The Navy is working out well for me. I am looking forward to getting out because of the GI bill. I signed up for 6 years, I scored a 70 on the ASVAB and I am a Fire Controlman. I work on a missile system. They gave me $2,000 to join and I got E-4 automatically with out a test. I am now an E-5 and I make just under $2,000 a check every 2 weeks.
I'll be going on my 2nd deployment in September which is a great way to save up a lot of money. The navy is pretty easy man, I just want something else at this point.

I'd say you should look into going into the Air Force. It's one of the easiest branches, plus you don't get stuck on boats for months at a time.

If you're not sure if you want to do it, look into the reserves or national guard. You can sign up for 3 years going one weekend a month. If you decide to go active duty, you can do that at any time. It just seems like you have more options if you enlist in the NG or reserves.

Your enlistment bonus depends on what job you pick. I didn't get one either.

the cutoff age when i was in was 34. Personally if i wanted to come back in as an officer i'd have to join the reserves or something. Honestly i think any chance of me getting back in the service is slim to none. If i could get another government job i should still get points towards a pension unless its limited to being a cop or a firefighter.

FC is a great job nwk, i guess you had a pretty clean record coming in huh. My checkered past kinda xd me out of anything with a secret clearance. I was a PH which is now mass communications specialist, can't complain I had a high profile job that got me face time with admirals and shit. Led to alot of flag locs for doing nothing special. If i stayed in i probably woulda made first class first time up, i always killed those navy advancement exams despite never getting an EP on an eval that meaned anything.

I probably wouldn't go back in unless they commisioned my ass unless times got real tough. I'm not coming back as a 30 something e-4 fuck that shit

I had a friend who took his 2000 bonus and went awol back to the bay where he spent all the money on drugs and got a bcd, fuckin jackass

Bad Conduct Discharge, you'll learn a language of acronyms if you join the military. If you join the navy you'll have to learn a fuck load of navy words. Most of boot camp isn't doing pushups and shit its learning shit like that.

I wouldn't want to be a 30 year old E-4 because i was an E-5 when i was 22 years old. Its the enlisted ranking structure. It goes from e-1 to e-9. If if i stayed in i'd most likley be an E-6 right now. E-4 is the beginning of getting of rank and priveledge in the enlisted ranks though. If you can get in as an E-3 that would be good. I started at the bottom, if you have prior college you might get in as an e-2 or e-3. Some Jobs schools are so long you'll end up an e-4 before you get to your first duty station.
