Do you guys have your subs in the trunk facing the back of your car? That's how they installed mine the guy said it sounds better that way. I don't understand the science of that.
when I was in tech school in the Coast Guard, they explained that sound has a "path of propogation." For amplified speakers, that path is roughly 13 feet, so that's where the idea comes from that facing backwards is the best way because the distance the sound travels going away from you towards the back of the car, then back to your drivers seat is anywhere from 5-10 feet or so. Also part of the reason that the sound is louder in front of the car sometimes than it is behind it (even if the speakers are facing right at you if you're standing behind the car with the trunk closed.

This all depends on the vehicle, speaker box, etc... In my experience, if it's a hatchback, face them up directly at the glass. In a truck it almost doesn't matter, etc...

I got two 12s in the trunk and I got my trunk rattle proofed cuz I hate that noise. My deck automatically turns itself down when I slow down I don't like that feature. And it turns down itself and tells me to obey the speed limit when I speed. I also hate that feature.
there might be an easy way to fix this depending on the car/deck you have

I got 2 JL audio w7 12's in the Lexxo ran by the stock stereo (because you dont really need to upgrade those now a days) pushed by a 1000 W x 1 @ 1.5-4 ohm JL Audio Amp

....honestly, I rarely turn it up unless I am on the freeway or I really am feeling the song at the moment. I hate being that mother fucker at the light rumbling everyone elses car.
That's on some grown man shyt. I do the same.

This one time my wife, son & I started laughing at these two youngsters at a stop light. They were bumping & it was sounding awful. More distortion than anything. The driver laughs & tells the passenger,

"We're rattling the cars around us." And they both start laughing hysterically.

Ummm... Nobody's car around them was rattling.

I have a friend that has had a 64 Impala since high school and he put 4 15's in there. It sounded awful. You could actually hear the car rattling from farther away than you could hear the bass
true.

my box wagon ('89 Caprice Wagon) had the electric rear window. you can roll it down. if you didnt roll it down at all, it sounded awful, inside and out. if you just cracked it at least a half inch or so, shit slapped. clean. it was able to breathe. trunks cant do that.

Yeah, my homeboy's truck was like that. He had 2 tens in there but it sounded better with the windows down.

After doing some research, I think I'm going with an Audiopipe 1500W amp and 2 15" Boston Acoustic G2's. Should be out the door for $300 and those should sound pretty good as far as sound quality and sound level.
Get some nice speakers...don't want the bass drowning out the music. May want to make sure your alternator is in good order too.

these days a lot of cars have some top quality sound as it is ...no need to change anything out ...everything is there from the factory...and like lemon said..lease...i own a few vehicles ..old chevy stepside, a 04 grand prix gtp, a volvo v70 R and now currently lease a 2013 malibu ss

and believe it or not the beat is all in the v70R...its a sleeper wagon...i was trying to get my hands on on a caprice wagon at that time...but ended up with the volvo because it came through the shop with a blown engine so i picked it up for 500

I have 2 12's and a 1000 watt amp. forgot the brand but copped them off of ebay back in 08 for 199. been good to me ever since. you can hear me literally coming a block away!
whenever i get a new car will be getting 2 12's again with an amp for the subs and another amp for the mids and lo's. will also put dynamat in my trunk.
only thing that rattles in my car is the license plate frame. so damn annoying at times. but my shit sounds clean.

I am about to install 4 diamond d3 12s in my prelude. gonna have 2 sealed in the trunk and taking out the backseat and putting 2 in a ported box. Gonna be pushing all 4 at 0 ohms with an 1100w amp at 250rms each with a 2 farid cap incase i upgrade the amp. Hoping to dynamat the trunk atleast soon after.

Upgrading from having 2 pioneer 12s in a ported box in the trunk pushing 300w each at 4 ohms.

My factory speakers are JBL and sound pretty clean. It came with 6x9's and a component set in the front. I plan on running the gains almost all the way down and bass down as well. I'd rather have too much speaker/power and be able to turn the gains way down than have to crank them way too high and have the bass be just barely enough
