economy takin a toll on the rap game too...sales are down, and as a recording artist, or anyone in the industry for that matter, you are basically a salesperson, you sellin yourself or the work you can do...you only eat if you sell...i bet theres a good amount of independent artists in the bay who workin 9-5's. if you aint rockin shows or sellin dope, or opening wingstops and fat burgers, i doubt your makin any kinda cash in the rap game real talk...and we all know your favorite rapper says he moves weight but cmon how many really do?

I work Security during the weekday and teach a faith-based class on the weekends, on top of what the music makes. I'm also an associate realtor, but in this economy who cares.

I was working back before the music started to pay, and I'm working still now. I came up in the late nineties, when nothin' was goin' on, so me and a couple other artists from that era that I know had to work, on some "real life" type ish.
.
Any up and coming artist reading this, listen: DON'T LET THESE DUDES FORCE YOU INTO THINKIN IT'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT. I FUNDED MY FIRST TWO UNDERGROUND CD'S WITH MY JOB MONEY. AIN'T NOBODY TRIPPIN LIKE THAT. GET YOU A JOB MAN.

Trust me when I tell you, I don't have NOOOOOOOO problem with gettin a legit check ery'two weeks.Never did never will!-lol

only a little kid or dumb muthafucka is gonna try and clown sumone for havin a J-O-B
Exactly man , keep in mind that some of these rappers are just flat out ego maniacs who are just "rap drunk". They think a job is going to ruin their "image". Meanwhile, the humble brother who just got released from sittin' down somewhere, and would love an opportunity to work and try to fund some music projects, gets turned away because of his criminal record. Classic.
