By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao says he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr., but complains that Mayweather has to show he’s the one that wants to make the fight happen.

Mayweather in turn isn’t about to start negotiations for a fight with the Filipino star because he’s had zero luck in getting him to agree to staying in the United States to be available during the whole training camp for the random Olympic style blood tests for performance enhancing drugs that Mayweather wants.

Pacquiao said this to the LA Times: “I don’t need to be looking for or chasing a fight. I want the fight, but I cannot force him [Mayweather] to take it He has to show he wants to fight me.”

I think the feelings are mutual for Mayweather but in a different way. He can’t make Pacquiao agree to stay in the U.S to be available for the drug testing that he wants. If Pacquiao doesn’t want to stay in the U.S during the entire eight weeks of training camp for the random blood tests, then it’s pretty much going to be a nonstarter.

This is what’s holding Mayweather up. He wants the full random blood tests without any breaks leading up to the fight. Mayweather was ready to make the fight happen last year, but the best he could get from Pacquiao was for testing to be done up until three weeks before the fight.

At that point, Pacquiao wouldn’t be taking the tests. Naturally, that ended negotiations and there hasn’t been any way to reach an agreement since then. If Pacquiao agrees to stay in the U.S for the FULL random blood tests all the way up until the day before the fight, he’s got a Mayweather fight, but without that then Pacquiao is going to have to stick to fighting other guys.
thats bullshit though, asking him to be in the US for the full training camp. if the testing is so important, then why cant they just show up wherever pacquiao is at the time? sounds like that article is slanted in mayweathers favor anyway..

Agree to fucking random drug testing already. I'm sick of the 8 different excuses on why Manny can't be tested. Mayweather, Khan, Mosley, Ortiz, Martinez, Berto, and Bradley all have no problem submitting to random testing. But the so-called #1 P4P fighter is too good to be tested and has 8 different excuses on why he can't be tested. Fans hate Mayweather so bad that they don't care if Manny's on PED they just want him to beat Mayweather. If Manny agreed to random testing like his fans love to claim why are we still talking about random testing two years later???? It's just funny listening all the different excuses now..

Jermain Taylor back in action on December 30th – News

By Allen Fox: Now that former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (28-4-1, 17 KO’s) has gotten his boxing license back, he’s ready to get back in the ring for the first time in two years on December 30th in a fight that could be aired on Showtime.

The 33-year-old Taylor got his boxing license back by the Nevada Athletic Commission in September by a 5-0 vote. Taylor has passed all the medical tests to get his boxing license, and there was no abnormalities found. However, getting the boxing license back is really only the start for Taylor. He’s going to have to prove he can take some punishment without getting viciously knocked out like he’s been in three out of his last five fights in KO losses to Carl Froch, Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham.

Taylor likely will have no problems beating the initial 2nd or 3rd tier opposition he’s lined up against. He always did have great offensive skills. The problem for Taylor was his chin and his stamina. Taylor sees his knockout losses, as well as his stamina problems late in his fights, as partly the result of him coming into his training camps too heavy. Taylor reportedly has had to use training camps to pare off over 20+ pounds instead of the camp being used to fine tune his boxing skills. But we’ll have to see whether that theory will hold water once Taylor is put in with guys that can punch.

Taylor’s career hasn’t been the same since he was stopped in the 7th round by Pavlik in September 2009. He took a lot of hard shots in that fight and really didn’t look the same in his subsequent fights.

Jean Marc Mormeck To Work With Trainer Kevin Rooney In Lead Up To Klitschko

By James Slater: Today in Paris, France, heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko came face to face with his next challenger, Jean Marc Mormeck, who faces “Dr. Steel Hammer” in Germany on December 10th. The two smiled as they posed for photos (the huge size advantage held by Wladimir again apparent as they stood side by side) and the two did their best to promote the fight that, in truth, not too many fans are excited about.

Klitschko praised Mormeck for the way he managed to score a knockdown over David Haye when “The Marksman” met him back in 2007. “He knocked him down,” Wladimir said. “It’s something I couldn’t do.”

Mormeck again promised to test the Champion’s “glass chin,” insisting once again that Kitschko “does not like to get hit.” Well, who does? Klitschko fired back at the 39-year-old’s chin taunts with a vow to “find out what your chin is made of.”

The most interesting thing we learned today is the fact that the former cruiserweight champion will be trained for his big chance by Kevin Rooney. Rooney, of course, became globally famous and well respected as the trainer of Mike Tyson back in the mid-80s. It will be interesting to see if Rooney can help Mormeck any. Rooney knows how to train a guy and he will surely have a game-plan in mind for Mormeck; who faces a mighty task. Some fans argue that even Tyson himself would have had real problems with the skills and sheer size of Wladimir, and it’s likely that Mormeck will find out quickly what he’s up against on Dec. 10th - even with “Iron” Mike’s former trainer by his side.

Wladimir actually compared Mormeck’s style with that of the one-time “Baddest Man On The Planet.”

“I would compare him with Mike Tyson,” Wladimir said of the Frenchman. “He is never going backwards, like David Haye.

Wladimir then borrowed a line from former king Tyson:

“Everyone has a plan, until they get hit,” he stated.

Rooney may have a master plan up his sleeve that we do not know about, but has his fighter got the tools that are necessary for him to be able to put into practice effective tactics? Mormeck might come out in a fast, aggressive Mike Tyson-like manner, but if he does he will only make Wladimir’s job that much easier. Or maybe Rooney will have Mormeck box and move? Here too the December challenger will be in trouble.

Mormeck may have a bonus with Rooney assisting him, but the massive odds against him in this fight are very hard to argue with all the same.

it's ok. Could be a step up for Canelo or it may not. Cintron hasn't looked good in last couple fights. I don't know what happened to his power it seems to have vanished completely.
It's most certainly a step up for Canelo no matter how the fight ends up playing out. Cintron is one of the only actual 154lber (other one being Rhodes) that Canelo would have fought and Rhodes while being good doesn't have the resume or top level competition that Cintron has. No doubt in my mind this is a step up.

for the PPV #s people:

Sports Illustrated: Mayweather-Ortiz 1.15M PPV

It has been over a month since Floyd Mayweather knocked out Victor Ortiz at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. Yet curiously, HBO, Golden Boy and Team Mayweather have been silent on the official pay-per-view numbers. Here they are: According to a source with direct knowledge of the Mayweather-Ortiz number, the fight did approximately 1.15 million buys. That's roughly 150,000 fewer buys than Pacquiao-Mosley, which, according to a source with direct knowledge of Showtime's numbers, did 1.3 million buys.

Roach: Timothy Bradley has to earn a fight with Pacquiao

By Jason Kim: If trainer Freddie Roach has his way WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao won’t be facing unbeaten WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KO’s) anytime soon in the next year. Roach, who trains Pacquiao, doesn’t see Bradley as well known enough for Pacquiao to bother fighting.

Speaking to the Philippine Star, Roach said “I think he’s [Bradley] involved in a lawsuit with two promoters. Besides, he’s got to earn the fight with Manny. Bradley’s not well known. It’s premature to even consider him fighting Manny.”

Someone needs to tell Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum that because he’s already talking about a Pacquiao-Bradley fight in 2012 and has Bradley fighting on the undercard of Pacquiao’s fight against Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12th. Arum has Bradley scheduled to fight just before the Pacquiao-Marquez fight against 40-year-old Joel Casamayor.

That seems as if Arum is setting Bradley up for Pacquiao’s next fight unless Floyd Mayweather Jr. steps up to the table and agrees to fight Pacquiao in early 2012. That’s probably not realistic, since Mayweather has a lot of requirements he wants met before he’ll agree to fight Pacquiao.

Other than Bradley, there’s really not a lot of other options available for Pacquiao. Roach needs to see that for himself just by taking a close look at the welterweight, light welterweight and junior middleweight divisions. The available opponents are pretty thin right now. Arum likes to match his fighters against one another and there’s really not a lot of options available for Pacquiao in Arum’s stable.

He has Bradley, who he just signed, and unbeaten welterweight contender Mike Jones. That’s it. No one knows who Jones is either, and he’s probably going to be fighting Pacquiao in 2012. Last year, Arum matched Joshua Clottey against Pacquiao. Clottey wasn’t exactly a household name either and the PPV stats for Pacquiao-Clottey reflected that with only 700,000 buys.

Miguel Cotto is an option for Pacquiao next year if Cotto can beat Antonio Margarito in their rematch on December 3rd. Cotto-Pacquiao will make good money, even if it’s likely to be another easy win for Pacquiao.

I'm thinking that's probably why Arum wants the WADA involved. Pacquiao shouldn't have to alter his training to meet the drug testing demands. He should get tested by the USADA once he hits the US for training.

well right. USADA obviously can't test in the Philippines there would have to be another agency and as long as it's WADA approved then it is olympic style testing. Arum said when Pac comes to LA to train at the Wild Card gym the last couple weeks USADA would then do the testing. So it should be all gravy.

Thank you Trips. It's a smoke screen. The USADA and WADA already confirmed that the USADA would be testing Manny in the Philippines and in the US. Not one person from Mayweather's camp has ever talked about Manny not training in the Philippines. Just agree to random testing or stop talking about fighting Mayweather.

USADA only has jurisdiction to test athletes in the United States, of course, being that they are a private company they could pay them to test manny in the Philippines, but even then it would make more sense to just have a WADA approved agency do the testing who are already based in asia and have USADA do the testing when pac is in the US, where they have jurisdiction. WADA is the umbrella organization anyway so any testing done, whether is USADA or whomever, the blood tests are all sent to a WADA approved testing facility anyway, it's not like USADA does the actual testing on the blood, all they do is collect the blood under the guidelines of WADA.

Either way it's fine to me if it's USADA or whomever and should be to anyone as long as it's WADA approved

This sounds about right...
