In Vedanta, realization of the Supreme Absolute Truth (Paratattva) is divided into 3 categories: Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan. All three are considered on the transcendental platform.

By your words you tend to fall in the category of Brahman, which is an impersonal understanding of Paratattva. The idea of all being Brahman is characteristic of those who dwell on the platform of Brahman realization.

Paramatma is realization of God within each living entity - akin to the Holy Spirit concept in Christianity. This differs from seeing everything as Brahman in that there is a distinction between the soul (jivatma) and the Supersoul (Paramatma).

Bhagavan is the Supreme Personality of Godhead; the "paternal father figure" that you reject.
Any evidence these actually exist other than a book of myths?

really? is that so? ive never tried to convert my christian wife and matter of fact it upsets me that my atheist views have led her to question her faith. i mean its nice that she has an open mind, but at the same time i dont feel like we're both wrong either. i believe her god is real TO HER, and i believe what i believe. what atheist made you this hateful?

Atheism attracts crabs because it provides no solace. They are mostly miserable insecure creatures unable to cope with the fact that some people are actually content with what they know. Atheists are like obsessive compulsive retards who continuously "move the goalposts" when ever they or we as a collective, approach any ultimate truths. They are crabs in that they see to drag down those who are convinced and lead them through the thorns of their own obsessive compulsion. Again, there is nothing truth-seeking, intellectual, or advanced about being a skeptical ego maniac, miserable about the fact that other people disagree. I have one simple question for you,

What if it simply feels like to me, that the 'truth' of the universe is that there is no single uber-diety, "God".

Should I abandon that belief and try to believe in something that doesn't feel right?

I am an extremely positive, happy Atheist and I never force my beliefs onto other people. I feel that Science and the universe itself have given me enough in this life that I don't need a "crutch" (aka a fictional God) to rely on.

What's so wrong with that, seriously?

Please dont reply with personal attacks/bashes as I think you might want to since you don't agree with anything I say.. Im really wanting to hear some real, real opinions that you have on my legitimate question(s) to you, and maybe you can put some more perspective into this.

if anything parkboyz has the whole thing wrong and 180 degrees ass backwards. ive never had an atheist come up to me and say "let me show you the way" or some shit like that. but ive had rapists, perverts, crackheads, violent people overall try to tell me why i need to find jesus. aint that some shit?

@heresy - elaborate how? opposites attract i guess, we've stayed up late nights talkin about how we feel about life and we've given our opinions, mine hasnt changed at all but my wife has gone from a church going good girl, to saying god damnit when she used to give me THE LOOK for saying gd all the time. its like she has phases though, i think shes been feeling guilty about it lately because she pledged 40 bucks a month to some christian radio station here locally. i wanted to punch her for that! she fell for marketing savvy, basically she was saying how when you give what you owe to the lord he gives it back ten fold. i dont believe in tithing and all that broohaha, especially for a fuckin radio station. BUT I TOLD HER DO WHATEVER SHE WANTS TO DO, even though i think 40 bucks a month can be spent a lot better, she works too and im not some controlling bastard. she rarely spends money on herself so if thats what it took to get her back to god or whatever than so be it.

we dont get along for shit, we're both always right but that has nothing to do with our religion. we're both just stubborn assholes.

man! preach! Here in Kansas City we have a church (thats growing) called Restoration Church. These guys are from California, ex-gang bangers, drug addicts, etc. I mean they will show you their Heroine marks! Anyway, I always found it interesting that the belief in God changes everything.

Like my mom would never talk to one of these guys on the street, BUT they believe in God so she will talk to them when she sees these guys "marketing" for money on the street.

Phil,
your situation with your wife is much much much like mines. Its funny that my wife is always asking me things about the world and what I believe. Sometimes she wonders how I became an Atheist, but you should see her eyes when we watch the History, Discover, etc channels. She is amazed.

Last night I read to hear the preface of Intelligent Thought. It seems like a really good book, go find it!
