This is the realest talk I've seen on here. Yo, half a million people lost jobs LAST MONTH. And 1.9 Million since last year. Jobs be gettin scarce, but if people kant afford shit, dont expect everything to be like if the economy was good.

I've heard some katz talking shit about rappers doing jobs that any working teen has (working at safeway), but I always felt that if a dude tryna make a living and he kant do it off muzik, then its always kool to hold down some job. While alot of Rappers do deal with the lifestyle they say in muzik, its good know some are down to earth to the point they know what they need to do to make a living for themselves and family. And honestly, I kan relate to that... its just being a real person.

Good posts in here....

I love all the cats that say "I don't need a job...I'm just gonna wait till I make it big"...And would just rather be broke than take care of themselves (and in many cases their kids) just cause they think day jobs are for suckers.

Real talk though, to hold down a day job takes discipline and yeah, WORK...If you can't hold down a 9-5 then you won't MAKE it in music because it means your work ethic is weak.

Now, in no way am I sayin' cats who rap and hustle (aka a non 9 to 5) have no work ethic. Hell, grindin' is a 24-7 job. And so is music if you want to REALLY make it. It's more aimed at slouches that just sit around and mooch off people till they "hit it big".

Nothing wrong with a J-O-B shit I love my job im making a difference in some youngstas life. Also got a nice pention plan and health insurance for my family that the important thing. What happens when you never had a job and you get old no 401k,no pention gonna be a struggle trust that I've been working over 15 years so its gonna all count when you get old and still have checks coming in remember you have to work at one spot at least 5 years to get a pention in most jobs. How I see it if I live to see 65 im gonna be cool money wise cause I invested money in different things that are still making money. As for the music I've made some cool money, got the film stuff also cracking but im gonna still work as long as I can. You hear and see the stories of all these old school rappers broke or with no medical insurance, rappers that were gold and platinum artists in thereprime now can pay there medical bills. A lot of them could have saved money instead of cars, makes you think...

Its hard to find a job period!!! Even with a clean record, so I can only imagine how it is for a person with a felony on his record. There's people out here with College Degrees working at Home Deput or Sears, all because they can't find a job in their field, and bills got to get paid.

Life is hard for everybody, only for those that come from rich families, but for most of us, its all a struggle.

Most, almost all, of the rappers I know work 9-5 jobs. Unfortunately, I also know a lot of Bay Area underground rappers still sell eights of purple or small amounts of yola or some shit like that. A lot- not everybody, but a lot- of rappers that talk about havin some sort of illegal hustle are still caught up in it.

Im a counselor for homeless youth in Frisco and a big chunk of my check goes towards my music and im proud of it ya bitch.

I love to work, got my first job at 14 working as a grocery bagger/stockboy at the neighborhood grocery strore. Been working the last 12 years at the same J-O-B. When you are grown with kids, you gotta put the kids well-being before your own.

"You don't work, you don't eat, you don't grind, you don't shine"
-Mike Jones' realest lyric...
