I had Alexander winning but I also want to re-watch it. Alexander got beat up but won more rounds on my scorecard if that makes sense.
At the time I felt like there were too many rounds where Kotelnik would land like 4 or 5 SOLID shots in the round and that's it, so although he hurt Alexander with those shots in those few seconds, alexander was doing all the work for the vast majority of the round.
I can see how people can score it for Kotelnik though so I'm going to watch again

Mayweather-Pacquiao Targeted For May 2011, Says Arum

While Manny Pacquiao recently issued a "November" challenge to Floyd Mayweather Jr., Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, feels it's way too late to stage the welterweight mega-fight in November.
Pacquiao penned an article where he called for Mayweather to sign a contract to fight him in November. Arum doesn't see a chance of that happening, even if Mayweather were to sign an agreement in the near future. A fight on the level of Mayweather-Pacquiao needs at least six months to properly promote, says Arum.
Arum also denied the rumors which claim Mayweather signed a promotional agreement with Don King. Mayweather and King have been spending a lot of time together in the last two weeks. King is trying to establish a working relationship with Mayweather. At this point, Arum would rather deal with King than Golden Boy Promotions, who worked with Mayweather on his last four fights. Arum believes a Mayweather deal can reached very quickly if King is negotiating for Floyd.
"It's too late for the fall. So Pacquiao-Mayweather would be something in the spring. Floyd has not signed officially with King, but when he does, I'm sure that Don will talk to me and we'll work it out," said Arum. "My recommendation is that we do the fight in May, in which case, if Pacquiao is successful in November, that will give us six months to promote the fight."
Top Rank is moving forward with Pacquiao-Margarito in full force. Arum plans to meet with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Wednesday to discuss the likely possibilty of staging Pacquiao-Margarito on November 13 at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The vacant WBC 154-pound title would be on the line. Interested parties in Abu Dhabi made a strong pitch to stage the fight, but Arum says the deal won't happen.
"I'm going to the Dallas Cowboys' Stadium on Wednesday with the intention of making a deal, and I'm very optimistic," said Arum. "Jerry Jones, I consider a friend. I think that we're going to make a deal. Jerry Jones knows that North Texas has a huge Hispanic population, and, particularly, a large Mexican American population.
"So Margarito will be a tremendous draw, and, as you know, Pacquiao was already a tremendous draw. So if the fight happens in The Dallas Cowboys' Stadium, the attendance will exceed the previous fight with Joshua Clottey, who really had no following in North Texas."

Pacquiao-Margarito: Arum Says Money Won't Be an Issue

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says giving pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao a little more money for facing Antonio Margarito at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas on November 13 “is no problem.”
Arum spoke to BoxingScene.com, insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports after Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz indicated in a conversation with boxing writer Michael Marley that the “Fighter of the Decade” wanted more money for his next fight .
Marley quoted Koncz as saying “its not unusual , it’s how we generally make these deals” after the adviser went over the figures with Pacquiao in his office in the congressional building on Monday afternoon following Koncz’ return from Abu Dhabi.
Arum said “I gave Michael the parameters, how much guarantee and so forth and so on. They are going to move it a little bit, just a little bit. Its no problem. It’s the way Manny and I always deal.”
Arum told us he spoke to Koncz earlier on Tuesday, Manila Time, and said “there is no issue. Another $500,000 guarantee, instead of on the income, is no big deal.”
The Top Rank promoter said Koncz was supposed to fly to Las Vegas but Pacquiao “wants him to do something so he’s going to call me before I go in with Jerry Jones (owner of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.)”
Arum claimed Koncz told him “there is absolutely no issue.”
Arum leaves with Top Rank president Todd du Beof for a dinner meeting with Jones in Dallas on Thursday, Manila Time to “hopefully finalize a deal” to stage the fight at the spectacular $1.2 billion venue which drew almost 51,000 fight fans when Pacquiao fought Ghana’s Joshua Clottey last March.
Arum gave Koncz credit for doing his best in trying to work out a multi-million peso deal with a group representing the Royal Family and said “for the future it could work because he (Koncz) finally met with the right people.”
The Top Rank promoter said he was “comfortable” about Margarito getting a license to fight in Dallas from the Texas Commission and commended multi-award-winning lawyer/journalist Tomas Hauser of secondsout.com for “ a fantastic article” on the hand-wrap issue.
The California State Athletic Commission suspended Margarito for one year after a substance believed to be plaster of Paris was found on his hand-wraps and removed prior to his 9th round knockout loss to Shane Mosley.
In his well-researched and soundly presented article Hauser wrote that “there was no direct evidence that Margarito knew about the inserts inside the knuckle pads, only inference” even as he noted that Margarito “denied any knowledge of the inserts” and his trainer who wrapped his hands testified “I commit a big mistake and I acknowledge it. I don’t want this young man (Margarito) to have any problem because he is not a fault. He didn’t realize what I had put on.”
Arum himself waded in asking “how can anybody deny this guy a license? There is something wrong” insisting that everything was based on conjecture and suspicion with absolutely no direct or hard evidence.

Bradley-Alexander Deal Could Be Signed Next Week

According to promoter Gary Shaw, a deal for a junior welterweight unification between Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander could be signed by next week. Shaw plans to meet with HBO next week to discuss the financial details. Alexander's promoter, Don King, is likely to attend the meeting. The network has been pushing for the fight. If a deal is reached next week, HBO wants to televise the fight on January 29.
"I think that the deal will get signed sometime next week. I have to go up to HBO and negotiate. Don King wants to go with me, which is fine, and to negotiate with HBO. And if it as big as HBO keeps on saying that this fight is, and I do believe that it's one of the biggest fights that HBO can put on the air, then, you know, they'll pay what the fight is worth," Shaw said

Holyfield vs Williams in The Works For November 5

Boxing's only four-time heavyweight champion, Evander Holyfield (43-10-2, 28KOs), will make his ring return on November 5 against Sherman Williams (34-11-2, 19KOs). Holyfield turns 48 on October 19. Holyfield returns from a April knockout victory over former champion Francois Botha. Williams, 37, won nine of his last ten fights. Holyfield plans to target a title fight with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko.
"Sherman Williams is 5-foot-11, 260, and he's a pretty good fighter and it will be a tough little fight for Evander," said Holyfield's manager, Ken Sanders. "We haven't got all of the paperwork signed yet, but they're going to close out the arena this weekend, and we're going to work on the under card next week."

Could Amir Khan already be the best of the light welterweights?
By Sean McDaniel: It’s to believe but World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan may already be the best fighter in the light welterweight division after only three fights at that weight class. It’s hard to believe because Khan looked so horrible in getting knocked out in the 1st round by the very average Breidis Prescott two years ago in 2008. Khan hasn’t anything to avenge that defeat, but he’s done a good job of winning his fights since then, albeit against non lethal punchers. Khan has looked great in beating Andriy Kotelnik, Dmitri Salita and Paulie Malignaggi.
The win over Kotelnik, which seemed like not that big of a deal when Khan beat him last year by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision in July 2009, is now looking really good now that Kotelnik recently looked so good in losing a 12 round decision to IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander last Saturday night. Many boxing fans felt that Kotelnik should have won the fight, including this writer. Kotelnik was dominating Alexander for the last six rounds of the fight and appeared to do more than enough to get the decision. However, it’s pretty easy to see why Kotelnik lost. He was fighting in Alexander’s home town, and it’s never easy to win fights in another fighters’ home turf. But Kotelnik will be back.
The real story is Khan. He’s looking very good now, and although Alexander’s struggles with Kotelnik may not mean much because it could have been a style problem for Alexander, you can’t help but think that Khan might be that much better than everyone else in the weight class. We won’t know for sure until Khan is one day put in with Alexander, Bradley and Marcos Maidana. Hopefully, Khan’s handlers don’t wait too long to put him in with them, because he may very well be more than good enough to dominate the rest of the field even now. Bradley, 26, is considered by many boxing fans and writers to be the top guy in the division.
That’s the one that Khan needs to go after first. If he can beat Bradley and do it in a dominating fashion much like he did with Kotelnik, then it would make things a lot easier for Khan. There would be less pressure on him to fight such and such fighter, because he would have already beaten the perceived best fighter in the division with Bradley. Maidana is someone that Khan should try to fight soon, though, because he is his mandatory and it looks kind of odd that Khan is avoiding him. But if Bradley takes care of Alexander, and Khan beats both Bradley and Maidana, then Khan’s work will be done at light welterweight. It will be then time to move up in weight to the welterweight division to see what Khan can do at that weight. There would be no point in staying at light welterweight once Alexander, Bradley and Maidana are all beaten, unless Khan is interested in fighting Victor Ortiz. That would be a fight much like the Maidana bout but with more speed coming from Ortiz.

Cloud Shreds Chad Dawson: No Chin, He Ducks Fighters

IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud retained his title last Saturday in St. Louis with a hard fought victory over veteran Glen Johnson. This coming Saturday, IBO/WBC-interim champion Chad Dawson goes up against full WBC champion Jean Pascal. Cloud feels Dawson will pull it out, but he doesn't see a fight taking place between the two of them.
During an interview with BoxingScene.com's Bill Emes, Cloud dropped some verbal bombs when asked for his opinion on Dawson as a fighter.
"Chad Dawson don't have a chin. He ducks fighters. He ducks punchers. Every puncher that he has to fight, he ducks them. He vacated his title because he didn't want to fight Diaconu. He vacated his title because he didn't want to fight me. He fought four old men. He ran from Glen Johnson [during their fight] and now he's going to fight Jean Pascal because Jean Pascal has two broken shoulders. He's fighting an injured man," Cloud told BoxingScene.com. "When are you going to fight someone healthy and strong and young?"
Cloud is happy with his win over Johnson. He doesn't buy Johnson's version of the events, where the veteran claimed he wasn't hurt in the contest.
"I started off kind of slow. But then I picked my shots. I was explosive. I hurt Glen Johnson like he had never hurt before. He was hurt. Everybody knew he was hurt. He didn't really hide it that good," Cloud said.
There is still some controversy over the gloves which Cloud wore to the ring that night. As BoxingScene reported last Saturday at the late hour, Cloud switched his gloves prior to the fight. Both sides agreed to a certain Everlast model with a red color. Cloud came to the ring with a pair of black gloves and the gloves were a different model from what was agreed upon for the fight. The local commission has the gloves. Johnson retained well known boxing attorney Patrick English who made a request for the gloves to be examined and tested for any improper factors

David Haye: The Klitschkos Need Me To Make Real Money!

WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is still relaxing and spending time with his family. His manager, Adam Booth, is working on his next fight. One of the biggest bouts in the sport is a fight between Haye and one of the Klitschko brothers. In 2009, Haye agreed to fight WBO/IBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko, but a few weeks before the fight he withdrew with a back injury. A few months later he agreed to face older brother Vitali Klitschko, the WBC champion. Haye withdrew one again, and signed a deal to fight Nikolai Valuev for the WBA title, which the British fighter captured by decision.
Over the last few months, the Klitschko brothers have crucified Haye in the press and painted a picture of a fighter running scared. Haye claims the Klitschko brothers are manipulating the media who are not aware of the negotiating tactics of the two brothers.
"They try to manipulate the media to follow them and make people believe that they're doing the right thing. But then when you're behind closed doors, and if you're in these meetings with them and you see these crazy clauses that they come up with, then you'll say, 'Okay, it's over.' They're always trying to gain an advantage and to stack the financial situation in their favor. I couldn't stand for that," Haye said.
"I've lost respect for both of them in that sense. That's obviously the way that they've done business in the past, and they'll keep doing it and fighting the kind of guys that they're fighting as long as they can get away with it."
After falling short in the past, Haye believes he finally secured the high hand. In the last few years, he was chasing the Klitschkos, but now the Klitschkos are chasing after him. Haye appears confident of beating both, and he anticipates that both brothers will continue their pursuit because of the money involved.
"I would knock them out. I know what it takes to beat them. If they want their highest payday, they've got to come to me. They're making nothing compared to what they can make by fighting me. They know that, and they don't know how to handle it. They short circuit. I know that it bothers them," Haye said.

They're always trying to gain an advantage and to stack the financial situation in their favor. I couldn't stand for that," Haye said.
"I've lost respect for both of them in that sense. That's obviously the way that they've done business in the past, and they'll keep doing it and fighting the kind of guys that they're fighting as long as they can get away with it."
After falling short in the past, Haye believes he finally secured the high hand. In the last few years, he was chasing the Klitschkos, but now the Klitschkos are chasing after him. Haye appears confident of beating both, and he anticipates that both brothers will continue their pursuit because of the money involved.
"I would knock them out. I know what it takes to beat them. If they want their highest payday, they've got to come to me. They're making nothing compared to what they can make by fighting me. They know that, and they don't know how to handle it. They short circuit. I know that it bothers them," Haye said.

Additionally, there’s often few of the fans of the visiting fighters over there and mostly what the judges hear are fans cheering for the home fighters. I think this ends up influencing the judges.

I’ll be ready for November, and hopefully Pacquiao will take the fight.”
Well one thing is certain. JMM will fight in November according to his trainer, Nacho Beristain, but as for whom he will face come fight night?
“We are fighting Michael Katsidis in November out of obligation.”
Beristain informed me that his fighter, JMM, is currently in Los Angeles meeting with GB representatives to cement this fight.
“The fight with Pacquiao isn’t going to happen. I don’t believe it’s ever going to happen again because Bob Arum isn’t trying to make this fight happen.”

“Floyd Mayweather is special; a gift. He is very difficult to fight because it’s very hard to hit him. His defense is strong and hard to breakthrough.”
“In fighting Manny, Floyd will be bigger and have those quick hands.”
“With Manny, you’ve got a fighter that doesn’t showboat. He is quick, but not as quick as Mayweather,” Beristain continued, ” but I will say that he is definitely a fighter that knows how to hit. He is a spectacular fighter.”

As I have said, Mayweather can retire, but he will be considered just another fighter to retire undefeated who did not face the best competition of his era. Of the only three Hall-of-Famers Floyd has faced, all were in their mid 30s and above and past their prime: Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez (who Floyd weighed in two pounds over the limit against), and Shane Mosley (who was 38). (Besides, Mayweather received a gift decision against Jose Luis Castillo in their first bout as well.)
Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao, ever since finally fighting at his proper weight level 140-147 has appeared unbeatable. Pacquiao dominated the De La Hoya who competed with Mayweather enough to earn a split decision, which has tarnished Mayweather’s undefeated record because at least one judge disagrees. Pacquiao also beat out Mayweather for the Fighter-of-Decade Award, which further diminishes the claim that Mayweather is (and was) the best of his era.
Mayweather will be remembered as the fighter who ducked Pacquiao more so than anything else that he has done in his career because there has never been a figher who has been considered the greatest-of-all-time who has ducked the simolutaneous reigning Pound-for-Pound King and Fighter-of-the-Decade Award winner. Mayweather has never requested random blood testing for any other bout besides the Pacquiao bout, and when Manny agreed to the 14-day cut off point that Floyd first agreed upon in early 2010, a scheme was cooked up to pretend Mayweather didn’t even negotiate with Pacquiao. Besides, Mayweather saying he did not negotiate with Pacquiao is the worst public relations move yet because it seemed as though he had no desire to face the best fighter of his era.
Unfortunately for Floyd, if he does not face Pacquiao in the near future, he will remembered more for ducking the Pac Man than he will for any of his decent accomplishments in the ring. For a fighter who claims he is the greatest-of-all-time, it is a paradox that he is avoiding the one fight that could at least lay the foundation to grant any sort of legitimacy to the claim.
My guess is that Floyd will make up an excuse, whether it be the purse-split, random blood testing, his Uncle Roger’s trial (which has been delayed, and could have allowed Roger to train Floyd for Pacquiao in November) for avoiding a Pacquiao clash to save face, and Floyd will pay Don King to continue to promote that excuse rather than the fight.
