yeah, he's had some problems getting caught while being off balance, hence the four flash knockdowns. But in his defense he's never been hurt in his career.
Sure, the guy he fought was a bum, but at least he's staying active. He basically fights every other month or more. He'll take a fight against someone like Estrada or Al Seeger and fight them on ESPN Friday Night Fights just to stay busy, then when he faces tougher opponents he's on HBO/Showtime. He's moving along perfectly, imo, they are doing an excellent job getting him big time exposure and at the same time, he hasn't only faced bums in fact the opponents he's faced in general are much better then most any other pro fighter after only 14 fights. Just go to:

And check his opponents records, they are all good, mostly guys with 1, 2, 3 losses, everyone he's faced has a winning record, etc.
He has some flaws, but what I see in talent (insane hand speed, great work-rate, crazy ability/agility, cat-like reflexes, etc.) outweighs those flaws. He's a little rough on the edges, but compare Gamboa to an early Pacquiao, similar in many ways, especially how pacquiao was wild and rushed in with a whirlwind of punches and often got caught, knocked down and even knocked out. Once Gamboa learns to settle down a bit he will be an elite fighter, no question in my mind.
