Seriously. He's being Tito Ortiz right now. That's the best way I can put it. Meanwhile, the Chuck Liddell's of the world are going on to make way more money for being active, than he's ever going to make waiting for big paydays. It's completely stupid. The only thing I can think is, someone got in his head and told him huge paydays are coming if he leaves Goosen. Whether that's Haymon or Top Rank, who knows, but that's the only thing that really makes sense here.

I think I might try and go to the Wild Card gym tomorrow. I got like 4.5 hours to kill in LA tomorrow and I'll have a rental car. Might be cool to go do once. I'd like to work out there but I have a ridiculously long day of flying to LA and back to Oklahoma so I might just go chill on the beach instead.

Ali Raymi takes aim at Hekkie Budler

By Robert Coster

Unbeaten record-setting boxer Ali Raymi, currently rated #7 by the WBO, says there is a big money offer on the table if WBA/IBO strawweight champion Hekkie “The Hex-ecutioner” Budler will face him in Yemen. Raymi had the following message for Budler’s trainer Colin Nathan:

“Budler gets $100,000 to fight me in Yemen,” said Raymi. “The sponsor offer in Yemen pays better than in South Africa or Monte Carlo, so it’s good for me and Budler. I am the only name that can get Budler a big fight. If somehow you have a better venue that you prefer I will still KO him anywhere you want. It’s better in Yemen so he can blame the loss on being far away from home.

“Budler can’t duck me anymore, he has to fight me. I am fully aware it’s hard for him because I am the most powerful P4P puncher of all time. However, there is a bright side, he will be listed as a KO victim on my record and more people will know him. Even 300 years from now.”

The colorful Raymi is 21-0 with 21 KOs, all in the first round. He holds the professional record for most consecutive first round KOs at the beginning of a career.

“You have to let me KO your favorite boxer,” Raymi informed Nathan. “He is a tough boxer and once I shatter his ribs he will heal and be back prancing around happily in the best gym in Glenhazel.”

People can dislike what Ward is doing all they want. There's no one for him to fight right now in his division. Froch doesn't want it. He minus well handle his issues outside the ring right now.

He was offered Sakio Bika, Anthony Dirrell, James Degale, George Groves and Maxim Vlasov. Degale and Groves would have been good money and Bika currently has the WBC super middleweight title that Ward could have picked up. And Goosen offered these fights while Ward was suing him, so he could have still handled his court cases (which he lost) and make money, stayed active and rellivant. I just don't see his goal here. If he gets out of his contract with Goosen (which is good till 2016) he faces the exact same problem as he did before.

I get the big picture he should stay active. To me though at this point he should only be fighting worthy champions. He has now set the bar so high he should not be fighting fighters that aren't that known. Froch and GGG are like the only ones that are really on the radar in the next 2 years or so

There is a younger 6'11 Chinese fighter that made his debut last month can't remember his name.
Taishon Dong, also not very good. Fought on a FS1 card. It was his debut but he was fighting a 2-6 guy and and actually got tagged pretty good a few times, if dude had any power it would've been trouble for him. Don't know anything about Zhilei really besides that he medaled.

Sticking with asian fighters for minute, what you think about Ryota Murata? I think he has all the makings of a huge star. I know he signed with Top Rank (I believe I posted that story here at the time). 6'0 Middleweight Japanese fighter who's charismatic, good skills, plus a gold medal. I know he was training and sparring with Golovkin at Big Bear before the Geale fight:

And he's coming out the gate stopping solid competition. I've only seen his fight against Nascimento on the Shiming undercard, but it seems like because of his age they want him against top fighters quick.

Keith Thurman with shoulder injury, won’t fight until October
August 6th, 2014 | Post Comment - 52 Comments

keith thurman By Allan Fox: WBA interim welterweight champion Keith Thurman (23-0, 21 KOs) is out of action with an injured shoulder he hurt while training.

Due to the injury, Thurman won’t be fighting on the undercard of the September 13th rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Instead, Thurman, 25, will be back in the ring in October against an opponent to be determined, provided that his shoulder heals properly.

According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, Thurman had an MRI on his shoulder and it showed no signs of damage, so the hope is that he’ll be able to rest it and resume training after a couple of weeks. Thurman’s adviser Al Haymon has a date in October on a Showtime televised card that he plans on having him on.

The injury unfortunately likely means that Thurman won’t be put in with anyone solid that could potentially cause his shoulder injury to flare up again. This will probably be another tune-up for Thurman like his last couple of fights against Julio Diaz and Jesus Soto Karass.

Last year, Thurman had a tough fight against Diego Chaves in which Thurman was really pressed hard in the early part of the fight after getting hit hard by Chaves a number of times. Thurman was forced to adjust by using movement to out-box Chaves until stopping him in the 10th round.

Thurman’s shoulder injury hurts his chances of being in the running for Mayweather Jr’s fight near year in early 2015. Mayweather still doesn’t have an opponent picked out as of yet. It’s not probable that Thurman would have gotten the fight against him even if he’d not suffered the shoulder injury, because Thurman hasn’t beaten any big names yet for him to get a fight against Mayweather. He’s kind of still seen an unproven fighter in the eyes of a lot of boxing fans.

Thurman’s adviser Al Haymon needs to take a chance with him by upping the level of opposition that he’s been putting him in with if he wants to get him a title shot against Mayweather before he retires

Canelo vs. Lara rumored to have done 400K-425K; HBO says they can double
August 6th, 2014 | Post Comment - 42 Comments

Canelo Lara Canelo vs. Lara saul alvarez erislandy lara By D.A: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (44-1-1 31 KOs) numbers are rumored to have went up by a little against southpaw Erislandy Lara. Canelo’s PPV numbers last time he fought against Angulo were 300-350K which were exceeding expectations according to former CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Richard Schaefer.

I know you guys are all gonna find this crazy but this actually came from HBO president Ken Hershman. Hershman stated if Canelo were to have a fight on HBO PPV, they could easily double those numbers and they aren’t afraid to release PPV numbers good or bad.

Obviously the man is firing shots at Showtime for not releasing some of their PPV numbers such as Mayweather vs Guerrero and Mayweather vs Maidana. HBO recently patched things up with Golden boy president Oscar De la Hoya and will televise a fight between Bernard Hopkins and Sergey Kovalev in a unification bout November 8th, at a venue still to be determined.

Hopkins is under the Golden boy banner and also a shareholder of the company. Hopkins is the first Golden boy fighter to fight on HBO since HBO halted further business with Golden boy promotions and Al Haymon.

Since then, under former chief executive of Golden boy, Richard Schaefer, the fighters under Golden boy and Haymon have taken place on Showtime, HBO’s arch rival. It’s still under question if HBO will do business with adviser Al Haymon who manages and advises a good chunk of Golden boy’s roster of fighters. The reason it’s still under question is because Al Haymon has fighters such as Shawn Porter, Erislandy Lara and Robert Guerrero who fight under the Golden boy banner but are not actually signed to the company and HBO still might not wanna begin new relations with Haymon.

So Golden boy’s fighters may not all get to be on HBO again. But one who’s also rumored to be is Canelo. While Hershman stated they’d double his PPV numbers. There have been talks of Canelo fighting Cotto on HBO PPV on Cinco de Mayo to rival Mayweather vs whoever he decides to fight. That’s if Canelo isn’t signed to Showtime with exclusive television rights. Stephen Espinoza objected to Canelo fighting on HBO stating “Canelo and Bernard are totally different situations. Canelo is very special to us and we look forward to a long relationship with him.”

Yeah, as they should. I think RigoGOD was also 28 when he made his debut so I'd follow that path. Get him a good step up fight around 7-8 fights or so, see how does.
There's unfortunately been a lot of drama in the capping world with cappers from Japan. Shit's frustrating but that's why you don't see the Japanese caps on there at all anymore and have to rely on streams/youtube and shit. There's a few Japanese fights/fighters I need to catch up on I just hate watching new fights in shit quality unless I have to.

I think Murata is almost definitely gonna be a star and I'm sure he's one already in Japan, even if he doesn't cross over to the states, he's an Olympic gold medalist and when he won it that hadn't been done for Japan since the 60's or 70's. Go through the profiles of most of the current crop of Japanese champions and most of them have little to no amateur career to speak of. And the fact that he's a big guy compared to their other stars, if he can make something happen at middleweight .. look out.

Yeah and I think I read Thats Japan's first medal above featherweight in history, something like that.

I think since he's with Top Rank as well as his Japanese promoters he'll not only get good fights but American exposure. I know he already was on one of those Macau undercards (can't remember if it was a Pacquiao fight or not). Couple more fights in Japan, keep building his name there, then put him on a big co main event PPV or regular HBO when he steps up maybe next year on a Cotto or Pac fight, that's the formula I bet.

I forget to mention Ward could have had a big fight against a then undefeated Lucien Bute. That would have been big and big money. But Ward was all "Bute hasn't earned a shot he needs to beat so and so". So then Froch stepped in, made a lot of money and knocked him out. Ward lost that chance himself. And Kessler would have fought him in Denmark in a rematch but Ward wanted Oakland again. So he's missed out on Bute, Kessler, Degale, Groves and Chavez jr (cus he was in court). Can't really sympathize with the guy when he's passed on all these fights.

I ended up going to the Wild Card gym today after all. It was kinda cool to do once. It's packed with wide eyed fans hoping to see Pacquiao or Cotto, or even Freddie, none of which were there. If you follow boxing, there were some familiar faces in there. I didn't really talk to anyone but stopped Marvin Somodio to shake his hand. Kayode was there being loud as hell and was supposed to spar but he left and didn't come back before I left. Steve Kim was there with his annoying voice was mostly talking and pretending to work out. He's absolutely awful. Other than that, it was mostly dudes that train there just to say they train at "The Wild Card" by the looks of it. The staff was pretty friendly though which was kinda cool. Quite a few cool pictures in there.
