Setting some facts straight. Payton broke Browns record in about the same amount of time the difference was in games played per season. Its like OJ getting 2000 yards in 14 games, everyone else doing it in 16. Brown was top on ESPN's list but it wasnt a list based on just the players abilities, it was also based on what they have done as a person and what impact they made, otherwise Jackie Robinson would not be in the top 500.

NO WAY can a wide reciever be the BEST football player ever............it just cant happen! it is not possible for that position to hold the best ever title. when you dont get hit by lineman an linebackers on EVERY PLAY you cant be the best ever. all wide recievers have to worry about are cornerbacks an safeties........an in Rice's case he played with the most dangerous saftey on his own team, so he never had to go against him.

Jim Brown is the best football player ever, its just like Rice.......the numbers Rice has now, is the same typa numbers Brown put up...he had all the records by HUGE margins, an only played 9 seasons.........Brown is still top 5 in td's an rushing an he hasnt touched a football feild since 1966

that's why i agree with the jim brown theory to an extent, but you also have to look at the time he played in. he wouldn't have ever put up those numbers with todays competition, of course there is no way to find out, but i think that is a valid statement. it's like saying wilt chamberlin could score a 100 points in todays NBA, no way. see what i am sayin about that?

i think it was barry sanders dad that got him to retire. whenever media would ask his father how they felt about his son's accomplishments, he would jump straight into how jim brown was the best, right in front of barry without even really mentioning what his son has done. he would always say "look how early he retired, there is no tellin what he would have done in 16 seasons." i think that's why barry quit when he could have played at least 5 more years. he was getting faster when he quit. he is the best ever in my book.

i think walter payton and bo jackson may have been the best overall athletes to play the game. i did a report on payton, he was in incredible shape. teamates also reported he punted a ball like 80 yards, and could throw over 70 yards (most qb's can't do that!) he had so much power through the holes and breakaway speed, and he did play on what is considered basically the best team ever. but yes, i still think barry was the best single player in the league. he is the player that made teams completely change their game plans the most for one single player! he consistently broke over 3 tackles on a carry and carried the team on his back. scott mitchell, the qb that was there alot of the time sanders played, was the shittiest qb in the league (that's a fact, check the stats!) there will more than likely never be another like him. agree or not, that is my vote.

as for qb's, i would say joe montana. he had unparalled accuracy even tho young's rating was higher. now that i think about it, it's kind of a toss up between him and montana. montana accomplished more, but young worked harder and won games off of effort, but montana won off of God given talent, but he couldn't run the ball for shit. not many games did montana finish the game with a dirty jersey. i guess my vote goes to montana, either way, they were both niners!
and you can't forget about warren moon. he is way underated

defense is hard for me, I wanna say LT too but that yay is makin me say no. I woulda liked to see Dick Butkus play coked up........there woulda been dead people all over

aight ima do this by lines................defensive lineman - Deacon Jones

Linebacker - Dick Butkus

Defensive back - Dick Night Train Lane

an I just wanna poin this out about the old days..........you got tackled every play back then. the wistle would not blow unless you were on the ground. so sayin when Jim Brown played was different is true, there wasnt as many bad ass athletes like now........but the players were ALOT tuffer to me

first off, yes, jerry is a raider.....but if he didn't do what he did in S.F., he would not be the best of all time

secondly...feel free to have an argument about the "bunch" of players that you can name that are better ATHLETES then bo was.....cause i can talk about bo all day long....make a whole thread for it if you'd like...i'll keep throwing it all out
