Even then it's only separated by like a 100k. Floyd-Hatton = 920,000. Pac-Hatton = 850,000. Floyd-shane = 1.4 million. Pac-shane = 1.3 million. So the differences are real minor.
Well what about JMM? Both fights that Pacquiao had with JMM didn't outsell Floyd's one fight with JMM... correct me if I am wrong though...

There is only one man that can be at the top and that's Mayweather, followed closely by Pacquiao.

that was pre oscar though, which is my point. Floyd & pac weren't big "crossover" stars until they fought oscar.

I disagree... I believe Pacquiao turned into a big star after beating Barrera and Morales. He was a star before Oscar in my opinion.
He was a boxing star amongst boxing fans. What I'm talking about is being crossover stars.

A lot of people tune in to watch him lose.
He wasn't selling shit until he started to run his mouth.
Nice guy pretty boy was fighting on ESPN and HBO Latino.

Then he started to be a loud mouth and people started paying attention.

MAYWEATHER-ORTIZ SECOND HIGHEST GROSSING NON-HEAVYWEIGHT PPV EVER

PRESS RELEASE: Floyd Mayweather puts more meaning to his ring name "Money" every time he fights. With early pay-per-view numbers counted and confirmed, the pugilist's recent STARPOWER fight against Victor Ortiz generated buys from 1.25 million homes with a value of $78,440,000 dollars in pay-per-view revenue. These numbers make the event the second highest grossing non-heavyweight pay-per-view event of all time.

With another successful pay-per-view event under his belt, Mayweather continues his reign as the biggest and most lucrative attraction in the sport. He has now appeared in the three biggest non-heavyweight pay-per-view events in the sport's history, including Mayweather vs. Oscar de la Hoya ($136,853,700), Mayweather vs. Ortiz ($78,440,000 million) and Mayweather vs. Sugar Shane Mosley ($78,330,000 million).

"My motto is 'hard work and dedication' and I have shown this throughout my entire career, which has allowed me to go out and perform each time I step in the ring," said Mayweather. "I give the fans everything I have with the best competition and exciting fights. I must be doing something right as they keep buying my fights and I appreciate their tremendous support. It feels good to be able to generate such a great interest in the sport."

"Every time Floyd steps into the ring, he reminds us that he is the greatest fighter in the sport today and certainly its biggest star." said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO Mayweather Promotions. "The financial success of his fight with Victor Ortiz reinforces Floyd's position in the sport as iconic and he should be appreciated for bringing all of this attention and good fortune to the sport. His pay-per-view success is staggering and the history books will reflect this impact."

"STARPOWER showed again why they call him "MONEY" Mayweather," said Richard Schaefer, CEO Golden Boy Promotions. "When it comes to pay-per-view, Floyd is clearly in a league of his own. Not only does he now hold the record for the top three grossing non-heavyweight pay-per-view events, but he also holds the record for the single biggest pay-per-view event of all time. I am excited to continue to break records with Floyd and his Money Team, because records are made to be broken!"

This doesn't matter at all why people buy a PPV. It doesn't make the checks that Floyd gets look any different whether or not people tune in to watch him get KOd. The fact is that he is a draw, the reason people are tuning in to watch him fight doesn't matter because they're still tuning in..
they ain't tuning in because he is some exciting fighter. they are tuning in to see if his cocky ass loses or not. sure he's gettin' paid regardless but not from being a crowd pleaser like Pac is. people hate mayweather more then they love em imo.

Not disagreeing there just saying that it doesn't matter in the end. Some people need to be "villains" and some need to be "heroes" in boxing in order to get paid. I'd like nothing more than to see the absolute best fighters get paid for doing what they do regardless of popularity but that's just not how it is or likely how it's ever going to be. You gotta do what you gotta do, and Mayweather plays the role perfectly (sometimes maybe too perfect).

.. but in at the end of the day his check still looks nice and he draws a crowd of people to watch him do what he does. Why they're there is a completely different argument.

LOL.. At Mayweather playing around with top 10 ranked P4P fighters, they have a hard time hitting dude clear. Mayweather vs ODLH was not even a close fight Mayweather won 8 rounds to 4.

So Manny and Marquez are showing off there cars now on 24/7. LOL, but Mayweather don't make the boxing world go round. 24/7 is boring. They need to only show these guys training and sparring..

I know I am going to recieve alot of shit for this......BUT

Those sales had more to do with it being on Mexican Independence Day fighting a Mexican American fighter (who caught alot of hearts after his last fight)..........than it did with Mayweather being on the opponent.

Would have been double that....had Ortiz fought Pac.

But after his showing on the Mayweather fight, Ortiz blew any chance of breaking any record like that.

You're 100% right. What people need to realize is that Mayweather is smart enough to make the fight with a young Mexican American fighter coming off of a big win in an all action fight against an undefeated black fighter in Berto. Mayweather fed off the hype of Ortiz's big win and made a tune-up fight into a big boxing event. Cocky shit talking black boxer against a young humble Mexican American fighting of Mexican Independence Day = smart business move by Mayweather. Ortiz did blow his chance of becoming a boxing star by pulling that bitch shit. Mosley vs. Mayweather is the third highest grossing non-heavy fight and they are both black last I checked, so Mayweather has a big fan base no matter who he fights. Mayweather is playing chess in and out the ring and everyone else is playing checkers.

Me personally, I wouldn't pay $54.99 just to see a fighter lose... what happens if he wins (again)? You lose out on that $54.99... and just put some of it in Mayweather's pocket.
