Hell yeah its going to be a great night of action. Gatti/Gomez actually has potential to be a highly entertaining slug fest and I dunno man, even though I picked Margarito to win I just have a feeling of a big upset. Paul Williams has a pretty impressive reach/height advantage....

Possibly. I think it might have to do more with money though because a quick glance at the middleweight division and there really aren't any big names that stand out.

Next to Pavlik, Miranda is probably the biggest name out there and there is no reason for Taylor to fight him anytime soon. Then you got some good prospects like Arthur Abraham, Felix Strum and Amin Asikainen but they are all European fighters and are relatively unknown in the US. Only other known name in the division is Sergio Mora from the contender (lol) but he's a lil bitch and pulled out of a fight with Taylor. But if he moves up there is CALZAGHE, KESSLER, Jeff LACY, Allen Green and then Andrade, Bute, and Mundine could all provide a little attention as well. Much more money to be made.

With that being said, I hope Pavlik knocks him the fuck out!

Good ass night of fights.

I don't know...I like Paul, but he has a suspect chin. What I do like about him tho, is that he throws a lot of punches, and is very accurate with his shots.

That one is tough to call, because Margarito is a big puncher, but throws a lot of wide looping shots...and has mediocre defense.

I think this one ends in a KO though. I see both of these guys going for broke, and putting on a good show.

Same with the Gatti fight.

Yeah Williams' chin has never really been tested, so no one really knows how he will handle Margarito's punches, so it's very hard to predict. His size & reach for a welterweight really impresses me though, much like Tommy Hearns, plus he's a southpaw so that could be a very big challenge for Margarito. Only problem is Williams is pretty inexperienced (as far as fighting anyone good).

I don't know man, it's hard for me to see Gatti losing unless he really is THAT washed up. Gomez' biggest win is against Manfredo jr. (only to lose to him later), which isn't really saying much. Plus, each time I see Gomez fight he seems to tire really quickly - like after only a few rounds - even against bums like that Martin Concepcion retard from England.

Don't get me wrong though - I really like Gomez and hope he does well. It just seems to me though that all these Contender fighters are not anywhere near the same level as a good, or even mediocre pro fighter

Great fights indeed!
I've been looking toward these fights ever since they were announced.

As far as predictions go, I'm going to have to favor Gomez.
But his conditioning is suspect so I wouldn't be surprised if Gatti wins in the end.

The Williams/Margarito fight is a tough call because we all know Margarito has a few holes but can make up for it with his toughness. Paul Williams looks like he has what it takes to beat him but I can't help but remember how badly Margarito beat up an inexperienced Cintron. I know Williams is no Cintron, he's more polished but he lacks experience.
Still I'm inclined to favor Williams in this fight.
He's got the skills and talent to beat Margarito.
His size, speed, and power will probably be enough.

Definately a great match up though!

(7-0, six KOs) in a jr. welterweight bout. The event is presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions.

I like Ward, and he showed heart in his last fight where he actually got knocked down. But his people need to get him in the ring with better fighters, I understand he's in the infant stages of his career...but I feel like fighting better opposition brings out the best in great fighters.

Also, I hope Roy knocks Hanshaw's ass out cold. Punk ass talking hella shit, disrespecting a legend, Mayweather Sr too...all he does is run his mouth.

^^Sounds to me that both camps were talking shit and Hanshaw was mad because the workout gym of the casino or whatever barred Hanshaw from using it at Jones' request or some shit...here is a recent article:

BILOXI--Undefeated Tony "The Tyger" Hanshaw is done kissing up to his Saturday night PPV TV opponent, boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. Hanshaw is furious that Jones ordered hotel officials and security at the host IP Casino-Resort-Spa not to let Hanshaw and his training team use the first-classs ring and other boxing equipment which had been set up for both fighters.

When Team Hanshaw went to train in the hotel-casino, they were barred by an armed security guard who told them the premises were "off-limits" to anybody except Roy Jones Jr. The boxing ring and the various bags are all owed by Jones who trucked them over from his Florida home.

[...]

"We fly in from Las Vegas and they tell us we are barred from the training center," the usually soft-spoken Hanshaw said. "What kind of nonsense is that? Is this the great, legendary Roy Jones who pretends to be a classy gentleman or is this Roy Jones the egomaniac who thinks he is running boxing?"

Hanshaw, taking a page from Marvelous Marvin Hagler's prefight quotebook, said that being relegated to an off-site training facility was an indignity that Jones will regret.

"I had so much respect for this guy and it has all gone out the window," the 29-year-old from Warren, Ohio said. "This is just a chickenspit tactic designed to get in my head. Don't worry about my head, Roy Jones, you need to worry about my fists because I am going to whip that ass like Antonio Tarver and Glenn Johnson did. Now I am going to enter the ring to give Rude Roy the KTFO treatment and make sure he goes into a permanent retirement. He got knocked out by Tarver and Johnson and now he is going to get knocked out by me."

Hanshaw, who is promoted by Gary Shaw, had to take a 40-minute ride each way through heavy traffic to train at the Gulfport Boxing Gym. This also upset Hanshaw manager Bryan Justus.

"I do not blame promoter Murad Muhammad or the nice folks at the IP," Justus said. "Everyone in Biloxi has shown us great Southern hospitality. The only rude dude, the only classless person, so far has been Roy Jones. But who cares after Saturday night?

"Roy Jones will be yesterday's news after Tony knocks him out," Justus said. "We got our most serious training done in Las Vegas anyway."

Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. also put the blast on Jones.

"He is glass-chinned bum who will get starched by my Tyger in six rounds," Mayweather said. "He's not even in Biloxi today, he's over in Pensacola playing basketball and he wouldn't let us use the gym? He thinks it is all about Roy but what it's really all about is Tony knocking this guy out. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say!"
