson.

Khan and his management appealed his 12 round decision loss to the IBF, WBA and the Washington State Athletic Commission to try and get the results overturned or at the minimum to force Peterson to give Khan an immediate rematch. According to Dan Rafael, the IBF will not be ordering Peterson to fight Khan again.

There’s still no word about whether Khan will have any luck getting the decision overturned, but you have to imagine that the chances aren’t good because there isn’t anything controversial about the bout. Khan had 2 points taken away for pushing off and he was clearly pushing off all throughout the fight, even after having been penalized for the second time in the fight.

The World Boxing Association still hasn’t given their views on the fight, so Khan still has a chance that they’ll order Peterson to fight Khan immediately and/or overturn the results and give the win to Khan.

In an interview at eastsideboxing.com, Peterson said he’s interested in fighting Khan again, so it may not require the IBF or WBA to force Peterson because he’ll likely gladly take the fight. Khan and his management obviously are just making sure they get the fight as soon as possible. However, if you look at it from Peterson’s perspective, why would he want to fight anyone other than Khan next? After all, Khan is the most popular fighter in the division and it seems kind of senseless for Peterson to take on a less popular fighter for less money.

Richard Schafer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions and the promoter for Khan, is looking at May 19th for the date of the Khan-Peterson rematch. Unlike last time, Peterson is in a good position to get better terms in the negotiations this time around with Khan. He’ll likely get at least a 50-50 deal with Khan.

Dan Rafael

Neither has been officially released but my sources tell me Pacquiao-Marquez could touch 1.3 million and Cotto-Margarito is going to be around 550,000.

Good PPV #'s for Manny and Cotto. Can we get the Mosley vs Manny PPV numbers now?

Kelly Pavlik and long-time trainer Jack Loew have reportedly split. Pavlik to train with Robert Garcia

Jack Loew should have seen it coming. He probably did.

Former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has apparently made the split with the only trainer he has ever had. What was a rumor in October is about to become reality, as Pavlik is reportedly moving to California to train under Robert Garcia.

Loew has not returned phone calls to The Plain Dealer, but was quoted in the Youngstown Vindicator last week saying that he “had no desire to work with Kelly Pavlik anymore.”

Citing a lack of control over the fighter away from the gym, Loew had told a Youngstown radio station the break was taking place.

“It’s a sad way it ended,” said Loew during the radio interview. “When you can’t control a fighter outside of the ring, it’s time to walk away. I have no control of Kelly outside of the ring anymore, and I refuse to take the heat for things I can’t control.”

After winning the 160-pound title in September 2007 against Jermain Taylor, Pavlik has seen his career sidetracked by defeats to Bernard Hopkins and Sergio Martinez. He was also hit by illness, injury and alcohol, undergoing rehabilitation for that a year ago.

However, rumors of erratic behavior have continued, and there has been speculation the fighter would leave his hometown under pressure from his handlers.

Lol so bute signed a two fight deal with froch, looks like he'll get two avoid ward for another year. Wasted no time - a day after the super six is over he signs to fight the loser not once but twice!!
Bwhahahhahahah! What a joke! He saw that clinic Ward put on Froch and was like " aint no way I am gonna fight that beast!" That is to funny. Im not sure who Ward can fight? There is no one out there who could beat him in that division. I think Ward will fight Dirrell next since I believe its a mandatory fight. That should be a good one but Ward will come out on top though. Got Em!!

Froch to fight Lucian Bute twice. Deal already made

Carl Froch's consolation for losing the Super Six final and with it his WBC super-middleweight title will be two hugely enriching fights next year against IBF belt-holder Lucian Bute.

The second of those two opportunities to re-establish himself quickly as a world champion will also enable Froch to fulfil his ambition of fighting in his beloved Nottingham Forest's football stadium.

With rising American superstar Andre Ward declining to meet Bute for the undisputed 12-stone crown, the way back for Froch opened up within hours of the second defeat of his career.

Bute, the Canadian-based Romanian, agreed to the two-fight proposal from Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn. The first fight is projected for Montreal in April, the return at Forest's City Ground in June or July. Froch said: 'That will be just fantastic. It's my dream.'

Hearn said: 'This must be the quickest and easiest deal we've done. We take the British end, they take the Canadian money and we split the rest 50-50, for both fights. Nice and simple.'

Bute was in the historic Boardwalk Hall to watch Ward's brilliant victory and his annoyance with some of Froch's earlier remarks helped clinch the deal.
The Nottingham Cobra, 34, had accused Bute of enjoying an easy ride while the rest of the world's top super-middleweights have spent two years battling each other to a standstill in the Super Six tournament.

Bute, 31, said: 'My next ambition is to close Carl's big mouth. He is arrogant and has too much to say. The truth of the Super Six is that I was very disappointed not to be invited. While Ward deserved this victory my preference is still to fight Froch and teach him a lesson.'
