coo heresy, calm down tho you sound like your gettin heated. as i was saying....shit just dont add up, C in college i took a religion course, and it was at a religious school, yet they brought so many things to my attention. take for example gods creation, which talks about him makin the whole universe. do you actually believe that shit? i mean come on, how do you explain dinosaurs? on earth millions of years before humans? do...you think dinosaurs were fake? its funny everyone knows they existed but they still believe god created the universe exactly how it says in the Genesis portion of the bible.

yet you keep siting my college expericance but i never said i learned this stuff in college, its my own thinking. i didn't major in religion i'm a computer science major. i took 1 little religion class that i said got me thinkin about this subject. if you dont believe me i'll be glad to sniff out your ip and take your internet connection down for a week or so to give you time to think about fully analyzing ones statement.
These are my thoughts...
I was raised by a Catholic family and I believed some of the stuff told, but wasn't disciplined enough to strongly believe in it. I went through the first communion, forgot everything, and my family basically went to church once every two years. At about the age of 12, I noticed that lot of friends, acquaintances, and family members were hypocrites - they didn't live by what the Bible suggests - and this brought up doubts of their "faith."
On my search for another "Faith," I noticed that people "sinned" in the Catholic religion, but in others as well. Baptist and Jehova's Witness churches around my apartment are full of hypocrites. If they weren't promised a so-called "Paradise" after death, they wouldn't act the way they do around their church-mates. I say church-mates because they only act like they're perfect and pretend to abide by what their Bible suggests in front of their church people. At home, they cheat on their wife/husband, yell/hit at their children, steal, are full of greed, gossip, and do all types of things they shouldn't do if they really believe in that religion.
Seeing all of this made me give up all religious beliefs. After all, why believe what a book tells you to... why can't you think for yourself? God wouldn't limit you, would he?
One day when I got high, it helped me become "conscience"... it gave me a wake-up call. I noticed that I wasn't raised right. I was raised with no manners, had a low self-esteem, no integrity, and was closed-minded. I didn't know myself. I was being controlled by the media and my friends. I didn't care about what I thought, I cared about what others thought. I never listened to my inner self until then.
Once I listened to my inner self and started straighten my negative "traits," I noticed that we should all have excellent manners, be polite, and do nothing but positivite things - not because your religion suggests - because it's the right thing to do. What goes around comes around. Nobody controls your life but you. This is a movie and you're directing it. You see things the way you do because you make them seem that way.
A few months after my wanting to progress, I had a conversation with my sister's mother-in-law, who is into metaphysics and can read auras and communicate with spirits, and she gave me an understanding of us being a part of God and being "balls" of energy. I don't fall for something until I know it's a fact, but what she said made a lot of sense, so I'll look into it later on. I say I'm not ready for it because first I want to become a psychologist, educate and expand the minds of people in the "ghetto," open the eyes of many Americans, change the ways of our corrupt government, and possibly make positive changes around the World. Then I'll worry about my spirituality.
I really don't care about people who are into an ORGANIZED religion, I just think they're brainwashed. If they want to worship a phone (like you mentioned), let them be. I just wish I could open their fragile little mind. When somebody speaks on religion, some people are so ofenssive because they want to strongly believe that the "faith" they've believed in after so many years isn't meaningless.
Stuff I gotta add... "Heaven" and "Hell" are experienced in life. You really believe there's a Hell and you'll burn there forever? If things are going negative for you, you're experiencing "Hell." If all's great and wonderful, you're going through "Heaven." Like the guy from Kansas City said, this World can be made into "Heaven."
Also, you think your spirit gets trapped in a certain place forever and a new one is created every time a living thing is born? Imagine if things were that complicated. There would be some type of spirit over-flow. You ever heard the term "recycle"? What about "re-incarnation"?
I'm 19 years old and I gotta say... there's adults twice my age that act more childish than I!

I truly stopped reading this bull shit after page two. Seriously this is like reading about the bull shit, in the paper, about whats going on in the Middle East. Nobody truly knows why their fighting they're just mad at the world. The other day I read a small article in the paper where I guess two kids after a night of drinking got into a fight about religion. I guess one of the dudes got pissed and pulled out a shotgun and shot his friends. Believe it or not it happend in Godley, Texas. WHY? kill over religion? why fight over faiths?(Atheism is a faith). Why what is really going on? Why does it mean so much to civilization? Millions and millions of years have gone by, but so little answers have been given to the unknown. Everyone must admit it scares the shit out of you too. Death and fear of the unknown is the un-solveable question. Whats really going on? Where do I go where I die? Why do I die? Why do I get old? Religion offers good answers.
My opinion is that YES there is a God. For me science does not answer the questions of my life. When I have had problems I didn't turn to a science book. I am not trying to be sarcastic either. I feel that Atheism as a whole is to simple. Yes I have read many books. I am going to offer a question and I wish that the Atheists respond back in a intelligent manner. I am not here to fight, just discuss. I feel I have the knowledge to disprove Atheism. "Knowledge is power".
