De La Hoya Says There is No Issue With Chavez Jr.

During his stop in San Jose, California, Oscar De La Hoya discussed the constant talk in the Mexican press of a rivalry between him and unbeaten junior middleweight prospect Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. De La Hoya had two fights with Julio's father, Chavez Sr, and stopped him in both fights. For the last two years, Chavez Jr. has vowed to avenge his father by beating De La Hoya.
After De La Hoya was stopped by Manny Pacquiao in December, talk of a fight with Chavez Jr. was starting to build. Chavez's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank was hoping to get his fighter a date with De La Hoya. That fight may never happen. De La Hoya made it known that he does not have a problem with Chavez Jr. He also said there are no plans to fight Chavez Jr. in the near or distant future. He still doesn't know whether or not he will retire from the ring.
