box circles around gamboa?? Have you watched gamboa fight? dude is faster than lightening.

I have no doubt Gamboa would KO Litzau in the first round as well. Litzau is known for getting brutalized.

In fact, we've already seen Gamboa vs Litzau:

I'm not saying broner sucks, I'm saying that guy who wrote that article is already crowning him as the next floyd mayweather which is ridiculous.

yeah i watch gamboa fights man, juan ma lopez as well! in my opinion I think broner would box circles around these dudes(im a fan of all of em), broner is juss too slick of a fighter for em and has a big future ahead. dont forget gamboa has been knocked on his ass a couple times by lesser opponents and has no defense at all, great offense tho. and juan ma likes fighters to stand in front of him, lets see what he can do to avenge his loss

Ortiz: I’m going to end Mayweather’s career on September 17th

By Jason Kim: A couple of years ago Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) was one of the most mannered fighters in the welterweight division. Always joking and quick with a smile, he was someone that seemed to lack the intensity to be a major player in the welterweight division.

When Ortiz appeared to quit in his 6th round TKO loss to Marcos Maidana in 2009, boxing fans saw it as more of an example that Ortiz was too soft to ever make it to the top.

However, something changed in Ortiz this year when he fought WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto in April. Ortiz went from a nice easy going fighter to an angry slugger, someone that wanted to take his opponent’s heads off.

Ortiz tore into Berto, knocking him down twice and giving him a sustained beating for 12 rounds. Ortiz is now facing arguably the best fighter in boxing in unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr (41-0, 25 KO’s) on September 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Instead of acting deferential to Mayweatyher, Ortiz is showing him little respect and letting him know that he’s not going to come in and take away his WBC title on September 17th.

Mayweather looks a little off kilter from the seriousness and the intensity coming from Ortiz, and hasn’t been able to shake him with his trash talking thus far.

Ortiz said this to the dailystar.co.uk: “He has a great record, but it will be over when we meet…His career is going to be over after I climb into the ring with him.”

The outcome of the Ortiz-Mayweather fight has huge implications for the welterweight division, because the winner of the fight is going to be in the position to get two really big money fights against Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao. And we’re not even counting the rematch between Mayweather and Ortiz if they choose to have one.

For Ortiz, he literally could be set for life with the money that he’ll make from beating Mayweather and the subsequent fights against Khan and/or Pacquiao.

A couple people already posted they thought Broner lost the fight, so I'm not sure how he won easily. Here is just a quick google search of the reports from the fight:

Adrien Broner Decisions Daniel Ponce De Leon in Ten

By Chris LaBate

Honda Center, Anaheim, California - undefeated super featherweight prospect Adrien "The Problem" Broner (20-0, 16KOs) won a very unpopular twelve round unanimous decision over former champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (41-3, 34KOs), who was moving up in weight to take the fight. The scores were 96-94, 96-94 and a crazy score of 99-91 for Broner.

The first three rounds were all Ponce De Leon. Broner was not throwing enough punches and Ponce De Leon was digging often to that body. By the fourth, Ponce De Leon became very brave and started coming forward to stalk Broner. In the fifth, Broner was landing a very accurate right hand to the head of Ponce De Leon. Broner wasn't making it pretty. He was landing once punch at a time and moving away before Ponce De Leon could counter.

Ponce De Leon started to come back and made it close in the seventh and eight rounds. He was throwing many more punches. The final two rounds were very close as well. Broner did well in the tenth with hard punches but still allowed Ponce De Leon to throw a lot more punches. Broner barely landed more than one punch at a time.

Broner decisions Ponce De Leon, but fails to impress
Broner, looked like a poor version of Floyd Mayweather Jr. at times, throwing shots, using the shoulder roll and not looking particularly impressive to say the least. The judges scored it 96-94, 98-91 and 96-94, all for Broner. I had the fight scored a draw. De Leon landed the harder shots and appeared to get the better of most of the exchanges. Broner jabbed, ran around and mostly boxed. It wasn’t interesting to watch to say the least.

Broner escapes Ponce de Leon in decision victory
Ponce de Leon (41-3, 34 KOs) was the more active fighter throughout, but fell just short on two scorecards. Broner avoided the upset by taking a unanimous decision, 96-94, 96-94 and 99-91, at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

HBO's ringside judge Harold Lederman scored it a draw.

Again, he didn't win "easy"

Mares-Agbeko Rematch Ordered, IBF Purse Bid on 9/15

By Rick Reeno

Eric Gomez, Vice President of Golden Boy Promotions, has advised BoxingScene.com that a letter was received from IBF, which orders Abner Mares to schedule an immediate rematch with Joseph Agbeko. The final bout of Showtime's bantamweight tournament took place on Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Mares won a twelve round majority decision to unify the IBF and WBC silver titles, but it was referee Russell Mora's performance during the fight that overshadowed anything that was accomplished in the ring.

Despite several warnings to Mares over numerous low blows, Mora never penalized the boxer. Additionally, Mora issued two controversial knockdown calls against Agbeko - including one in the first when Agbeko slipped and a second one in eleventh when Agbeko went down from a low blow. The rematch has to take place by December 14, 2011 and a purse bid has been scheduled for September 15.

"[The IBF] observed several low blow fouls committed by Abner Mares. While the referee, Russell Mora, issued numerous warnings for low blows during the course of the bout, he neglected to deduct points for these fouls. With 1:03 left in round eleven, Joseph Agbeko was hit with a low blow foul that forced him to the canvas. Mr. Mora determined that the blow landed by Mares was legal and began to count indicating that a knockdown had occurred. Based upon our review of the bout, it has been determined by the IBF that inappropriate conduct by the referee affected the outcome of the fight," wrote IBF president Daryl Peoples.

Golden Boy plans to speak with Showtime to determine if there are any available television dates to stage the fight in 2011. If Showtime doesn't have any available dates, or money, the rematch would likely get pushed to 2012.

In an earlier interview with BoxingScene.com's Keith Idec, the director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Keith Kizer, said Mora was not happy with his performance in the fight and regreted not taking a point away from Mares.

Lucian Bute-Glen Johnson Deal Reached For Nov. 5

by Richard Cloutier

Jean Bédard of InterBox has announced that Lucian Bute (29-0-0) will defend his IBF super middleweight title against Glen Johnson (51-15-2) on November 5th. It is assumed that Bute-Johnson will be staged at the Bell Centre or at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec. Showtime will televise, likely paired with highlights of Mikkel Kessler's bout with WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz, which is scheduled to take place on the same day in Denmark.

Bute's team tried to secure Kessler and Kelly Pavlik for the date, but Kessler turned their offer down in favor of facing Stieglitz, and Pavlik rejected a guaranteed offer of $1.35 million dollars. Johnson was reportedly not happy with the money being offered. The two sides continued to negotiate and a deal was reached.

In his last battle, fought on June 4 in the Super 6 tournament, Johnson gave WBC champion Carl Froch all he could handle and lost by way of majority decision.

lol I don't need to rewatch it I know what I saw - broner looking less than impressive against Ponce.

He KO'd a guy who's been brutally KO'd a few times and now he's the next mayweather. Not sold yet.
I still say Broner beat Ponce easily he made him miss punches and countered Ponce all night. Gamboa want's no parts of Broner in the ring. Broner has hand speed, punching power, and he fights tall. Gamboa hasn't been in the ring with a fighter that has good hand-speed like himself. Gamboa will have his hands full and his weak chin tested. The think Broner is one of the best young American boxers in the sport.

I can't wait for the Bute vs The Road Warrior. I want to see if Bute is for real and there is no better test then Glen Johnson.

At least the IBF stepped up to right this wrong by the ref. I hope Agbeko knocks Mares low-blow ass out.

damn man, you're all over Broner like he's accomplished something. We'll see how he progresses.

And I like how you somehow know that Gamboa wants no part of him, as if you're a mind-reader. Gamboa has ducked no man. Even though he'd be going up in weight to face Broner if it goes down, I'm quite positive Broner gets laid out. I'll just leave it at that since there is no point debating Broner based on a win over Jason "Everyone knocks me out" Litzua

Jeff Mayweather: Pacquiao-Mayweather fight won’t happen until 2013

By Chris Williams: Although Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, Manny Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum are talking about a fight between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2012, Jeff Mayweather, the unclear for Mayweather, doesn’t see that happening in his crystal ball. The earliest that Jeff Mayweather can see a fight between Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao is 2013 at the earliest.

Jeff doesn’t say why he feels this way, but it’s pretty easy to guess why when you see Arum talking about wanting his fighter Pacquiao to take the WADA blood tests for the Mayweather fight, while Mayweather wants the USADA to do the testing. That right there is almost like saying you don’t want the fight, because Arum should know that Mayweather believes that the USADA is the one that should be overseeing the testing for performance enhancing drugs, not some other agency.

Arum thinks that the WADA should do the testing while Pacquiao is in the Philippines training for the Mayweather fight, and Mayweather can be tested by the USADA in the U.S. This would be two different testing agencies conducting the tests. Floyd Mayweather Sr already said that isn’t going to fly, and that if Pacquiao wants to fight Mayweather Jr, he’s going to have to stay in the United States during the training camp so that he can be tested by the USADA just like Mayweather.

Jeff said this to fighthype.com: “I think he [Mayweather] will be fighting one another in a couple of years. I think that’s being realistic because I think the fight that’s out there will take that long to materialize.”

I don’t even know if it will happen then, because as long as Arum is talking about Pacquiao being tested by WADA instead of the USADA, and training outside of the U.S, it’s going to make it all but impossible to put the fight together.
