that's exactly what K2 have been doing. But I guess there isn't much time for these prospects to build and get experience not like there is anywhere else to go, hardly any good fights can be made.

naner, you're right about staredowns usually they don't mean shit. But it just didn't look good!

A lot of people talk a good game and then they get face to face with Vitali and everything changes. They don't realize how fucking huge he is. Even David Haye was kinda punked repeatedly by Vitali, Vitali kept taking David's gay cowboy hat and Haye just kinda smiled and giggled like a school kid giving over his lunch money!

They're not there to let people get better. For all the hate they get, Wlad especially, if you're in the top 10 they've shown they'll accept a fight with you. Simple as that. They're fighting the best guys available to them and making them look foolish .. Wladimir, IMO, is gonna be remembered favorably in boxing history.

If they weren't around we'd be talking about a competitive division where anyone could beat anyone, instead we talk about if a fight would even be worth watching because they're such a dominating force that they can step into the ring with top 10 talent and make it look like a non fight.

K2 definitely earned there respect at this point. Wlad will always be remembered for getting knocked out by nobodies three times, so that will hurt him with the historians imo, but he's improved vastly since then and hasn't lost in 6-7 years beating just about every top contender.

Could be interesting to see what happens with Timothy bradley the next few months. He will become a Free Agent in a couple months, and will most likely leave fat ass Gary Shaw.

He could end up signing with Golden Boy or Top Rank.

Who would you sign with if you were Bradley?

If you go with Top rank, surely a Pacquiao fight could be right down the corner.

On other hand, signing with Golden Boy certainly would lead to fights with Khan, Maidina, and maybe even Juan Manuel Marquez.

One super fight with Pacquiao? Or 2-3 solid mini super fights?

Khan to announce his next opponent on Thursday

By William Mackay: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) says he will be announcing who his next opponent will be tomorrow on Thursday. Khan, 24, has been looking for what seems like ages to find a suitable opponent that will fit in the budget that he has for his next fight on April 16th at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester, England. Already, Paul McCloskey, the EBU light welterweight champion, and light welterweight contender Lamont Peterson have been eliminated because they wanted too much money.

Khan is now reduced the possible opponents to Michael Katsidis, Junior Witter, John Murray and Breidis Prescott. My guess is the 36-year-old Witter will get the call for this fight. Witter is old, weak, and incredibly rusty given that he’s not fought in the past 18 months. He’s also lost two out of his last three fights. In other words, he’s the perfect opponent for Khan. Prescott won’t get the fight because he showed mastery over Khan in their previous fight in 2008, stopping Khan in the 1st round and leaving no question that he was the superior fighter.

Khan has a big unification bout coming up later on this year against WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KO’s). Khan figures that if he beats Bradley, he will have proven that he’s the best fighter in the light welterweight division. However, if Khan beats Bradley, he’ll only have proven that he can beat a small and flawed fighter. Bradley would likely lose to other top light welterweights Zab Judah, Kaizer Mabuza, Lucas Matthysse, and Victor Ortiz. Unfortunately, Khan will likely be leaving the light welterweight division if he beats Bradley, and claim that he’s the best fighter in the division despite not facing those guys. Bradley hasn’t fought any of those guys either, so it’s hard to see him as a real champion until he does.

Kermit Cintron to be co-promoted by Top Rank – Boxing News

By Jim Dower: According to Steve Kim at maxboxing, former IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron (32-3-1, 28 KO’s) will be co-promoted by Top Rank. This is really good news for fans of Cintron, because once he signs with Top Rank, Cintron could find himself in fights with guys like WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto or Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Cintron’s career is at a standstill right now following his 4th round technical decision loss last year in May against Paul Williams.

Cintron has failed to fight an interesting opponent all this time despite being flexible about fighting in either the welterweight or junior middleweight divisions. Cintron needs to take on a high visibility opponent so that he can get a title shot against one of the champions. Recently, Cintron had been trying without luck to get a fight against WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto. However, Berto has made it clear that he wants no part of a fight with the hard hitting Cintron.

Cintron looked impressive in defeating highly respected Alfredo Angulo by a 12 round decision two years ago in 2009. Following that fight, Cintron crushed Juliano Ramos by a 5th round stoppage in October 2009. Then, however, Cintron’s fight with Williams came along and that fight kind of was a huge disappointment for Cintron. He was doing well against Williams until tripping over his leg and flying out of the ring in the 4th. Cintron injured his shoulder during the fall unfortunately. Some boxing fans felt that Cintron had intentionally leaped out of the ring in order to spare himself the punishment that he would have had to endure if he had continued to fight. However, that seems like a bunch of nonsense because Cintron was getting to Williams at the time he tripped.

James Toney: Chris Arreola is a Bum, That Kiss Was Gay

Mark Vester

James "Lights Out" Toney (72-6-3 with 44 KOs), returns against Damon Reed (45-14 with 32 KOs) on Thursday, February 24th at the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in San Bernardino, California. Reed is also coming off a loss, having been stopped in six by Hasim Rahman in August. The fight will be broadcast tape-delayed on Fox Sports Network.

Toney gave his thoughts on Chris Arreola's first round knockout of Joey Abell, which took place last week in California. As Arreola was pounding Abell and the referee jumped in to stop the contest, Arreola gave Abell a kiss on the face.

"That was pretty gay. You don't do no sh*t like that in no fight. That was gay. What the hell was he doing? Arreola is with [manager] Al Haymon and that's what they do. I don't care about Arreola, he's a bum anyway. He's garbage," Toney said.

Oscar De La Hoya Rips Bradley, Alexander, Chavez Jr.

By Chris LaBate

Oscar De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions, was not a happy camper with last Saturday's televised boxing events. He vented over the two main televised cards, which featured Timothy Bradley winning a technical ten round decision over Devon Alexander at the Pontiac Silverdome to unify the WBO/WBC 140-pound titles, and middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. winning a ten round decision over Billy Lyell in Culiacan, Mexico.

De La Hoya was not impressed with Bradley or Alexander. He said he was very confident of matching two of his 140-pounders, Marcos Maidana and Lucas Matthysse, against either of them.

"I am so disappointed these fighters have to strap their jock and f*^%^n fight. I would put Maidana or Matthysse with either fighter," De La Hoya wrote on his Twitter account.

Regarding Chavez Jr., the Golden President said the young Mexican "doesn't have it." De La Hoya promotes Chavez's Mexican rival, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, which makes Oscar's comments a bit biased. During the course of his career, De La Hoya picked up two TKO victories over Chavez's father, the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.

"I was watching Chavez Jr. Last night and I'm sorry but he just doesn't have it, there's no pop in his punches but wish him the best," De La Hoya said.

Oscar is kinda dumb because he's not thinking like a promoter like he should be. He doesn't realize when he says those things that Bradley will be a free agent in a matter of weeks or couple months and Bradley will be looking to sign with a big company, i.e Top Rank or Golden Boy. Despite the Alexander fight being poor for the fans, it would be in Oscar's best interests to try and sign Bradley, so that way he can easily make fights with Khan, Maidana, Matthysse, hell even Marquez or Victor Ortiz.

Gotta think like a promoter Oscar!

If not, Bob Arum will surely scoop Bradley up and you can kiss those fights goodbye, and we'll probably see Pacquiao vs Bradley instead.

I think Arum will wave the Pacquiao fight in front of Tim, and that alone is more than he'd make against any of the Golden Boy guys combined. Plus, he'd be an almost instant star.

it's a tough call for bradley. obviously a pacquiao fight would be huge. But Golden boy has all the best 140 pound guys. That's longevity. Maybe clean house and a pacquiao fight would come regardless.

Bob arum I think expressed real concerns about bradley's head, so I don't know 100% sure he wants pac to fight him just yet.

Bradley has cut his last 6 opponents on head butts. That's not a good look.

Khan-Bradley will take place in a large stadium in the UK, says Khan manager

By William Mackay: Once WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) finishes off beating what will likely be a mediocre scrub for his tune-up on April 16th in the UK, Khan will set his sights on a unification bout against WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KO’s) in July in the UK. The Khan-Bradley fight will be taking place in a large stadium in the UK, says manager Asif Vali.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Vali said “We’d like the fight in the UK and bringing Bradley over with his two titles to unify the belts would be awesome. It could be a stadium fight, like Calzaghe-Kessler in Cardiff or Hatton-Lazcano. It could attract those kind of numbers. The broadcasters are proposing dates in July and if they want it in the UK, they’ll make it happen.”

Vali wants to put the Khan vs. Bradley fight in a large stadium so that they could maximize the revenue for the fight. However, Khan needs to win his tune-up fight for the Bradley fight to take place. Bradley is likely going to sit back and wait rather than take a risky fight in between to keep active. Khan is looking at picking out an opponent with little power to trouble him for the 4/16 fight. He barely escaped his last fight on his feet against Marcos Maidana last December, and took an enormous amount of punishment to the head in that fight. Khan may not be the same fighter after that bout. We’re going to see whether his ability to take head shots has diminished.

Maidana says he hasn’t been approached by Alexander for a fight

By Eric Thomas: Marcos Maidana (29-2, 27 KO’s) says that he hasn’t yet been given an offer to fight former WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s). There had been rumors that Alexander and Maidana were close to having a fight put together for July 30th. However, Maidana dismissed those rumors, saying “Not true,” in his twitter account. “None of that as of now. Didn’t receive any offers at all.” Maidana doesn’t think Alexander will want to fight him, perhaps because of how dangerous a puncher Maidana is.

To be sure, it would be a really risky fight for Alexander after the way he performed in his 10 round technical decision loss to WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley last weekend. Alexander looked timid, like he didn’t want to mix it up with Bradley. When Bradley started to really turn up the heat in the 2nd half of the fight, Alexander backed away constantly and was only able to throw an occasional punch.

Bradley is a good pressure fighter, but he’s not as good as Maidana in that regard and he doesn’t punch nearly as hard either. Alexander would have a tough time on his hands against a slugger like Maidana. Alexander and his management need to think hard before they agree to take a on fighter like Maidana, because Alexander has been exposed in his last two fights against Andry Kotelnik and Bradley, and if he loses to Maidana, Alexander would find himself way back in the light welterweight pack. It would take Alexander ages to work his way back if he gets beaten by Maidana and he might never get back to the top unless he starts to improve.

HBO may or may not want to put Alexander with Maidana. It was thought that the loser of the Alexander-Bradley fight would then face Maidana, but now it’s not so certain because of how boring Alexander looked. He’s looked unwatchable in his last two fights. HBO might want to look for someone a tad more exciting to put in with Maidana instead of Alexander if they don’t want to put boxing fans asleep.

Dirrell says he’s seen Dr. Shaw for he hopes to be his last check-up – Boxing News

By Scott Gilfoid: Top super middleweight talent Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) could be ready to get back in action in the coming months. Dirrell, 27, revealed that he’s seeing his Doctor for what he hopes will be the last time so that he can get back in the ring and resume his promising career. Dirrell hasn’t fought since last year when he was hurt by a punch from his Super Six tournament opponent Arthur Abraham in April 2010.

Dirrell was badly hurt from the shot, and experienced a number of side effects from the punch in the months after. After seeing Doctor in the Michigan area, Dirrell was advised to stay out of the ring until his symptoms disappeared.

Dirrell had this to say in his twitter account on Tuesday: “I’ve arrived at Dr. Shaw’s office for my latest and hopefully my last check-up. I’ve been feeling great, so wish me the best!!!”

This is so great. Dirrell is an amazing talent with boxing skills that are very similar to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Boxing needs a healthy Dirrell, and once he gets back in action, I can see him cleaning up the super middleweight division in a short period of time. I just want to see Dirrell avenge his defeat by Carl Froch and prove his greatness.

Dirrell dominated Froch, but lost a controversial 12 round split decision in what was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen before. I had Dirrell winning eight rounds to three with one even.

Dirrell may go after one of the champions in the near future, someone like IBF champion Lucian Bute or WBO title holder Robert Stieglitz.

Share and Enjoy:

R. Mayweather: I Know Pacquiao Has Something in Him!

By Chris Robinson

While the future of Floyd Mayweather Jr.is as uncertain as ever, good news came recently to his Uncle and trainer Roger, who recently was able to work out a deal in relation to an August 2009 domestic violence case against him that sees him serving no time in prison at all, instead getting a year of probation and some community service hours as well as a $1,000 fine. Despite never showing any signs of worry in the past months, Roger is now in the clear and slightly relieved to have the incident behind him.

During a recent visit to Floyd Mayweather's personal boxing gym in Las Vegas I was able to talk to Roger about the whole ordeal but he obviously had much more on his mind as he picked apart various storylines taking place in the sport of boxing. From his nephew's motivations to return, his thoughts on Manny Pacquiao's May 7th date with Shane Mosley, how the sport of boxing has changed, and much more, Roger was typically unrelenting with his thoughts.

Continue below to read everything on Uncle Roger's mind...

His fighter Jesse Vargas' next assignment, February 24th against Lanard Lane...
"Jesse is a well-schooled fighter. Being so young, he's fought a lot of guys with experience. That's how I came along in boxing. I fought guys with way more experience than me. It wasn't no big thing to adapt or box because I was already used to fighting these guys. I used to fight my brothers every day and my brother was already number three in the world before. By the time I had ten fights I had already beat five guys in the top ten."

Boxing today...
"Half of the guys in boxing today I don't even follow them. They aint worth following to me. Me, I like guys with skills. I don't like it when people say 'That guy over there he beat this guy over here'. Somebody like Ricky Hatton, who couldn't' fight a lick himself. Some people follow certain fighters because that's what they like. I like guys who can box. I've known Devon Alexander since he was a little kid. Shane Mosley is a good fighter. Andre Berto is a decent fight. Andre Ward is a good fighter. That's about it, as far as I'm concerned. I don't follow Pacquiao. He aint nothing but wild anyways."

Curiosity towards Pacquiao-Mosley...
"I heard they told Mosley 'You're going to have to take a test'. Let me as you something. If Mosley got to take a test, don't they both have to take a test? They both have to take a test. But here he is fighting a motherf**ker and he won't take the test himself. That's why him and my nephew never fought, because he didn't want to take the test himself. He said he would take a test five days out. Who in the hell would do that? Aint no such thing as taking a test five days out for a five. You can take the test the day before the fight, that's it. The rest of that stuff don't mean nothing."

Mosley's chances...
"[Shane has] got power to beat him to. The only way he aint going to beat him is why most motherf**kers don't beat him. He's got that shit in him, that's why. How does a guy who's been knocked out twice at 105 pounds beat a guy at 160 pounds? And he's beating guys at 147 pounds? Please."

Floyd surviving a rocky second round against Shane...
"I just told him. Box him. I know my nephew has a good chin. My nephew's never been knocked out before. I told him, box him. Use your boxing skills and make the fight easy. You see after he used his boxing skills, how many rounds did Shane win? None. That's the whole key of boxing. Use your gifts. God gave you a gift to use something and you have to work on what God gave you. Your gift is your boxing ability, your thinking ability. And that's when he started to box. When he started to box it wasn't even close."

Getting his case behind him...
"I had some case, some bullsh*t about some woman. A woman who hit me in the head with a lamp in my condiment. I got a case. I got to go to trial. For what? She should be going to trial. She hit me. I didn't hit her. I feel good to get it behind me. To be honest it was all bullsh*t anyways. How are you going to charge me when somebody hits me with something I own? I don't understand that."

Floyd's passions to fight...
"He got passion to get that money don't he? Then he got a passion to fight. Money is the motivation to all things. Not just one thing, money is the motivation to all things. Why do you think Evil Kenevil jumped on that motorcycle and jumped over that fire? Why? Because he was getting paid a bunch of motherf**king money. For a guy to do that? What's the motivation? Money is the key to all things. That's it."

The public wanting to see Floyd lose...
"It's like this. If he whoops Pacquiao he would have to whoop somebody else. No matter who you beat and how you beat them, there is always another guy. You aint got to do nothing but the bottom line, that's what boxing is about. They want to see him lose but they sure aint going to see him lose to Pacquiao. They want to see him lose to a whole bunch of fighters. They want to see him lose to Shane Mosley. They want to see him lose De La Hoya. They want to see him lose to Marquez."

How much Miguel Cotto has left...
"I don't know how good he is now. Since he got that ass whooping from Pacquiao. I don't know how good he is. Pacquiao took a lot out of him. And Margarito had those illegal ass hand wraps. They are like casts. But let me come back though, aint no saying he couldn't come back."

The future of boxing...
"It don't look good to me. I don't hardly ever watch fights no more, period. First off, I don't know half the motherf**kers that are fighting. I don't know half them dudes. The guys you are talking about, I don't know. In my days of boxing, I know what fighters can do. These days I don't know half of them. I know a few guys. Shane Mosley. Cotto. As far as mainstream fighters."

The changes he would make with Pacquiao if he was training him...
"The change I would make, you don't want to know. Take that sh*t out of his body and do it like a fighter is supposed to do. I know he got something in him. He knows it too. I know there is proof. Because you know why? Any time a guy is getting 50 million dollars, and he don't want to take a test a couple days before the fight and then after the fight he has to take another test. Why he don't want to take a test? I aint got to tell you what's wrong. Anybody can see what's wrong with that. The way boxing works, you take a test a day before the fight and a day after the fight and that's it."

Lil' Floyd biding his time...
"He doesn't really hang out with his family. What keeps him busy is he still likes boxing, he still likes fighting. He's just probably waiting to see if the right fight comes. Obviously he might fight Pacquiao but he needs to have a tune up fight along the way. He's not active enough to actually be considered. If he's active enough, he won't have a problem in the world."

LOL!

Floyd Sr. says he doesn't want his son to fight Pacquiao, period.

Uncle Roger is saying that Floyd needs a tune up along the way.

Floyd is beating up security guards and women.

Yeah, sounds like they all really want to fight Pacquiao. If he stops Shane, I'm sure we'll hear more stories about Floyd battering women, and finger jabbing flashlight cops, and more of his uncle's magic pellett accusations.

Wow, Morebass, Pacquiao has got you doesn't he.

To me, it looks like the Mayweather's really believe that Pacquiao is on some kind of PED.

I guess we're never going to see these dudes fight if Floyd needs a tune up. I'm not paying no $50 or $60 to see Floyd in a tune up fight.... it's Pacquiao or nobody. Floyd has got to understand, that we need to see this fight. Both of them are running out of opponents and the hype is going to die down too. As a Floyd fan, I'm only interesting in seeing him fight Pacquiao and Pacquiao only.... if not Pacquiao then maybe Berto, but Berto is too dangerous for both Floyd and Pacquiao right about now.

After Pacquiao beats up on Shane, they (Team Pacquiao and Team Mayweather) need to come back to the negotiationg table. If Pacquiao is willing to agree to the testing demands by Floyd then they need to do this and quit wasting time. It's gettin' old.
